Total Fitness is a disgrace
I have been unwell for a month with a severe cough which I developed after swimming at Aintree branch which escalated into a severe and prolonged chest infection, following swimming in the small pool -which water was often colder than the advertised 32 degrees, and walking through the draughty freezing cold corridor which was not adequately insulated. This issue has been brought to the attention of your staff on numerous occasions over the entire winter period, by many members including myself.
As a result during this month I have been unable to attend to swim. When I went back, I found my 2 locked lockers, one for me and one for my three grandchildren who also have memberships, were empty and all my valuable belongings DISPOSED OF.
I was left devastated in a state of utter shock, I felt violated, disrespected, and even robbed as my private belongings have been thrown away, without any regards or concern for my basic rights over my property.
This is absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable. I have been a member for the last 10 months and you have my full contact details. At no point in this last month did I receive either a letter, an email, or a phone call to notify me that there was a change in policy YET I was contacted by Total Fitness for marketing purposes, asking me for the telephone number of 5 friends, so they could contact to offer them a free day visit (to encourage them to sign up as members). There is absolutely no excuse for not having contacted me to query why I hadn't returned or notify me that my possessions were at risk, and I was left utterly distressed by the actions of the club. This is an extreme breach of trust and my possessions have been taken with NO courtesy, care or respect.
One of the reason I had kept my possessions in the lockers is due to my sciatica (back pain), which prevents me carrying heavy loads, as a result, I always kept all my spare items in the lockers, and took home with me only the wet and damp items.
At no point throughout the 10 months was I notified not to leave my belongings in the lockers; neither at the point of joining/induction nor afterwards.
When I requested Total Fitness to conduct a full investigation and locate my items or provide a full replacement of each item in my lockers ( I provided them with all my receipts of the dispossessed items equivalent to more than £300 in value, they club refused to take responsibility for the DISPOSED items claiming it's "unfortunate that I was unwell during the time of putting the notice asking members to take their belongings otherwise they would be disposed off in THREE weeks, even though in their own contract they say that items would be kept up to FIVE weeks)
I was away for four weeks, yet they DISPOSED of?? all of my belongings and my grandchildren's
