It's a quiet residential area so we just parked on the street. I wanted to come see this because 1) who doesn't like HUGE road side attractions? and 2) my mom's side of the family is Czech. We really had no trouble finding it. We did have trouble finding any hand painted eggs to buy. Someone on here mention that the Midland Mercantile sold them...and yelp has their hours listed...except they're listed wrong. They're only open on Saturday. We were not there on a Saturday. We drove around town looking for other places to purchase eggs and the town was covered in them. Absolutely beautifully decorated with eggs. But no where to buy them. We stopped and asked at the hotel and maybe they get asked all the time but they brusquely informed us that the only place in town that sold them was closed that day. It just seems that a town that makes it entire identity about something would capitalize or merchandise that a bit more??? I did finally find some on etsy when I got home. So TL;DR, come see this egg!!!! Just don't expect to be able to buy any for yourself.

The Town of Wilson, Kansas is famous for its collection of Czeck eggs, one of which qualifies as…read morethe "World's Largest Czeck Egg". The egg is LARGE and it's beautiful (see pictures). We took the time to drive around Wilson - looking for the other Czeck eggs and we found a lot of time. Worth the detour to see this 20' tall decorated Czeck egg.

Disclaimer: I drove this on a mid-September Sunday afternoon when it was 105 degrees out, though a…read morewindy 105 degrees! (From the South, so a very hot yet windy day was unusual to me.) This drive may have more charms during the magic hours of the day. I was on the road from Tulsa to Dodge City, and I decided to break up the 5 hour drive with...about an extra hour driving the "Scenic Drive" off of 160. As I started along the road, I saw the mesas off in the distance - the first time I had encountered them on this trip into New Mexico, a true sign I was now in The West - and was looking forward to better views as I got further along on the drive. What I didn't know was that those introductory views were about as good as I was going to get. I actually ended up taking no vista views, and that's in 2022 when I seemingly take photos of everything. (I did get out of the car to take a couple of sunflower photos, though not nothing I couldn't have found on another roadside stop.) It's a dirt road and open range at times, but the dirt road was pretty easy to drive and the wildlife was nowhere to be found save for a lone roadrunner - and on a blazing hot afternoon, I wouldn't want to be out and about in this exposed landscape either, so I don't blame them. As such, it felt a bit like a drive out on farmlands, nothing I'm going to complain about, but especially as this wasn't my first exposure to red rocks in my life (and there's really not a lot of views of it in the first place) I would've preferred to just stick to 160 and save myself a good half-hour or so. At least at this time of day.
