Such a very nice and iconic landmark in Sacramento with plenty of history behind it as well as the essential of building Sacramento during the early years including the industrial companies and people who moved here over the decades. Definitely a great place to visit especially the downtown area and the California state capitol.

Tower bridge in Sacramento is one of the iconic and famous landmark in Sacramento that shines before and after sunrise and sunset. I always saw the picture on the Sacramento's card postal or magnet but I've never had a chance to drive by! It has yellowish gold bright color and i think is one of the reason that it brings all photographers and tourist here. Its's close by old Sacramento and water front and also it has good view to take photos. It wasn't crowded and while he had a convertible car i was able to record a real video to show its beauty just like in the movie Lady Bird in 2017 (Oscar nominated) 2"which brought lot of tourists back then to this location and it was in my bucket list to. I was in Sacramento for work but i've never had a chance to stop by!

This bridge feels like home, more than most landmarks in the area, this one screams to me "Sacramento". Whether you're crossing it while driving through town, walking by while exploring or enjoying a special occasion like the Tower Bridge Dinner, it's a sight to see. It's lit up at night and you can see it while driving up 5 North as well. I remember how cool it was to cross under it during a fundraising walk, over and around the ballpark and back to the capitol building. In fact I've captured video on more than one occasion while we've driven under it as well. Whenever we have out of town visitors this is one of our spots to take them, especially when the weather is nice.

The Golden Draw Bridge for the city of Sacramento. Beautiful, fun tourist attraction. Easy access and parking with app meters. Great places to take photos.

Well, it's not every day you see a vertical lift bridge, much less a bright yellow one. Unless you live and work in Sacramento. Then you're probably used to it. As a non-local, however, I only recently have stopped, looked, and walked on it like I was some bridge groupie bowled over by the heavy steel construction and the constant rumble of vehicular traffic. I don't think I'm that much of an architectural pushover, but it was quite a uniquely conspicuous sight as I was walking the riverfront between the Crocker Art Museum and Old Sacramento. It was built in 1935 in the Streamline Moderne style heavily influenced by the Art Deco movement - even though the bright yellow hue didn't feel like Miami Beach to me. The bridge is only 737 feet long, so it won't take you long to walk it, and then you can do what I did and risk life and limb dodging the M Street traffic to walk on the other side. Actually it wasn't that scary since it was the middle of the day, but if you're here, make a point of stopping to admire this landmark. They can't all be the Golden Gate Bridge, and it's certainly better than the Dumbarton (no offense). RELATED - Exploring Sacramento? Tower Bridge is one of the most important landmarks in Sacramento. It is so beautiful regardless of day or night! The bridge is connected to the City of Sacramento and the City of West Sacramento. It is one of the major bridges between these two cities. I have taken countless photos of this gorgeous landmark in the last 30+ years. All the pictures are amazing! I also bring all my friends and relatives who visit Sacramento to see the bridge. They were very excited to see this beautiful bridge too! I highly recommend it to anyone who is coming to Sacramento. Make sure you are included Tower Bridge in your schedule. I'm sure you will have a great time in the area too. Enjoy your trip!

Growing up in Sacramento I didn't care much about this Bridge. However, moving away and visiting family made me realize that certain things shouldn't be taken for granted which I have become more appreciative of what is around me especially if it's part of history. This historical landmark bridge is what makes Sacramento so special as I take lots of pictures with different angles of the bridge. There is a little walkway under the bridge which can take you from the beginning to end of the bridge just be careful as you are close to driving vehicles. I have watched the movie, Lady Bird that has taken place in Sacramento and I totally relate to this movie, and you will see the Tower Bridge in the movie too. The Tower Bridge is totally right next to old Sacramento which is walkable if you are planning a trip to Sacramento. The Tower Bridge is a vertical lift bridge across the Sacramento River, linking West Sacramento in Yolo County to the west, with the capital of California, Sacramento, in Sacramento County to the east. It has also been known as M Street Bridge. If you're into architectural bridge design, then I highly recommend you visit this iconic bridge.

07.04.19 the Tower Bridge also serves as a vertical lift bridge as well as traffic and pedestrian bridge

A pedestrian and vehicle traffic bridge that also serves as a vertical lift bridge The Tower Bridge might not be the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco spanning over the mighty Pacific Ocean nor is it the Tower Bridge in London that crosses the River Thames close to the Tower of London but it is gold and it is a bridge. No, this bridge is Sacramento's own golden bridge across the Sacramento River. I remember there was some controversy over what color the bridge should be. First it was silver, then yellow, then it was put into a vote by residents who lived within 35 miles of the capital. The winning choice was all gold, and it was repainted in 2002. The rusty yellow/gold color paint given is probably associated with its gold rush history (I'm just guessing). It serves as the entrance to downtown Sacramento (Sacramento County) from West Sacramento (Yolo County). When dining at the restaurants on the waterfront, depending on where you're seated, you get a nice view of the Tower Bridge as your backdrop. We had a cool view of it when we were dining at Joe's Crab Shack and also at Rio City Cafe a few times. When on board the Hornblower on a Sacramento Historic River Cruise it sails underneath the bridge. The bridge occasionally lifts up for boat crossings. I wasn't fortunate enough to see it "in action" so I guess it is just another bridge. LoL! There are walkways on both sides for pedestrians. We once witnessed a Fourth of July celebration when fireworks was shot off on west of the bridge. They do this on New Year's Eve too. The Tower Bridge reminds you that this city is very much a river city and is an iconic landmark of Sacramento. And there you have it... my two cents. It is just a simple bridge but it is a long time symbol of Sacramento and that makes it pretty special for locals. Review #1978

The tower bridge looks quite unique, and you can walk across it, or standing on the bridge to look at the river snd people in the river walk. It connects to the capital mall road directly to the capital building.

