I have to give this practice 5 stars for adhering to exceptional protocol during COVID-19. As always, there will be person/s who need reminding that the mask is supposed to cover the nose; and the nurses here are quick and strict about enforcing it. I felt 100% safe during my visit. They take your temperature (outside the elevator) before you enter their suite and your hands are sanitized and you're questioned about health symptoms. This place has an excellent medical team of dermatologists as well as full-service cosmetic services (botox, fillers, dermabrasion, etc). read more

Based on recommendations from a dermatologist who works in this clinic, I had a bump removed from my face and the nurse who did it went too deep and scarred me permanently. Also, the dermatologist recommended that I do several chemical peel sessions and the last session the aesthetician did caused permanent damage to my face with scarring, discolouration, roughened skin. When I went back to them to ask them to fix the damage, I was treated terribly and was informed that the dermatologist said he was to busy to meet with me and they only agreed to reimburse me for the last chemical peel session out of the 5 I paid for. They also refused to help me fix the damage. I had to go to another dermatologist to get help (who confirmed the damage to my face was consistent with the bump removal and chemical peel). Additionally, I had a skin condition which the dermatologist couldn't diagnose after over a year and I went to another dermatologist for a second opinion and the second dermatologist diagnosed it in the first visit. read more

My visit was essentially a waste of time. None of my concerns were addressed, I received no information regarding my skin conditions, and he forgot to prescribe the medication the told me I needed. In regards to the skin conditions, all I was told was, "it's nothing to worry about". Mind you, he did treat the sun spots on my forehead with the nitrogen spray, something of which I was unconcerned, and failed to inform me that I'd have some unattractive scabs for a few days after the procedure. Do not go to see Dr Greenspoon! I went by to have my moles looked at and told her there was this white dot in my finger. She said it was a wart and used liquid nitrogen, she held the torch there until I said something and I pulled it away. If I hadn't said anything she would have held the torch there for longer. So now I have a massive blister that is now turning purple and instead of getting better it's getting worse. This was a very minor procedure I can't imagine people seeing her for something bigger or on your face for that matter. I will be left with a huge scar on my finger now. Dr. Barankin was kind, and his prescription helped my acne. I also went in for a couple of facials; I did a regular facial with extractions and a silk peel. I had good results with both. The place is so overpriced, I realized that other places do the same thing for so much cheaper. I found all the same skin care products for so much cheaper too. I also found the esthetician's too 'fake', for lack of better words. They seem to only care about selling products rather than figuring out what's actually needed. I now go to a different place to do my facials and it's half the price and yet two times better. And I've never once been persuaded to buy a product. read more

They have a very rude manager (Michele Boyce) only I reschedule my appointment because I had exam more than 48 hrs and they call me to pay for $100 and when I emailed the clinic the manager told me that I rescheduled one appointment in 2009 and we are now 2021 SERIOUSLY!! Went to this clinic to get some botox done, both underarms and cosmetic (the former done by a nurse, the latter, by one of their doctors). The nurse was lovely, talked me through the process, was very patient and took her time. The doctor, on the other hand, spent maybe 7 minutes with me total - which included the assessment, the actual jabbing of the botox, and writing up the receipt. It was my first time and he didn't tell me how many units he was going to put into my face; this was later estimated by a nurse based on the cost of the procedure. It ended up being SUPER heavy, and I looked like a neanderthal for like three weeks until it started wearing off again. Idk if this was the treatment I got because I was only spending a couple hundred bucks (rather than thousands on something much more dramatic) or because it was a cosmetic procedure (rather than perhaps something more serious?)... but the experience left a lot to be desired. As an aside, I thought it was really funny when the dr greeted me with "Ms. X! So nice to see you again!!!" when in fact I had never met this man before, and even if I did, he would 100% not have remembered me. I saw Dr.Yanofsky for my acne and eczema and I had a terrible experience, he was very dismissive and rushed the appointment. If it were up to him, it would've been a 2 minute appointment - he didn't even sit down or really check how the current state of my eczema was. When I see a doctor, I want to know that I am in good hands and that they actually care about helping me, but with Dr. Yanofsky, I did not feel that way even remotely. He seemed even hesitant to give me a prescription. I will not be going back here and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone either. read more

