Terrible customer service tonight on 2/4/2026 at 6 pm at the Sugar Land Location! I ring the special service bell to get help to open the locked cabinet as I wanted to buy 750 ml of Clase Azul Tequila for $167! The Manager who came to me was an African American lady who was so "Unprofessional" and blatantly rude! First she walks up and asks rudely what do you want? When i replied Clase Azul, her response was " Why do you guys like this shit?" Seriously? Your manager needs to be more professional and she has no right to demeaner the choices of customers especially while buying expensive items. Three strikes and you're OUT!!! Three times their curbside pickup failed. I either have to go inside and get it myself or I have to drive over to the Wendy's, open the TotalWine app and tell them I am in spot 4 and then rush over to spot 4 and hope the spot is still open. TotalWine needs to have some WiFi extenders out by their front door with a range to reach their curbside parking. If I have to go inside Total Wine, I might as well go inside of Spec's with is closer to my home. I only go to Total Wine for the convenience of curbside pickup. read more

This is their price match policy. They do not like to honor their own policy and will give you the run around about it. Apparently, (even though it is not in writing), it is up to the store manager to decide what they will and will not honor as far as price match. So none of this on their website price match policy applies. It's just there to get you in the store. Go in do exactly what their website says for their price match policy and managers will come up with ways to dispute it. Cashiers are not trained on store policy either. Annoying and waste of time. I'll go to Specks or a mom and pop store next time. I wanted a wine that had a $5 difference at another local store. I showed the ad and showed the policy but had to argue for them to follow their own policy. The store manager kept insisting it was a promotional price and he had to be sure he was not. It was CLEARLY not. When the other store's ads had big red flags over their promotions saying "sale". And the wine I wanted did not. So no, it was clearly not a promotion at the other store. I didn't want to waste my time going all over the place when everything I needed was in the same shopping center. After arguing with the store manager for several minutes, the store manager finally agreed and gave it to me. The cashier didn't know you even had a price match policy and called a 2nd manager over before the store manager could get to the register. The 2nd manager gave me more attitude and push back than the store manager! I shouldn't have had so much push back and the second manager off the bat also automatically trying to deny me TOTAL WINE's policy. Ridiculous. Your customer service is trash btw manager #2 with your RUDE ATTITUDE, obsessive sparkles and excessive makeup on. Unprofessional too. read more

This was only a partial whine, not a total whine, which would have been more of a tirade. Generally speaking, it's a good wine store with similar prices to a lot of the other chain wine stores. The problem arises when it comes to some of the attitudes and the way they enforce their rules, even enforcing rules that don't exist. I'm sure you've seen some of the other horror stories, but they're fine if you are not on the list of people that they don't like serving, and I'm saying this as someone who sort of is. read more

Total wine always is larger and has a much bigger selection the average Specs (I saw average because the downtown location and Galveston location are large) I was able to find everything I was looking for but wasn't too pleased with how the cashier treated me when I presented an Arizona state license. I understand the old arizona license design looked almost fake but this ID has the real id mark on it and was 100% real. I look young for a woman in her 30s so I get checking my ID but she had to call a manager to determine if they would accept my ID. They questioned me about everything on my ID before deciding that they would "let this slide" I thought that alot of alcohol stores were trained on many of the state IDS and a simple google search on the phone could of determined if I had a real arizona license. This was my first time at this location as I always Instacart stuff from here but I believe I will stick to just instacart for anything I need from this location here on out. read more

When I lived in West U, I went to events in their classroom. I have a Service Dog and they were always courteous. Now, I'm in Stafford & the Sugar Land store isn't convenient. Not that it isn't a nice store, it's just hard to get to. read more

we always have a good experience we left specs to go there. Everyone seem friendly. There's a manager that is very kind. Every time we go but last weekend, it was horrible. One of the men that does tasting was grumpy and two of the cashiers were rude. I spoke to the manager. She seems bothered by me, telling her my bad experience people spend a lot of money there. It's important to have friendly faces , that day employees seemed like they we're unhappy to be working there , they need to be more picky on their selections of employees even management. , good customer service is very important. I've been doing it for years. I treat customers the way I wanna be treated. I love the store and will keep going. Hopefully, they will do better in customer service. read more

I came here on opening day to check out the store and get a free tote and was not disappointed! This place is HUGE and boasts the biggest selection of alcohol I have ever seen before in one place. There were lots of sample stations since it was opening day and my husband's favorites were the Glenmorangie 18 and the Moet Chandon rosé champagne. They also had a cheese and cracker station positioned at the front of the store. Oh, and they were etching whiskey bottles with your design of choice, too! It is quite easy to spend 20 min in here leisurely browsing the aisles. There's a tasting room, a cigar/humidor room, and a huge walk in beer cooler. They also have a really large selection of mini bottles, which was really fun to peruse. I even found a bottle of strawberry sake that I had once that was super delicious. The selection is, like I said earlier, amazing here. This place will definitely be my new go-to place for anything alcohol! read more

