This is the only lodging that is in Jena and and i'm glad that it is. Pros: 1) Townsmen has spacious room. 2)The room is clean. 3) It also has a ceiling fan and an air conditioner. 4) the room has a microwave and fridge. 5) there's a self service laundry which costs a dollar for washing and a dollar for drying. 6) they have fast wifi internet connection. Cons; 1) They do provide bathing soap however no shampoo. They sell shampoo and shaving cream at the front desk. 2) coffee maker needs serious cleaning. Stayed here 8,9,10 of June in room 107 for $70.53.

The bed felt like we were sleeping on a box spring only and the "pillows" felt like dirty old shoulder pads that someone pulled out of a sweater from the 80s'. The wash clothes had brown stains like someone had just used them to wipe their rear end. The sheets felt grimy I wouldn't dare sleep on them. The carpet also felt so dirty and damp that I had to keep shoes on the entire time. I can not believe it cost over $70 to stay in such an awful place. It's really sad that this is the only place to stay in the area and that no competition has made them step up their game and maybe at least get a pack of clean towels for their guests.

There were numerous occasions where customers walking through the lobby weren't wearing masks and weren't asked to put them on. The other gripe is, I don't think the cleaning crew are doing a very good job of cleaning the rooms. There were boogers on the walls/doors in the bathroom and hallway. I was scared to pay closer attention anywhere else in the room because of what I might find. Overall, 3 stars for location and friendly staff, but please work on cleaning the rooms better...

The check in process was super quick and we were given complimentary bottles of water. The room was modern and most importantly very clean. Everything worked and nothing was falling apart. There was a sofa bed that my sister slept on and a curtain for privacy at night between mine and my husband's bed and her sofa bed. There was a kitchenette that had everything from a fridge to a dishwasher. The kitchenette was stocked with dishes and silverware. There was also an indoor pool which was a big plus with a 2 year old. The water was a bit cold, but we managed. There are 2 things that caused me to take one star away. 1. The bathroom door- the bathroom door was a sliding door that did not lock. It did not secure in a way that allowed for complete privacy which makes it awkward when staying in a room with other people. 2. Breakfast- We were given times for the hot breakfast. We went down stairs expecting hot food like scrambled eggs, breakfast meat, stuff like that. My son loves breakfast so I thought this would be perfect. There were frozen omelets and a frozen English muffin sandwich to put in the microwave. Apparently this was the hot breakfast. My son did not eat. Overall I would definitely stay here again.

This is a solid choice if you are in Alexandria…read more For the last year and a half or so I have had to travel to Alexandria for work. I have been staying at Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express but after a few issues at HIE, I decided to give Hampton a try. The good: My room was clean and comfortable and check-in was easy. The free breakfast in the morning was good as free breakfasts come. There appeared to be some sort of evening reception with drinks and snacks but I didn't get to participate. The hotel was also reasonably quiet which was impressive considering how close it was to 49. The rest: My room was set to 78 when I arrived. 78 is way too warm for a hotel room. This was probably some sort of cost-saving thing but I like my rooms as cold as humanly possible. It got that cold but it took a while. The hotel is kind of far from the city center which is where the restaurants and my work is. It's kind of far for Alex which means a 10-15 minute ride depending on traffic. Where I normally stayed was less than five minutes but all in all, it really wasn't that bad. Would I stay here again? Absolutely. I still prefer the HI downtown since it is more of a full service hotel (it has a bar) and is closer to my work, but I would definitely keep Hampton on your list.

Maxine is by far, the best, most accommodating, fun-loving front desk concierge I have met. Ever. I am usually greeted well at Hamptons. But she just puts the right spin and personality welcome into it. I had what I consider to be a minor issue. I asked Maxine for help. Immediately and professionally solved. Really not so grand…read more This is my second time staying here and it's gotten worse since my last visit which has only been maybe 2 or 3 years ago. OK, so this is probably the best hotel you can stay at in or around Natchez but they are obviously floating by on that. The lobby is really nice, but that's where it ends. They don't seem to regularly upkeep the place. Cons: -Had a difficult time getting into the room multiple times, weird room key card issue -They are supposed to be a smoke free hotel, but our room smell like smoke and was musty smelling -No luggage rack. I really don't like having to put my suitcase on the bed or floor to unpack -Cheap outdated furniture -AC unit doesn't work well. I was here two nights and though the AC was set to 65, my family and I woke up hot multiple times. -Fridge was disgusting! Had to put our water in the door of the fridge because the other portion of the fridge was soiled and not clean -Bathroom sink leaks everytime it was turned on, toilet is way to low and the toilet handle was so loose I was afraid I was going to break it everytime I flushed. -Room too expensive and there was an added fee for the pool and Wi-Fi. Not cool -I wasn't expecting much from their breakfast offerings but it was not good at all. Everything was in those warming chafing dishes but everything but the grits was cold. French toast tasted like bread with maple syrup and it was hella chewy, breakfast sausage low quality, eggs fake, grits were actually good( in comparison) Pros: -Staff was friendly -Our room had a great view of the Mississippi River -We had a place to lay our head -My family liked how big and fluffy the pillows were. I had a crook in my neck both nights, but no fault of theirs -Cute, walkable area behind the hotel that had music, vendors and Christmas decorations Due to slim pickings, this probably won't be my last time here, but this hotel could really be nice if they put more effort into the rooms and upkeep. They need to do better.

Linens were not changed on the bed (nor was it made up each day) and requests for additional towels were not timely addressed. Microwave broke during use. Concierge was excellent, and the front desk team was nice and helpful. The complimentary breakfast was excellent. The hotel suffers from deferred maintenance and lack of urgency and follow through on room service requests.
