This is the place to be on a Saturday afternoon. Everyone was sampling different spirits. As soon as we walked in the front door, boom, table set up with some yummy samples. Went down an isle, another table. Another isle, and another table set up. This is the adult version of Toys R Us. We were helped, looking for a certain bottle for my friend. Everyone was so nice and helpful. And really educating us on the different brands, giving opinions of the flavor and even someone said most vodkas are made of corn, but this brand is wheat. Walking in we were offered a sample tasting of various types of drinks. We then went looking for a certain tequila but they didn't have it. One of the ladies giving out samples gave us some options but we was sure it we would like it. The lady that was sampling got a manager I believe to help us. He checked a few areas and told us they were out but he recommended a few other ones and even let us sample. I said next I come I will taste the rum ones. He then said that we can after this tasting. So we tasted a few rums and he hit the nail on the head with the first one. The selection of drinks they have is great. David was his name. David grave great service. All the employees did. Excellent selection for any spirit you want, would like to see them get Weller and Buffalo Trace on a more consistent basis. Good selection of Texas beer and spirits and unlike Specs they don't charge a CC fee. Their rewards program is decent and they have a good selection of kegs, if they don't have it they can order it. read more

Visited this location of Total Wine & More while at a friends house after we realized we needed a few more items to bring with us to a house warming / birthday event later that evening. Once entering the store, we received a warm welcome and quickly came across a sales associate offering samples of some of their seasonal products. This associate asked if we needed help finding anything and offered suggestions based on the type of items we were looking for. After chatting for a little while about red wines, we tried a couple of items and then went on with our shopping. Throughout the store, we were offered help by other associates and also came across additional little stands offering samples. One thing that was so nice was that while I was looking at the flavored whiskeys (the birthday gift that was requested for the party later)...we were able to "try before we buy" so that we knew what we got would be good! After trying a few, we settled on the birthday cake flavored whiskey as it seemed appropriate and tasted like it would be right up the bday girl's ally. Quick tactical stop to pick up a wine bottle bag. Customary store layout, as I shop the location in Sunset Valley often enough to be familiar. Score on that count.Total Success! In this Total, the restrooms are at the back of the store instead of as you enter. It's not something one intentionally seeks out at a liquor store, but I've had the need on more than one occasion. Unfortunately, in this case, it's a matter of out-of-sight is out-of-mind, as I found the men's room a bit dirty and ragged around noon on a Friday--far too early in the day to be due to foot traffic alone. That's in stark contrast to the Total near me with its sparkling, nearly spotless restrooms. If that aspect doesn't seem important to you, remember they hold tastings here. Their brand ambassadors can only be as clean as the facilities in which they clean up. Then again, alcohol kills most germs, so party on! Four stars, and TOTALLY recommended! read more

I went here and across the interstate to Spec's to see who had a selection of Shinner beer. Total wine not only had more Shinner varieties they also had a bigger and better beer selection. I think they had a better selection of everything period. The staff interaction was pleasant but they didn't have a lot of people on the floor to help you while you were shopping. The other issue I had was actually getting out of the store. They have the doors blocked off to force you to go through a checkout line. Ideal for samples! Friendly staff, decent pricing. A lot of times I have been there samples were being offered, which is kind of cool. Not just wines or beers, but whiskey and tequila and such. Once I was offered absinthe and the man giving out the samples was the business owner all the way from Oregon! It was like a reverse Oregon-trail, I told him after the sample. Selection is not what I expect from Total Wine, I have shopped at their locations across the U.S. and this is the least I have experienced. Some of it might be due to Texas Law, as I asked why other stores (such as in Houston) can't ship to this location, and I was told it was Texas law. This place has everything what every whisky,tequila,Vodka,Wine drinker and much much more and don't forget the accessories but they got your back on that too. Friendly service and even tho I was just walking around drooling over all the stuff they have I didn't feel out of place I felt welcome. I am closer to the Rim location and hopefully that one is just as good or even better. I love that there is an undeniably HUGE selection of booze. I hate that the employees have to push certain items. We were visiting from out of town & wanted to purchase some wine. They were sold out of our favorite brand (obviously-Cooper & Thief) so we were recommended some other wine that was supposed to be similar and purchased 3 bottles. When we got it home they were all horrible. We tried this brand and it's 3 varietals and didn't care for any. THANK GOODNESS they offered a refund even though the bottle was opened. We ended up getting bottles we knew to avoid anymore waste. read more

There's was a wine tasting and class going on when I went in but didn't have time to try anything. Plenty of samples throughout the store as well. At check out I was given a goody bag with a free cork screw and plenty of Special offers and coupons . The cashier also took $5 off my wine tote . There's also free books on wine, beer, and cigars. I've been there three different times and each time they didn't carry what I was looking for. Only once did someone, the manager, offer to help. The other times, even though the store was nearly empty and there were a half dozen employees walking the isles no one even asked to help me find anything. There are other places to go. Went in today to find some gifts for Christmas and after searching through the singles section for beer, I found beer that was not only out of season, but most importantly, out of date! I found beer that was best by 2017, 2018 and January of 2019, it's December 2019 guys!!! When bringing the out of date beer to managements attention, my husband and I were pretty much scoffed at and they tried to educate us on the fact that beer can age. So Our Keg Blew Saturday Early Evening. Typically We Shop For Adult Beverages At Specs Or Total Wine In Selma. My Wife, As Usual, Called Both Stores To See If The Beer We Wanted Was Available. Specs Only Had A Pony Keg But Total Wine Had A Full One. We Decided To Go With The Full Keg At Total Wine And Asked Them To Put A Hold On One For Us. When My Wife Walks In With The Empty Keg And Approached The Customer Service Counter, A Female Employee Told Her She Could Leave The Empty There An Just Go Back To The Coolers And Get Her Keg. My Wife Advised Me That She Stood There For A Moment In Disbelief That This Lady Told Her To Go Back And Get Her Own 130# Keg. As My Wife Stood There Looking At Her, The Lady Said Sarcastically She Wasn't Going To Get It. My Wife's Response To Her Was That She Herself Wasn't Gonna Go And Get It Either. That's When The Lady Decided To Call For Someone To Assist Her With The Keg. When My Wife Gets To The Cooler A Male Employee Asked If She Was The One That Needed Help With A Keg. When She Told Him She Did He Then Told Her, Sarcastically, That He Couldn't Get The Keg. At That Point Being Pretty Much Appalled With The Lack Of Service, She Told Him Not To Worry And That She Would Just Go To Specs. Of Course At That Time He Told Her He Would Help But Had To Go Get A Dolly. I was only in the store for a few minutes and Alda was so helpful! She directed me exactly where to find the mini Peppermint Schnapps and then when she realized there were no more on shelf she offered to go to the back to check. She brought a whole box out and made sure I had as many as I needed. She provided this great customer service for just a couple of mini bottles while also directing the long lines (that were moving pretty fast) and making sure one of the employees took her lunch break by closing the line without ruffling any feathers.
