They were extremely careful and moved several things I had not thought about being in the way. They were all friendly and seemed to work really great as a team to get everything done. The job I had in mind included a large mature Silver Maple take-down as well as a couple of over-the-driveway sizable branches from another tree. From the beginning, I had wonderful communication with Frank J. I needed to remove a mature crabapple tree from my house in Dearborn. I emailed and called a few companies, and received an almost instant reply from Frank which impressed me. I feel that the agreed upon price was fair as the company completed all the City's pre-requirements, cut down the tree, ground down the stump and fully removed all related debris from my yard and the street. I received a written estimate from Total Tree in October 2020 for the removal of two large oak trees and the pruning of two additional oaks. Dan did the estimate and remained my point of contact throughout. I was happy with their quoted price and scheduled the services for December. The scheduling process was a bit awkward. I had to do everything thru text to Dan and it took awhile to get a date scheduled. Then a few days prior Dan called and said they had to cancel and would reschedule. After this I heard nothing till I reached out in February. With the severe winter weather I was told they couldn't do the work yet. I reached out again in mid March with no reply. I finally go ahold of Dan at the end of March and he gave me a lame excuse about their bucket truck being broke and they didn't know when it would be fixed so I should "probably find someone else to do the work" Unfortunately after waiting 4 months for them the trees are now going to start sprouting leaves meaning I'll have to wait till next winter to find someone else to do the pruning. This puts my house and fence at risk of damage from the dead limbs for another 8+ months. From interactions with Dan I had a suspicion he felt he under quoted my estimate. Instead of just being a professional and telling me they couldn't do the work, or saying the price would be higher, I believe he just strung me along, with no intent to actually do my services, in hopes I'd just give up and stop calling. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, even if they seem great at the estimate and give you a price that you can't refuse. read more

We had contacted 5 other tree services without success and were about to give up. We either did not receive return calls, or they did not show up to provide an estimate. We were getting discouraged as we had a lot of work to do. On contacting Total Tree Service, we were treated very courteously, a time was scheduled for an estimate, and Dan the estimator showed up right on time. He did a thorough walk through to make sure he understood what we wanted, gave us a very fair estimate, and asked when we would like the work done. We asked for as soon as possible. Dan scheduled us for the next day, and they showed up right on time, including Curtis the owner. After a detailed walk through, the crew went to work and was done about 2 1/2 hours later. Owner outright lied to me. Trees you want taken out will be "felled" onto trees he wanted to take out to pad the job for more profit, requiring you to now pay him to take out the ones he damaged that you wanted to keep. Just remember, they make money taking out trees and you'll see the bully attitude to push you to take out more trees than you planned or wanted. read more