Wow just wow. Umm where to begin. The selection amazing. I can't remember why I went in but wine was involved. A man working the wine section was quite knowledgeable about French blends. He could talk the talk. I'm WSET certified- just level 1 but he could answer all my questions. I bought what I came in for and a suggested wine from him. Very good recommendation. This is a big store. Lots to choose from. I wandered a bit as it was only my second time in a wine and more. Great store. read more

It's a good place to go to for classes, but I'm not sure if it rivals the selection of their other store closer to Town and Country. Some of the nice things about the classes their is that the venue space is larger. The layout from store to store isn't identical...which is odd considering, but you can find your way around quickly enough. The only real knock against this place is that we can't find what we're looking for when we come here and I haven't seen vendors come here as often as the one closer to Town and Country. I'm not sure why that is. I'm sure a vendor has come here, but not when I'm their, which is often enough for me to make note of it. The staff is professional, but not necessarily brimming with friendliness. That's not a bad thing, but if you wanted to be able to say, "Hi Bob," maybe this isn't your ideal liquor/wine/whatever they advertise as themselves store. It's clean. It's pretty. I don't drink alcohol but whenever I need a gift or need to bring wine or a bottle of something to a dinner / friends, I go to Total Wine! I used to go to Specs but Total Wine has employees that are just more helpful! I love that they stick within my price range, it's well laid out, clean and newer looking than all the Specs. Update: 1/6/2019: Pandering with resistance. During my last visit, I found it a bizarre that all of their alcohol selections, historically marketed to minorities or people in lower socio-economic areas, were encased with a "Video Taping in Progress" sign placated on the glass and if the selections weren't encased, the sign was clearly apparent. It's a little strange that Ciroc, E&J (laughable), Remy Martin, Hennessy, etc., would be encased, while "higher end" or differently targeted selections are readily available. Blatancy supersedes sensitivity. My previous review is still pretty accurate, but eating in the kitchen is no longer a requirement. read more

Great wine store. So many selection, i can stay here all day. They have a humidor and a tasting bar. Tips, come Friday and Saturday to try their wines and beers free!! What a deal. Just bought 4 bottles of Tuli on sale. 2 for $29.98. Joseph Wagner, the winemaker that makes Meiomi and sold to constellation brand for over $300mil. He and his dad used to work for the caymus winery. I love their pinot noir, one of the best budget red wine. Check out online firvthe many classes and events they offered. Love this place!!! Ridiculous. Placed an order online and the driver took my order back to the store because my driver's license is expired. Due to Covid and several health conditions, I have not renewed my license, as is allowed by the state. I can legally drive with this ID, but apparently I can't buy alcohol with it. I even offered my passport as a form of identification. Spoke to the manager who blamed Doordash policy and insinuated that I was lying about the state allowing the expiration date to be extended. He then said the policy required a valid form of identification. Under state law, my ID is a valid. The expiration date was extended due to Covid. I also had my passport, but the delivery person said the app didn't allow for it. Edit: I just checked Doordash's policy and spoke with their customer service. Both confirmed that a valid Passport IS considered valid identification. read more

The store is beautiful and big and have everything you're looking for but the customer service was great until I got to the checkout register and the man checking me out. I believe his name was Michael. I didn't appreciate his attitude. Yes, I look very young so of course I'm going to get ID. The man snatched the ID from my hand he didn't scan my ID. I guess he suspected my ID is fake, which also read me the wrong way service is horrible on university Boulevard so my phone was loading a little slow so I can Apple Pay the man proceeded to walk behind thecounter and try to grab to phone and connect me to the WiFi mind you I had already did this. I suffer from PTSD and anxiety so it very much made me highly uncomfortable. I didn't appreciate me being rushed or the whole way I was treated in the whole situation. This establishment has embarrassed me and I was racially profiled and discriminated against by ANGELA the cashier and her back up dog of a manager Joshua! It is almost 100 degrees outside and I went in today to shop for my wedding that is upcoming . The experience started off nice but ended up a nightmare. After shopping for 30 minutes , talking with 2 associates and filling my cart up , I got to the cashier Angela who btw did not ID the Caucasian man in front of me and she asked for my id and my 12 year old sister (who I have legal guardianship over) ID . Newsflash black children are not automatically adults . I told her that she didn't touch anything,it's definitely not for her , and I can't just leave her in the hot car! Well done to Total Wine to respond to the Covid-19 pandemic in such a responsible manner. The store had wipes for carts readily available and a bucket to take used wipes. The floor was marked off in 6-foot sections to give guidance to social distancing. Employees wore gloves or masks or both. The checkout process was clean and effective. Total Wine has really stepped up during this crisis to keep it's employees and customers as safe as possible. read more

