This was a traumatised city and it was this way I guess 40 years. On our 2nd tour it again struck me how he tells the truth of the horror without any rancour or bitterness - he lived in it and through it. Our Irish tour had a total of five people on a sixteen-person bus. We had a running discussion of Irish history, culture, and cuisine you just cannot get on a 60-person big bus tour. On our tour of Ireland this was by far the worst hotel on our trip. In all fairness, the location is pretty nice. It's located on the river, only a few steps from the Pease Bridge and maybe a block or so from the inner city. That's where the good things end! The hotel is old and the amenities are poor or nonexistent. Where do I start? No refrigerator, only two plugs in the room which are located far away from the bed. The beds are hard and uncomfortable and the pillows suck (flat and hard)! No air conditioning and the TV is tiny. Instead of A/C there is a fan in the room. Food on the breakfast buffet ran out fast and took a long time to restock. And the service was in no hurry to get anything. Entertainment in the bar area was comically bad. I actually thought that it was karaoke when we walked in and sat down!

The "gentleman" at the front desk was not honest about what was booked or not available and was rude to boot. Not only that the travel cot we paid for is nowhere to be found. There's no elevator, the bathroom needs some attention and everything else is dingy and worn. Just realized the WiFi is not working, so one more thing we paid for and didn't get.

Just remember to bring your stub in. Ireland is not really known I think for its iced coffee drinks so probably steer clear of ordering an Iced latte. Not horrible, but not great. The food however, was pretty tasty. We got the Carmelized onion and goat cheese tart And the Pan seared Rockville farm chicken. Both were done well, and the price is paid. If you can eat in the back of the restaurant, it probably has slightly more character as the front has windows only looking out to the parking lot. Parking is free for guest of the hotel. Otherwise you pay 10 pounds.
