Avoid like the plague. These guys do NOT do what they say. They sold stuff of mine that was…read morereliable and stuck it in some high risk funds and some 2 star funds. What?!? Hard to get ahold of. They definitely did not make me feel valued. I was talked to like I was an idiot with no investment experience. And their tax department. Doesn't really exist. They have some "preparers" but then pay someone at a big firm to review because they don't have the experience. They actually said you'd be better hiring your own firm and not using us. More later. Too angry to type more

Using EP Wealth Advisors (EPWA) was a complete disaster for us. When my wife fell victim to skilled…read morescammers that led her down a path of ruin, she had EPWA empty her retirement account of nearly $1 million (the scam was later the cover story on the February 8-14, 2025 edition of The Economist). She informed EPWA it would be put into crypto. While they advised against it, they took no action to notify me - something that would have been appropriate since that retirement money was a huge part of our financial plan that I, my wife, and EPWA were all signatories to. Hence, seems given the extreme risk being levied on that financial plan, it would make sense to at least send an email to me about the unusual action. But, no, and my name was never even mentioned. Chad Burton, who had been to our house when we became clients, would eventually hide behind his compliance officer, Mario Chilin and their lawyers, becoming totally silent on the matter after some initial contact to find out what happened (noting it was a subordinate handling our account). Mario would maintain they "met the elevated standards of service and duty as a Fiduciary." My God. Their lawyers would repeatedly maintain that it was not a "red flag" that my wife was putting all of her retirement money into crypto. Really??? I recently pointed out to them about a panel of advisors the Wall Street Journal interviewed concerning crypto - the conclusion - if one must have exposure to crypto, make it no more than 1% of your portfolio. That article was published before our scam. But, my wife putting 100% of her retirement into crypto wasn't a red flag??? I guess not in EPWA's world. Doesn't stop there. During a webinar hosted by some cybersecurity firm they paid to educate people on scams, when they got to something like our scam, I said in the chat box my wife had fallen prey to such a scam and followed with, "What should EPWA being doing to prevent such an obvious scam...EPWA could have just emailed me and nothing would have happened...EPWA should be smarter if they are handling large sums of money." For that, they immediately kicked me out of the webinar when I could have added to the education of the listeners, knowing more about the scam than those hosting it. Not only that - they then sent me a cease-and-desist letter claiming I'm defaming them. Unbelievable. They defame themselves. This is EPWA. It's all in writing. Nothing made up. Meanwhile, we've done a lot to fight the crime. My wife joined a group that ended up educating the FBI, Secret Service, and chief prosecutor on the crime (their work even led to the arrest of some in Cambodia). My wife has helped many other victims, sometimes talking some down from suicide. A book is being written about it by an investigative reporter. There is still much to do to fight the crime that becomes increasingly sophisticated, including the use of AI. All while we still have a cease-and-desist demand from EPWA. In my opinion, these are very bad people not deserving of people's business.

He's also guided me through the loss of a parent with exceptional care and kindness. He has taken away so much stress from my life and made finances easy! He's always super fun to talk to and is just the best at what he does. I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a top-notch CFP.

Generally speaking, discussing the topic of personal finances and money is seen as a crass or dirty…read morething. It's just not done. You're more likely to know someone's sexual orientation these days, than how much they have in their bank account. Money is the last taboo. Our culture and media fills us with ugly, confusing un-truths about money, and there's that age-old cliche, "Money is the root of all evil." And yet, we all want Bling. Ironic. With such negative connotations surrounding us, it's no wonder many Americans struggle to understand their finances, and have difficulty creating (and maintaining) wealth. IMHO, it is easy to place the blame on banks and the wealthy for "robbing" the 99%, but true money management means taking fiscal responsibility, discipline, and a good hard look at yourself, with regards to life goals and planning. It is also about not being afraid. With money being a topic that's so sensitive, I'm pleased to advocate the financial planning services provided to me by David Rae, CFP (Certified Financial Planner). Having grown up myself filled with negative, misleading money messages from my thrifty immigrant parents, I knew, after grad school, I needed help dealing with my finances for the long term. Their attitude was always, "We don't have enough!" While that's a truth in their eyes, it wasn't an attitude I wished to adopt. So I made it a point to understand my finances: understanding how I related to money is one thing (how do you save, spend, borrow, and invest?), but managing my own portfolio is quite another. My stint working in dotcoms, with the company 'going public' on IPO, gave me my first taste of stocks...and the headaches in taxes that came with it. Now a business owner living a full life, I simply do not have the time, the foresight, the training, nor the inclination to be my own financial planner. Best to leave it to the professionals. In this case, David Rae has helped neatly steer my finances, weathering crappy economic recession and hard times, and taking full advantage of current market trends and its opportunities. All while understanding my level of risk-taking, and my future plans. David makes it simple and manageable for me to invest in my future (yes, he will continually ask you for money...TO SAVE) -- and thank God for that, because I know I can't do it by myself! Most Americans are living to 90 years of age. Have you got your finances squared away to anticipate your needs until then? If not, you ought to give David a call. His goal is to shield you from mistakes made from irrational exuberance and emotion. That said, once I signed on, I found myself sleeping easier at night. Recently, David showed me he got me 23% return on investment, in 2 1/2 years! I told my tax preparer http://bit.ly/sQVEdu this news, and she gasped in surprise, saying, "Most people are lucky to get 18% on return! You got 23%?? That's amazing!" David Rae is a keeper! Thank you, David Rae!
