We made reservations on the internet & for $10 we climbed the 150 ft. clocktower & took in the views from 2 panoramic terraces. This experience that will took me through courtyards and staircases, from the splendid Sala Farnese to the beating heart of the tower: the mechanism that makes the clock work. The tower is part of Palazzo d'Accursio. The climb wass slightly challenging as I neared the tower's 2nd higher observation platform, but even the lower level offers excellent views over the squares below, including the Neptune Fountain. We actually wandered behind the huge clock. We also had access to the Municipal Art Collections and wandered among paintings, objets d'art, furniture, porcelain and textiles ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. read more
