My first clue was when she quoted me an hourly rate of $75/hour, but then wanted to charge me $350/month without ever having SEEN my books or my needs. She said she's been doing this a "long time" and could "tell" it would be 5-7 hours per month of work. That being said, what if it was 5? Or less than 5? Would I get a refund? No response. But I'm in need, so I still said ok. After dozens of emails back and forth, I provided her with passwords for my business accounts, credit cards, and Quick books portable file. I set her up with everything she needed to start my work. The second clue she gave me was asking me (again) which accounts were which (letting me know she couldn't handle complex law firm accounts). She also asked me repeatedly for things I had previously sent her in the same email string. When I responded to her that everything had been provided she emailed me back immediately and stated, "We have decided we are too busy to handle your books." Period. Mind you, by this time, I have told my current bookkeeper that I'm going with someone new. Oy-Vey! After receiving ALL my client's private information in my QB file, my usernames, passwords, statements, etc. and me firing my other bookkeeper, I'll have to change everything now and there's nothing I can do to retrieve my QB portable file. To say I was disappointed is a complete understatement. She's definitely not as organized as she claims to be. I definitely don't see how she has this many 5 star ratings. ??? UPDATE: just read her reply comment on my post. Takes no responsibility for her role in what happened. Just puts it back on me. Whatever Mary. The fist time that I had a bad experience with Mariette was when I had scheduled a telephone conversation with her weeks in advance. Then just before the meeting, she asked to reschedule. I'm busy too, but I understand if we have to reschedule. However, she is booked weeks in advance and to have to reschedule an appointment with Mariette can now take about a month from the first time that you wanted to talk to her. I then asked to be rescheduled to a different date and time that she suggested. I called her at the time we had scheduled and I didn't know that she had scheduled with someone else at that time. She said that I had asked for that time, but that she didn't confirm that appointment with me. She said that I had to request that appointment within a 72 hour window. I understand what she means, but she also didn't tell me that she couldn't make that appointment with me because she gave it to someone else. So here I am with an appointment in my calendar to discuss something with her that I wanted to tell her about a month ago and if I have to reschedule again then I have to wait another couple of weeks. Then she told me that she would call me, but never did. I actually think that Mariette is a victim of her own success. I'm sure that she's good. I'm sure that she knows what she is doing. But I'm also sure that she is too busy for me and inconsiderate of my time. I see how many 5 star reviews that Mariette has and I realize that this one star review goes completely against what others have written. But none of the other reviews are from a Yelp Elite member or with anyone with more than a handful of reviews. And I seldom give a one star review.
