This place is a awesome tattoo shop to get your art done at. I got my very first tattoo from the artist, Matt. He helped me though my first experience tremendously as I came in a bit nervous. He is very talented, nice and understanding man. He will work out every detail of your desired tattoo as you like and modify to your liking. I came in with a tattoo in mind, he had the sketch prepared and ready to go..... I changed my mind at the VERY last second and this didn't bother his what so ever! He scrapped the previous deign and got to work on the whole new design immediately. He definitely came though with flying colors. What an absolute amazing experience. I was referred here from another shop. I was looking for a finger tattoo on my ring finger to have in pair with proposing to my girlfriend with while on vacation. I spoke with David who clicked with me instantly on what I was looking to accomplish. He reviewed all the details of what I was looking for; fine tuning what would work better for the placement, design and how it would heal overall. By the end of the call he was not only fully invested in the tattoo but very excited about the meaning behind it. A $50 deposited was placed to hold the appointment made which is not anything surprising. They were very quick with responses, noting the examples sent over and ensuring everything looked great for when I arrived. Once at Tough Luck, I was instantly greeted and felt very welcomed into the shop. I was fortunate enough to talk to Koda both through email as well as in the shop who was super sweet, caring, and very interested in the tattoo I was getting. She made sure to also review anything I was signing and that any questions were answered. The big even came with meeting David in person who reviewed everything with me including, what tools/instruments he would be using, if I liked the placement, I'd liked the design, what he would be doing, the different color gradients, and literally everything in between. His attention to detail and artistry absolutely showed through in this tattoo. I could not be happy with the end result. The price of the tattoo was more than fair, and to see the excitement on his face made me feel even more confident. He is a true asset to his craft, takes any challenge with such grace and expertise, and I hope to visit again for even more work. The trip from RI to there would be more than worth it. I can't believe that this shop doesn't have enough or a better reviews. I had a giraffe And my hubby name tattooed in July of 2018 and my artist was Sean. It's turned out awesome. When my friend made our appointment we were scheduled with someone else but that person was in the hospital I believe. Sean and the other artist made sure that our experience was a good one. I spent the past week with my family in Lewes. I just happened to drive by tough luck and looked into the shop due to the nice exterior. I was able to get the tattoo the same day I called. The people gave off a very friendly vibe:) Unfortunately I don't remember the name of my artist but I know she was new to the shop, she was super nice and made me feel comfortable. I wasn't spoken to until about 20min after sitting and waiting. Eventually I was approached and the guy was very rude asked me "did you want something?" And had a smirk on his face almost like he thought my questions were funny. I didn't feel welcome, the guy whoever he was made me feel like a complete idiot. I suggest working on being able to make all types of people feel welcome regardless of how they may look. I may not have had as many tattoos as you or piercings or whatever but everyone starts with a blank slate. I suggest going somewhere else because these people were not friendly!!!! read more

So I gave this place a call to set up a reservation for a tattoo which they had set to be two days after I made the call. However I gave them a call again the next day to modify the res and when I called they had no record of it. They told me still to come in the next day which I did. I got there and they still had NO record of the reservation. Was told my artist would be Savannah. My tattoo was a 3x4 inch non color, not very detailed lion for my tricep. Was told it would cost $250! Sat down in the waiting room for 2 full hours before she even started my tatt. Once we started it took her an hour just to do the outline at which point she decided to stop and take a 10-15 min break to make a phone call or two. Afterwards it took her another hour and change to shade the tattoo totaling 2 and a half hours for the entire thing!! The fact that the tattoo turned out nice is the only reason this review deserves at least one star otherwise the worst experience I've had in a tattoo shop read more

Finding a good place to get work done is sometimes difficult. You want to find a place that feels welcoming and can do a good job. When I got my piece done at Tough Luck by Kris, it was just that. He did an amazing job and I don't want to go to any other place. I get compliments all the time from other tattoo artist and they always ask me where I got it done at. I live in Baltimore and I can honestly say driving to Delaware to go to Tough Luck is definitely worth the trip. read more
