Uncomfortable experience! The first time I went in, I had forgotten my ID but had a photo of it. I understand that's not acceptable, so I drove all the way back home to get my physical ID and returned because I really liked their deals and variety. When I came back, I was denied service because my boyfriend, who was with me, didn't have his ID. I found this frustrating because I am of legal age and was the one making the purchase. As a young woman going into a liquor store late at night, it's completely normal for my boyfriend to come in with me. I understand policies are in place, but this felt excessive and inconvenient, especially after I had already made the effort to come back with proper identification. It just didn't seem reasonable in this situation. I told my parents and they never heard of such. The woman at the front counter seemed to judge me as soon as I walked in and came across as pushy and a bit unwelcoming. I understand that I look young and I recently turned 21, but I am of legal age and had valid ID with me. The way the situation was handled felt unnecessary and, honestly, a bit like I was being singled out. I completely respect store policies, but the overall experience felt uncomfortable and could have been handled more professionally. read more

This Total Wine seems a tad smaller than the Orlando locations, but it still packs a lot of variety between its walls. This is the adult Toys R Us for the drinking person. Wait, not "Adult Toys", that's different, but you get what I'm saying. The staff is pretty helpful as I had a number of people assist me in finding what I was looking for and retrieving items from the locked case. I found out they have a concierge service for harder to find items, and also that they're in a different market than the Orlando stores, which means they may have different selections to. And vice versa for your vices if you're in Melbourne... Come to Orlando! My trip was successful and I'm glad I had the SUV with me! The parking lot is a bit of a challenge, but that's due to the design of the Vierra shopping center. Luckily, this is on the outside edge so it's easy in-and-out if you're just going here. read more

There's a certain beer that my wife really likes and for some reason, it's only available at some Total Wine outlets. This one in Melbourne is one of them. Not very busy on a weekday at 10am so I was able to browse and shop without being disturbed. And the beer was exactly where it was supposed to be. This is really a state of the art beer, wine and liquor store. The selection and value are unmatched by anywhere I am familiar with in the area. On our last visit we got some incredible French sparkling rose wine at a great price. The only issue is they just have so many products you could spend a long time travelling the aisles. read more

Great selection of everything. They will occasionally have tastings or classes; I recommend signing up for their emails to find out when they hold them and to get their coupons. I've had nothing but pleasant interactions with the majority of employees here. You can tell which ones know their stuff and those are the ones I generally stalk down for advice. I've been to this Total Wine now on several occasions. After hearing so much about them I finally had the chance to go, and so I did. Boy, was I sure glad. My very first experience was absolutely incredible. Being my first time there I was absolutely overwhelmed by the size, selection, and sheer quantity of stuff the store has to offer. If you're looking for booze, from the mundane and cheap to the the classy and pricey - this is the place to go. On my first and subsequent trips, I have found the staff to be very friendly and sincerely willing and wanting to help or answer any questions - no matter how obvious the answer may be. I've very rarely (if ever) have reviewed supermarkets or establishments other than hotels and restaurants, but this place warranted a review - and a real good one at that. read more

Being here is comparable to a kid in a huge candy store! They are the best! I'm a tequila aficionado and this is my ultimate go to place for selection. So I got I.d. To buy cheese and a summer sausage. How embarrassing. The woman could've had a better attitude at least. We went in as a group bought a overpriced bottle of whisky. I of course didn't realize my group had left and was with two other people so I was more focused on the fact that they sold gruyere cheese! So I'm going to ring up and the woman or "girl" (because of her attitude) asked to see our i.d.s because the guy I was with was buy a small bottle and the other guy said "wait all of our i.d.s?? I'm not buying anything and she's buying cheese and a summer sausage!" So I'm trying to get on my phone so I can get my id from my boyfriend so I can buy F* cheese!! And the guys grew impatient because we had a line behind us and we just left. Just let me buy my cheese! Why make such a big ordeal if there's a line? I wish I got her name but she's like 5"6 long curly black hair, maybe hispanic or mixed idk but god! If she didn't give us the attitude I would've went to the car to get my i.d. As others have remarked they have an impressive collection of all types of liquor. My one complaint is their bogus rewards points program. It's useless for any type of brand name scotch that I drink! In two years I don't think I received any discounts, or coupons that I can actually use. Their emails feature many times their house brands. Scotch aged 3 years is not going to fit with me. How can you not give 5 stars to a place with, what is it? 8,000 labels? Staggering. But I give TW 5 stars for much more besides selection, knowledge, and experience... I work in a heavily wine-related business in Italy, and have come to know many winemakers. The United States is an extremely difficult market to break into, because each state has different laws regarding the importing of wine, even between states. Because of this, only the massive multi-million bottle per year producers are normally able to enter the US on a nation-wide scale. The mid-sized producers are usually able to get distribution in several states, having their wine found only in a few select stores or restaurants. The smaller artisan producers have no hope of making it into the US. Total Wine has enabled many of those mid-sized producers to get into distribution on a national scale in the US. So what does that mean to us as consumers? Thanks to Total Wine, we have access to MANY wines we would not otherwise have access to. Better still, they are often much better than the big names we see elsewhere. So major thumbs up to TW for expanding as they have, especially here to Viera. My tip for anyone reading this while in Total Wine: As you are browsing the wines offered here, it is easy to get caught up in wine ratings. You know, This wine got a 96 in Wine Spectator, so it must be good. Keep in mind that very few wines are reviewed. So the lack of a point rating means nothing. You may buy that Brunello for $90 with a high rating, and skip the one next to it for half the price because it has no rating... but it may very well be far superior. And in some cases it may even be the same wine with a different label! read more

Selection is impressive. They must carry every bad tasting crummy microbrew from here to Poughkeepsie. Hipsters rejoice! Their wines are especially varied, from all corners of the earth, always with a helpful soul to guide you in the right direction for a special vintage or a comparable bargain. Liquors are fairly priced too, although there never seems to be enough Svedka Iced Tea vodka, but whatever. We took a class on Wine Tasting that was silly. It was hosted by a gentleman who opened his dialogue, no lie, with the line "I drank a lot of wine." I was in town for the weekend and saw the new store. Went back to the place I was staying and did an internet order for a particular wine for my wife. I went to pick it up the next morning and was blown away by the size and selection of this total wine compared to ours in VA. I started looking around and talking with the Manager James...the next thing I know I had a case of mixed bottles in my cart. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I would ask about some of the ones I liked and he would show them to me but also tell me about similar wines that were equal or better for less money! This is the mecca of alcohol. I was like a kid in the candy store when we first walked in. Aisles and aisles of wine, liquor, and beer; picture Walmart with only alcohol. We were looking in particular for green chartreuse and low and behold, they had it. They had a good selection of craft beers. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. Everything from high end scotch to Thunderbird, and more. If you're a microbrew nut, you'll be pleased too. We're talking 2 aisles of beer close to the length of a football field long. TW also offers a wide variety of classes and tastings several times a month. The schedule is on their website. Basically, this joint is epic. No hard sells, great descriptions on all the wines, ratings, and they'll even help box your order at checkout to keep your bottles safe.