I contacted this clinic 3 times in need of minor surgery. Twice via phone and once via their online form (from which i received no response). I received instructions from their representative on obtaining a referral, such that the surgery could be performed in a timely fashion. Fast forward 8 days (and 3 more phone calls) after sending the referral letter, they clinic tells me to 'contact my family doctor', no other context- simply that. My family doctor then informs me that the clinic has informed them, they are not taking any more patients. Seriously......WTF? One would think amongst the numerous communications made, someone at the clinic would have informed me of such. Seems like a pretty significant detail for someone trying to get an appointment. So end result... almost 2 weeks after my initial contact with the clinic to receive much needed (as noted by my doctor) albeit relatively minor surgery, I am back at square one. For no other reason other than an ABSOLUTE LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM, this clinic is receiving a '1 star' rating. read more

I found this place on google because it was one of the few places I could find that do TCA chemical peels. They also have a medical centre there with doctors on site, which was important to me. I'm glad I didn't let the yelp reviews deter me because I had a really good experience. I live in downtown Toronto, but I've gone to a few "med spas" in my area for consultations to remove my acne scars and I couldn't find one that I had confidence in. Many of these med spas recommend lasers treatments as a "one-size-fits-all" for most skin problems. The staff often don't seem very educated and most of the time there are no doctors on site. So I did some research on my own and decided I wanted a TCA peel. I called to make an appointment and I got one the very next day. They told me I was booked for a consultation and I had the option of going forward with the procedure if I wanted to. I felt no pressure to do it at all. The location is beautiful, definitely feels like a luxury to be there. The reception were average, definitely not rude. They gave me forms to fill out and I returned them when finished. I waited in the waiting room for a few minutes when my friendly aesthetician came to get me. I had already spoken to her on the phone a day earlier because I requested to speak to her as I was so nervous about getting a TCA peel. On the day of my appointment I was so scared I probably asked her about 15 questions about the procedure. She was very knowledgable and answered my questions thoroughly. She didn't sugarcoat anything or try to convince me it was a good idea. I was not pressured at all to go through with it and felt like if I had decided not to get it, my choice would have been respected. I did decide to go through with the peel. The aesthetician told me what she was going to do step-by-step and told me what the pain would feel like etc. It hurt a lot! My face "frosted", which means the peel penetrated my skin well. I received thorough after care instructions emphasizing the importance of protecting my skin to get good results and not get sun burned. The price was $150 plus tax which I find very reasonable. Currently I am still going through the peeling process. I'm not sure what my results will be but I am very happy with the service I received from this centre! read more