Wether you decide to drive past it, swim under it, or walk across it, you will love the energy. It's rare to walk past a golden painted bridge, so come visit! It's located in Old Sacramento where all the fun things are, so there is no excuse not to go! Looking, touching, and photos are free. Bring your favorite cameras and get ready to snap a few pictures for social media!

I don't visit Sacramento often, but I will make it a point to stop at the Tower Bridge again the next time that I do. While it's not as glamourous as the Bay Bridge or Golden Gate Bridge, the Tower Bridge is still iconic in its' own right. This bright golden yellow vertical lift bridge crosses over the Sacramento River to connect West Sacramento to Sacramento city. It was first opened in December of 1935 when it replaced the old Sacramento Northern Railway swing through truss bridge. The bridge is centered right near the beautiful Riverfront Promenade, and there's a walkway that will lead you right onto the bridge. There's also a section where you can walk underneath bridge. The views of the Sacramento River from the bridge are insanely gorgeous. If catching sunsets is your thing, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to see one here. The view of the sun cascading against the bridge is truly magical. This is also an excellent place to take a stroll. There are rest benches and a walking path that extends along the river. The only inconvenience is the limited amount of parking. There are a few parking spots in front of the promenade and paid parking about a block or two away, but they fill up fast. Either way, it's still worth a visit. It's a charming little bridge with a nice walking path and excellent views.

One of those places is K Street, which thanks to its location in the very heart of downtown, has been the victim of constant change, for better or worse. It used to be a place lined with cars and teeming with families and restaurants and the famous "Fox Theater." Then it met a decline and attracted a lot of crime with a lot of shuttered businesses and became the blight of the city. Gradually, beginning in the mid '00's, it had a return to form, with more businesses opening and a wonderful revitalization. That took a hit with the great recession but it came back again in a big way when Golden 1 arena was built. Even though we are in the time of COVID, I'm confident that K will continue to grow and thrive in the decade ahead. Some of the most notable spots are the historic church, some of the older buildings and some of the modern businesses, like the Empress, Pizza Rock and the new popular Nash & Proper. The visual landmark we all enjoy is actually the Crest Theater, which I pray will survive these tough times. Whatever the case, it's a great place to stroll. By 12:50pm the rain was starting to pick up and we were almost running for cover. I had my raincoat on, but my husband only had his leather coat on. He was warm, but getting wet. We though we were on the capital look, but realized that the loop is referring to the outer edge of the park, we started on the loop and then wove through the park, so I'm going to just review the park today and post pictures from the interior park. I really like the cactus garden. It's a little scary at times as the prickles are so large and my husband is worried if he walks by too close they will attack him. So, we kept our distance and skipped the close up shots. Today some of the cactus was in bloom which was pretty spectacular. I loved their orange color and brightness. They really popped. They do have a warning that says keep out of the Cactus garden so you are forewarned to stay away so you don't get poked. I took a picture of a cool tree. The top must have been cut at one time because now there is only a branch that goes over the path. It's fun to read all the tree tags and see what kind of trees growing in the park. They have two types of paths in the park, some that are paved and some that are possibly finely crushed rock. Both paths were a little puddly today, but not too back that you couldn't walk around the puddles. There are a few benches in the park. May of the ones under the trees are occupied by the unhoused population. The ones out in the open are usually vacant and used by local workers to enjoy some fresh air and have lunch outside. Come enjoy Capital Park. I suggest you take public transit here if you are visiting on a weekday as the parking is slim on the streets, but there are aways garages available. If you come on the weekends, there is much more parking on the streets. So, you have no excuse as to not enjoying this beautiful park.

Very romantic place - I loved visiting here with my pig pig - perfect for a hot date night…read more Old Sacramento is good fun - it is different from the typical McDonald's, Walmart, Costco cities that are carbon copied now everywhere with cookie clone houses. Old trees, charm, all the houses nearby are different - my Grandma - a fairly well off city girl from Europe approved - and I can see why. Coming to the USA with nothing but two suitcases and 3 kids she quickly worked her way up to the Land Park neighborhood. A stunning house with 4 car garage, metal roof and pool. She loved old Sacramento and looked down on village or town or junky places. She too good for that. Piggy was too good for that. The romantic river once had the pirate boat shows - pig pig loved them. The old bridge - I love driving over that. Visited December 17th and 18th…read more There is so much to see and do at the old waterfront in Sacramento! You have museums...trains..boat cruises..all in walking distance to this wholesome place! They have 5 star restaurants such as Vs Paradise and The Firehouse plus more casual places like Joe's Crab Shack. It is kiddo friendly with old time candy shops as well! If you want to slow down the pace and relax come here! I stay at the Delta King when visiting and walk around at night feeling totally safe ( well lit ). Enjoy the 60 foot Christmas tree and the Polar Express Train rides!
