Depew Park - One of Peekskill's Hidden Gems!…read more
I was here today with my grandson, and days like this remind me just how fortunate we are to have a place like Depew Park right here in Peekskill. There's so much space to enjoy, whether you're bringing the kids, exercising, playing sports, having a picnic, or simply looking for somewhere peaceful to spend some time outdoors.
Depew really has a little bit of everything. There's the playground for the kids, Veterans Memorial Pool for those hot summer days, basketball and tennis courts, bocce courts, horseshoe pits, ball fields, a track, picnic areas, grills, restrooms, and a beautiful picnic pavilion overlooking Lake Mitchell. There are also wooded walking and nature trails that give you a completely different experience from the recreational side of the park.
One of my favorite things about Depew is that you can go from watching kids play on the playground or people playing sports to walking into the wooded areas and feeling like you've gotten away from the city for a while. It's a great place to walk, exercise, explore, relax, or just sit and enjoy nature.
The park is also home to Peekskill's Recreation Office and Mother Nature's Preschool, and the City continues to invest in improvements. The multi-sport field, track, tennis/pickleball areas and other recreational spaces make this a park that can really be enjoyed by people of all ages.
But today, for me, it was simply about being here with my grandson. Making memories, enjoying the outdoors, and appreciating a beautiful local park right here in our own community.
Depew Park is truly one of Peekskill's treasures. Whether you come to swim, play basketball or tennis, walk the trails, have a picnic, exercise, bring the kids to the playground, or simply enjoy a beautiful day outside, there's something here for everyone.
Five stars from me -- and even better when you get to enjoy it with your grandson!