This place just opened and I've been 3 or 4 times? The section of beer and wine is excellent. There is also more as the name suggests. I've bought beer, wine, liquor and accessories. I also purchased the UIIO wine aerator and tannin remover filter. Their price was the same as amazon. Staff is friendly, and i love that they have vendors around so you can sample their drinks. They have a great variety, but the staff on the floor are not helpful. They don't ask if they can help you and if you ask for help, they either seem clueless as to what you're talking about or barely answer you when asked a question, and then just point. I don't understand it. It's a huge store with huge a inventory, so customers are going to need some assistance. Today, I had to get my phone out and look up the item I needed and where it's located, because the person I asked looked on the inventory and said they don't carry that. I am torn writing this review as I really like this store. They have the supplies my family and I love, including an international section with international beer, and the prices are competitive. However, it is always the attitude of the staff that makes or breaks a good business. Pre-covid days I hated going into the store to shop in Sugar Land, Tx because the staff wasn't very helpful. During the pandemic I collected my purchases curbside and it was excellent. Last week I walked into the store for the first time since early 2020, I could not find what I wanted so I asked a male staff, he barely looked around a corner and proceeded to tell me they are out of stock. I said they are not, I saw it online, and went around the corner and found what I wanted. At the register I asked the cashier if I could have an empty box, she said "Only one because the holidays are coming up..." I only needed one but wanted to say "Am I not spending my money here just like the customers you are saving boxes for?" I took a box and left. I think I will continue to shop curbside at TWM, but use SPEC's for instore. Their attitude is much nicer and mellow, like I expect a store that sells alcohol to be :) read more

Total Wine has lost a customer for life. I recently purchased a bottle of liquor from this location and upon arriving home, I noticed that the plastic cover was missing and the seal was broken. Obviously I could not drink from it as someone could have put something in it. This, in and of itself, was inconvenient as I had to make an emergency trip that evening to another store for a replacement. Today, I tried to exchange the bottle and was told that because I was not on their rewards list, they couldn't accept it. Despite being able to provide the exact date of purchase and the credit card used, they refused to help. Instead of finding a solution, they simply denied my request and gave me the run around. My household spent tens of thousands of dollars on wine and liquor last year alone, and over an $85 bottle, I will not be spending another dime at Total Wine, and I will dissuade others from doing so as well. I left the bottle for them to do as they want with and drove down the street to SPECS and bought the same liquor as well as some other items. With the amount of competition out there it is surprising to me the unwillingness of store managers to try and help a customer who was sold a bad bill of goods from THEIR store. Imagine if I had not realized it was previously opened, drank some, and something bad had happened? Store would have been renamed "Will's Total Wine & More". read more

Wow! I am thoroughly impressed at their wine selection and their prices. I came in here looking for beer for my husband and discovered a mecca of alcohol. The store layout is friendly with multiple tasting stations for both wine and hard liquor. I came here for beer and end up grabbing two bottles of wine, a bottle of fireball and a case of beer. Their beer selection is small but enough to satisfy most crowds. I will definitely be back when I have more time to explore each aisle! I think most of my christmas shopping will be happening here this year! read more

Friendly staff and sample stations. They do make pretty good suggestions and they know where to find things. Good selection of so many things, including cigars - that was a pleasant surprise! On 4/2/2020 afternoon I went to this place to shop. This is the worst place to get liquor ever! The customer service is so horrible! I asked three different sales reps on the floor for a specific product and all three pointed me to a different place that product was not located. I know at this time of COVID19, social distancing is important and I respect that very much. But as for a sales rep, at least he/she can do is direct the customer to the product but still maintain social distance. Very disappointed about on Total Wine! read more

I shop at this location 3-4 times a month consistently, spending a couple hundred dollars. Usually I have no issues, get what I want and leave. Yesterday, however, was a little different. I "attempted" to purchase a 12 pack of WATER (Grapefruit Bubly to be exact - which until recently was only available in an 8 pack) in addition to my rum, vodka, beer, etc. Upon attempting to check out, the 12 pack of water was not in their computer system; however, the 8 pack was. Two managers were consulted and both were dumbfounded and of zero help to the poor embarrassed checkout guy. When I asked if I could just pay the 8 pack price you would have thought I asked them to empty the registers!!! Nope! No waters for me!! They refused to sell it to me. WATER!!! How much were those 4 additional waters worth to you that you would rather lose a regular customer??? $1.50 maybe??? Even the gentleman behind me could not believe they would not sell it to me and then figure it out later! I mean, it was WATER!!! What an example of extremely poor customer service. read more
