Gulf Shores Police Department - Really great to have a place to drop off expired & unused meds.

This is an…read moreexcellent public service that should be offered at every police department across the country. This is so important because when you have leftover medications it's vital to have a convenient and simple means to properly dispose of them. In the city that I came from there was NO place to drop off my unused medications except for the rare occasion when you might have to travel to a far away place during a small time window during work hours. Seriously none of the pharmacy will take them, doctors offices have refused to take them so what are the options? Too often these meds end up in the trash or flushed down the toilet. These are both really horrible options. Though it may not seem obvious at the time, flushing expired medication down the toilet means it will ultimately end up in our water supplies - affecting both our drinking supplies and various freshwater habitats up and down the waterways and that's just a horrific option. Putting it in the trash is not a good option even if they're mixed with kitty litter or coffee grounds for a host of reasons. CVS is supposed to provide prepaid envelopes but when I asked for one my local store couldn't provide one. Please be mindful of unused or expired drugs to prevent them from being misused and to protect the environment. In a major city like Memphis, TN I did a search for a disposal site and came up with one location at a mental facility. You can search the DEA website for a location near you at: https://apps2.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubdispsearch/spring/main?execution=e1s1 As for my new local police department the people I encountered were very professional and friendly and the men and women that keep our community safe have a very good reputation from what I hear. They have a good working face facebook page and I appreciate the work and dedication of my local P.D. and officers everywhere. http://facebook.com/gulfshorespolice

I just wanna say thank you to all of you for putting your lives at risk every day to keep the citizens of Mobile safe. You are selfless and wonderful people who deserve more recognition in this world. I try to do things such as pay for officers meals when I can and bring fruit trays to some of the stations, but I'm going to leave this Yelp review too in hopes that you all see this and know you are truly appreciated. Thank you, Mobile Police Department. Stay safe, we've got your six!

This isn't the worst I had multiple seizures due to being epileptic then I wake up in jail charged with obstruction of justice. I'm currently on probation for this charge and I have complied. My first day of reporting city probation had to call the ambulance to come and transport me to the hospital for seizures. All I remember is being picked up by the ambulance I don't remember having my rights read to me or anything. After a seizure you go through a postictal state of recovery whereas your mind comes back from confusion and aggression due to the medical condition. I will definitely be seeking civil action as soon as this probation is completed. Any injury lawyers out there want to take on a case that'll be a definite settlement out of court contact me. I have years of medical records. It's got me suffering from major anxiety now and I have multiple medical records for this as well. I'm seeing a physiatrist every 90 days and I've been prescribed multiple antidepressants for anxiety. This department of public safety has completely ruined my life. I only gave one star to post the review I wish I could have given zero stars.

Poor professionalism in the detective division. Detective Walker appeared to be biased towards the…read moreperson the case was opened against. Not sure how one can mistake a case of elderly financial abuse and tie it with elderly care, but some reason he only talked about the great care our mother was given and how he spoke with DHR, Hospice and the nurse. He even stated "Why are all the complaints now after she's gone, where was the family at when all of this happened?" "Why didn't the family have her?" When that part was explained in detail he was still obtuse to the facts. If you have states "I guess I don't know the law but I've been doing this for 24 years" then to be told about an Alabama State code which clearly showed him he indeed didn't know all of the laws and that there were rights he was overlooking, silence fell upon the phone only to hear "I guess I'll go look that one up". He even displayed that his conversations with the accused were unprofessional as he was repeating things that he obtained back from them in our conversations only for me to inform him to read up on that state code. I constantly had to redirect his approach on the discussions to only focus on the financial abuse part. His investigation was based on conversations and not the actual raw data (Bank statements showing debit card usage at places like liquor stores) all while the elderly person was bed ridden. Even the banker could see debit card abuse as my mother didn't use her debit card. When it was explained to him that her credit report shows her bills were not being paid. Hard inquiries for jewelry store credit and auto loan applications, and credit card balances increasing each month while she's laid up in the bed, was the only time he was quiet. But he assured me he did his investigation and there is no fraud! I'd put more trust in Veronica Mars

Love these guys! These deputies are the best and they have been very cooperative with me!read more

While…read morewe weren't impacted by this awful storm we sure know what recovery looks like and the hardships are suffered. I went through our personal emergency supplies to send some of the requested materials and then we went shopping at local stores to add to the donations. There's other donation drives all around the city of Gulf Shores, again making me proud to be a part of this community that has some of the most fabulous people anywhere. Here's the announcement: Crews from Gulf Shores Fire Rescue and the Gulf Shores Police Department will travel to the Pinellas County, Florida, area early next week to assist with Hurricane Helene disaster efforts. Before they depart, the Cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are joining forces to accept donations in support of those affected. If you would like to donate essential items to aid in the relief efforts, please drop them off by noon on Sunday, October 6, at either Gulf Shores Fire Station 1 (1921 West 1st Street) or Orange Beach Fire Station 3 (23584 Canal Road, Orange Beach). Suggested Supplies: * Hygiene Products * Cleaning Supplies * Totes * Water * Electrolyte Supplements * First Aid Kits * Baby Hygiene Products * Baby Food * Non-Perishable Food Items * Tarps, Roof Nails, Hand Tools * Dog Food * No Clothes Please Please contact Adam Bowmar with any questions: 251.215.0271 or abowmar@gulfshoresAL.gov. If you aren't in this area it's possible to find a similar drive to help where you are. Government isn't the answer for this horrific killer storm, as I'm reading multiple reports that in many cases, sources say, FEMA officials have yet to show up. Citizens like us and benevolent groups like our fire and police departments can and will make a difference in the lives of the survivors.

On the second floor are rooms where they have crafts and other meetings.. I have been to the craft classes and they are wonderful and the librarian who teaches them is awesome ..She is so helpful, friendly and makes the classes a fun time.. They have a dept that helps you with tracing your ancestry and I need to fill those papers out again .. You can renew your books online and reserve books.. By the return book window there is a memorial garden where people who paint rocks can place them in memory of loved ones.. It is really a cool idea and lots of rocks there.. I paint rocks so a few of mine are there.. They also have a lot of videos and cds and a cute childrens section.. Five stars I love this library

We like this library a lot. It's got a decent sized children's section, a large collection of dvds,…read moreaudiobooks, and a large selection of books on the second floor - don't miss that! They also have meeting rooms and a large variety of activities. It's kind of sad that they had to cut back hours, so some days of the week they open later. But Such is the state of our world now. The librarians are helpful and it's nice that you can check out your own books without waiting in line. Four stars.
