The lobby and hallways look recently updated with rich warm wood and a Spence of elegance and luxury. We saw one of the corner suites which had been updated that was super big and nice. Our room, 521, was large with a view of the large inviting pool and rocky coastline. The bathroom was large with a great rain shower, double sinks and plenty of room while the bedroom with king bed was spacious too. The furnishings seemed a bit drab given the look and feel of the lobby and halls. The low bed was quite firm as were the pillows but the quiet AC did a nice job of keeping things cool so I slept quite well. Parking for or car was free in a small lot next to the hotel. The price wasn't too bad and included breakfast although the sprawling buffet seemed more focused on quantities than quality to me. A pleasant one night stay.

Staff was superior. Pool was large and fun. On site restaurant and bar had amazing staff, food, and views. The breakfast bar is on point. Note: the omelet station gets started roughly 30 minutes after the breakfast area opens, so don't be too hurried and miss it. The target audience is French and German but I found they catered to us nicely and made us feel at home in their home. The spa is open until 10 pm. The massage was wonderful. It's an easy walk into town. I suggest it. Walk along the path by the water to the right. You will find hidden bars and cafes along the way, you don't want to miss. Wear you bathing suit as you walk because some of the cafes by the water are establishments providing lounge chairs and sunbathing while being served for a small fee.

Here's why we really enjoyed our stay, and actually plan to return next year. + The proprietors Giovanni and Christina are charming, always willing to help, alert, and reliable. Ask them and they will share information on their favorite beaches, best restaurants, best touristic sites, etc. etc. + Their house is a beautiful old building that has been restored lovingly, and is full (but not too full) of antiques, art and favorite things. It is located on a charming square, across the street from a lovely church, in a very typical small Italian town in North-West Sardinia. + You only drive a few minutes to the local beaches. + The owners serve a fantastic cold breakfast on a beautiful roof terrace with a view of the town and of the ocean. Coffee specialties, local cake, home-made marmalades (e.g. unbelievably good lemon jam), delicious local honeys, local cheeses and sausage, and farmer's yoghurt: during a week's stay, this was always something to look forward to. + The rooms are large and clean. + Sorso is a typical small Italian town; if you want to experience more than a touristic lifestyle then this is the real thing. From our experience, Sorso's inhabitants may not be so practiced in dealing with foreigners but their initial reserve quickly changes into real warmth. For me as a German, the kindness we experienced was quite touching! The local wine, by the way, is pretty strong but delicious, and in town there are several places where you can get freshly-picked fruit and vegetables at very low prices. In particular, we found the tomatoes, figs and pears to be unusually delicious. And what's not so perfect? - Sorso is not a touristic town, so please do not expect flower pots on each corner and senior-citizen-friendly noise levels. People there work in the early morning, and are yet out on the street in corner bars until late at night. Only during the mid-day and after 2 AM does it get really quiet so if you are quite sensitive to noise, you might find a more appropriate place for your vacation. - The most beautiful beaches of the north-west coast of Sardinia are not close by: you need to drive an hour or more. The beaches near Sorso are conveniently located and clean but are on average so-so: more Adriatic than Caribbean.

The good things about this hotel - free parking, right on the beach, balcony facing the beach (my room was 302), walking distance to grocery, the pool area & good breakfast including eggs to order, fresh fruits & fresh juices. WiFi was just decent - enough to stream, browse & scan social media. Not strong enough for downloads/uploads. On the downside - it is a little further from the walled city (about 20 mins walk or rent a scooter/bike). The bathroom was shabby - water can seep through glass doors after shower. The service was hit or miss. There was a gentleman being trained at the front desk and he was a bit abrasive. His idea of being helpful was to hog the question away from his senior whom the question was addressed to & mansplaining to the woman who was clearly senior to him & more knowledgeable. Guess he needed to prove himself. He seemed tech averse on simple things like doing a Google search. Going to chalk it up to staff acquisition during the pandemic & hopefully things improve. All in all, an average three star hotel room experience where the amenities (balcony, pool, breakfast) & location made it extra.

We chose the morning half day trip. First we got to see several sights, such as cliffs, caves, towers etc. Then we had a couple of swimming/snorkeling stops. At the second snorkeling location Giovanni took us into some really cool caves. Giulia took lots of good pictures of us during the whole trip. She also made a little film. Both film and pictures was included in the price and were emailed to us the next day. I would totally recommend this trip. The swimming and snorkeling is of course optional. Giovanni and Giulia is really sweet people and I'm very pleased we chose that particular trip instead of all the big boats.

