I never go out of my way to give reviews. For me, it's just a waste of time. But the experience I had with this dental clinic prompted me to make an account with yelp just to warn others about it.
I found this clinic through yelp last 2016, they had good reviews back then thats why I chose this clinic.
Now, I am not surprised that they have more than 1 star reviews and I will not be surprised that they will get more in the future unless they change one thing. That one thing is what prompted me to find time to give Touchstone Dentistry a negative review to hopefully wake the dentist up and do something about it before they loose all their patients and get more negative reviews.
First let me give the credit to where its due. Dr. Agee Kunjumon is a pleasant dentist. He'll entertain your questions and gives time to answer all of it. Second, they are flexible with their schedule. They have late appointment times that can accommodate you after work. Heather will communicate to you and will try to find a schedule that will work for you if you will have a conflict on your original schedule. Third, the dental hygienists there were very professional and thorough with their work. Becky was my first hygienist and she was great but the last three cleanings I had with them was done by Ozzy. He was very thorough and fastidious. If ever I would come back to that clinic, its because of Ozzy's work ethics.
Now lets go to the reason why I'm giving this clinic a negative 1 star review. There is a lady in billing department whose name is Jennifer/Jen. HORRIBLE ATTITUDE! I still recall the first time we went there last November 2016. My wife and I had our first time check up and cleaning. We had to bring our 6 and 4 yr old children as we did not have a baby sitter. We took turns so that one could be seen by the dentist and the other one could be with our toddlers. After we had left, my wife told me that when I was being seen by the dentist, this Jen shouted at my toddlers " Could you keep it down!" My wife said that her tone was not a request but rather more of an annoyed high toned voice and she addressed it to my kids and did not even ask my wife even though she was with them. I have to admit that my boys can get rowdy at times but she could have asked my wife nicely and she would have brought my kids to our car and waited for me there. We tried to forget about that incident and gave them another chance as we liked the dentist and "some of the staff". So we kept going back to that clinic but we made sure that my wife and I would have different appointment schedules so that one could stay home with our kids and one can go to the dentist. The second time I encountered Jen's horrible attitude was when I told her that my insurance overpaid last 2016. She gave me terms and amount breakdown jargon and said it in an aggressive tone so that you will be confused and will just agree with her. I called my insurance and asked them to explain my EOB(Explanation Of Benefits). Thats when I understood that I was right, that my insurance did overpay and that I have a credit on that clinic. When I came back and told Heather about it, she listened to me and told me that they will look in to it. Sure enough, I had a credit and they issued a check for it. Fast forward to January 2018, I went there last week because I wanted to settle my payables for 2017. Knowing that if I wanted to continue going to this clinic, the only way I could avoid encountering this Jen in the future is to avoid having any payables carryover to 2018. In that way I dont have to deal with billing dept. I reviewed my insurance account and EOB more than 3 times and made sure I understood all the services done, the amount billed and the amount to which I am responsible. After thoroughly reviewing my account, I found out that I have a credit and my wife's account has a payable. I deducted the credit amount to my wife's account and found out that I still have a payable and owe them a certain amount. As I've said earlier, I tried to settle that account but I wanted to pay the right amount and not pay any extra as they billed me higher than what I should be paying. I was happy to initially talk to Heather about my payable however this Jen took over and the conversation went downhill from there. She again tried to complicate things and tried to confuse me by going in circles in an aggressive tone hoping that I will just agree with her. Unbeknownst to her, I already reviewed my account multiple times and understood all the terms and amount in it. In short, I already know the right amount that I should be paying. She was not listening to my explanations and kept being aggressive while talking to me. I do not understand how this unprofessional and unethical woman works in a nice clinic like this.
Anyway, this was the last straw. I am not going to this clinic again as long as this woman works there. This is where the saying is true,