Hotel Punta Negra is a really beautiful hotel located in Fertilia, a quiet town about 10 minutes…read moreoutside of Alghero. The hotel has expansive grounds covered in native flora. The common areas are gorgeous including the dining room, the outdoor patio, and the pools. The views from the patio and pools are breathtaking. They have two pools including a saltwater infinity pool. They even have their own small private beach too. The beach isn't as impressive as the local beaches within a short drive but it's a nice option if you don't feel like driving someplace. Each room has a balcony, some of which overlook the ocean. Our room was super clean, included a mini fridge, and the bed was really comfy. Maids came in daily to do morning cleanings as well as turn down service. They have free parking and free breakfast. The breakfast buffet was great with an assortment of delicious pastries and breads plus eggs and cooked prosciutto for us Americans. The bar is open throughout the day and you can order a cocktail to enjoy on the patio where they'll give you some free snacks or you can take it in a plastic cup to enjoy poolside. A couple things I'd change about the hotel: - Provide free water! It'd be so lovely to see water offered for free in the mini fridge in the room, at the bar, or even in a water cooler at the front desk. The staff recommended not drinking from the tap water so it seemed crazy to have to pay for water everyday. I know this is probably customary for Italy but it would've been a really nice touch. - The one time we got dinner at the hotel (because it was downpouring outside) the service was extremely slow and disjointed. The food was mediocre and not worth the wait. - During breakfast, there is one communal coffee machine. It made pretty good coffee including Americanos, cappuccinos, etc. but since there was just one, there was always a line and it sometimes malfunctioned from overuse. - There is no kids area or kids pool so if you're trying to relax by the pool, you may have to deal with screaming children. Overall, I'd probably stay here again because it had great amenities, was clean, and the staff was always really nice. However, I'd love to see some of the minor details improved upon to further elevate the stay.

There is a spa, a fitness center, a private beach area, a nice pool with great ocean view seating! They have staff that attends to you at the pool with refreshing cocktails and yummy aperitivo. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night and it was a pescatarian menu but they had meats at breakfast. Breakfast was all you can eat; just mark what you want and how many on the menu and it starts coming to the table ! The beds were comfy and the rooms were clean. They have a large parking lot; not right up at the hotel but out of view yet only a few steps away. There wasn't anything I didn't like about this place.

Villa las Tronas is a small hotel with some long history that dates back to 1880 when the villa "castle" like was built. Italian royalty used to stay there. When the private villa turned in to the hotel - in 1959, among first clients were Samuel Beckett, Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. There is a swimming pool and most of guests prefer to stay in that area. Their beach is very authentic and I love it a lot. They put special stairs so you get in the water safe among the rocks and have a beautiful swim. But if it's stormy - then you're not lucky to get into the water. There are a couple of sophisticated suits which I recommend. Most of the rooms overlook the sea and if you have a balcony - it's really a view. The personnel all these years are mostly the same, they are like family. We always have a late evening flight and when they are not fully booked they do everything to comfort you and either keep your room for a late checkout or transfer you to another room if yours is already booked. Very nice and sympathetic people. Breakfast is very good: buffet offers all typical selection, except for the smoked salmon and Champagne. There are few dishes in the menu that are some extra, like different kinds of omelet etc. Great appetizing super fresh croissants and swell cheese selection. Lunch and dinner are served in their restaurant too and have to mention - that it's one of the best restaurant in Alghero, may be even the very best for the cuisine, the ambient, the view. And they are very flexible - that's what I appreciate a lot: if you ask to cook something that is not on the menu or to change something in the dish, like instead of seafood pasta make a risotto, they are willing to do that. Gym is in another small building as well as SPA. Though gym is pretty tiny, it has all basic things you might need. I would change few cardios though and add some new ones. They have SPA services by appointment and there is another indoor swimming pool and sauna there. They don't do turn down service. They used to, may be even a year ago, but this year they stopped, I don't know why. I like turn down service and I think that in 5 star hotels it's essential: it's always a pleasure when you have fresh towels and cozy bed ready for you to get in. Parking inside the property and its self-parking. A splendid place to visit and come back!

I have flown in and out of the Alfredo airport several times through Ryan Air. I randomly picked an…read moreairport on Ryan Air's destinations and that is how I originally discovered Sardegna! This airport is very small, but they don't mess around with checking people in and getting bags out. Not to mention Ryan Air is one of the cheapest airlines in Europe. You will also have no issue getting transportation to and from where you are staying. It is only a short ride to the main port town.