Had an appointment here a few days ago and will absolutely not be giving them any of my business WHATSOEVER. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICES!!! Dr. Frieman needs to reevaluate his career and consider working somewhere where he doesn't need to utilize common courtesy and respect for others. I went into the appointment looking for solutions to minimize keratosis on my face. He was extremely dismissive and honestly seemed as though I was wasting his precious time. He took a microscope to my face for honestly 0.25 seconds, He was vague, unhelpful and seemed completely uninterested. He gave me the option of having laser, kept referring me back to his nurses to answer my questions, rushed the entire conversation, didn't explain the procedure, the side effects, risks etc... any information I managed to get from him, I had to ask and probe further. Anytime I asked a question, he answered with one word and added "okay?" At the end as if to imply that that should be the last question. After my appointment, I went to the nurse and asked her to clarify my diagnosis because the doctor had been so brief and so unclear. She acted as though I had caused the biggest inconvenience to her day and stated that my appointment had just ended and that the doctors notes wouldn't have been uploaded yet. Any other person with common courtesy would have simply walked back and asked the doctor, given me my diagnosis and sent me on my way. Instead, she told me that the notes weren't uploaded and that I would have to wait. Here's a quick newsflash for you people... Your services are client based, meaning, you need to be polite and professional in order to draw and retain customers. Your piece of crap attitude isn't helping you, especially because word of mouth spreads fast, especially in the industry that I work in. Besides business, being a polite and courteous person is just a part of being a decent human being. Don't treat others like crap and then expect them to shovel hundreds of dollars into your company. I will absolutely never be returning here and encourage anyone who is looking for informative staff with patience and kindness to stay clear of this place. You'll regret taking a day off of work. I had severe acne about a year ago and after seeing doctor for medication the dr referred me to their laser specialist i go once a month now for laser on my face for my acne big difference in my skin after acne laser treatments and Medication (my acne was so bad i deff needed antibiotics) the only thing I'm disappointed about is that I've been paying 350$ every laser treatment that is no more than 5 min long and was never offered a student discount meanwhile I'm usually doing my homework on my laptop in the waiting room. It was only until i over heard a patient mention their student discount that i saved 50$ on my laser treatment after showing them my student id. I came to Toronto Dermatology Centre last year to get a mark looked at on my face. Turned out to be cancer, so I had it removed. There was a fill crew there and I didn't agree to be filmed so I feel like I was rushed out so the Dr could get to the next patient that was being filmed. This caused the Dr to almost miss the mark and not even send it to be tested. Thankfully I insisted. Now I have another mark on my face with similar characteristics. My family Dr sent over the referral for a different Dr as I didn't like the last one. The next available appointment wasn't for about 1 month (I get it its busy) they emailed me 1 week before my appointment saying its with the same Dr as last year... I have called 3 times ( I don't think they check voicemails) to get in touch and ask why it was with the same Dr as last time and not the Dr on the referral that was sent over. They couldn't give me a logical reason as to why. No I am getting put back in the queue to wait again for a call to see when my next appointment will be. Not even mad just disappointed.. I would not recommend this place to a friend, maybe an enemy lol just kidding I'm not that mean. read more

I am a little bit shocked by the negative reviews. I find this place to be amazing. Maybe it is because Im coming from a brutally overbooked Barrie dermatologist office - but this place is great imo. The nurses are super pleasant and helpful. Are they sometimes in a hurry? Of course it is a doctors office! Are they ever rude? Not to me in the slightest. When I go (once a month) I usually see Christine, Olga and Bella - they are all super. I walk in, tell the front desk I am here to see whoever, then within minutes I am taken back and looked after. I go for the psoriasis research study so maybe thats why my experience is different. If you are considering the study - this is a great place to choose. read more

I was referred to the Toronto Dermatology Centre by my family doctor. Dr. Norman Wasel is a very friendly and knowledgeable doctor. I have been visiting the clinic once a month for the past 5 months to receive injections from the nurses. One of my previous appointments I had to wait 2 hours because they were short a nurse that day. It is very unprofessional to make patients wait when they have an appointment, they should have called all their patients that day saying they are running behind on their appointments and if they would like to push back their appointment for the later that day or if they wanted to reschedule. I had an appointment again today and the receptionist Arlene told me I do not have an appointment. I entered in my appointment onto my phone, someone clearly at the clinic did not schedule me in and the error is on their end. This is the second time I wasted my time because of the error on the clinics end. They should try to be more organized, people's time is valuable. Then she told me that my health card expired 3 weeks ago and that they could not take me. She was extremely rude and had a lot of attitude while talking to me. I was very upset by the way I was treated. I will never be going back to that clinic! It's unfortunate that the clinic is getting this review because of one rude receptionist. If Arlene does not have a kind demeanour to deal with people she should not be working as a receptionist. read more

This place is a complete disaster! The staff at the front are very rude, uneducated and have a severe identity crisis! From similar looking annoyed expressions, to style, and most importantly disrespectful attitude! Unaccommodating and simply confused about their role! After being referred here by my family doctor, to specifically have a procedure done, I wasted tons of time not only driving here, PAYING FOR PARKING, but also having a very negative experience at the front desk before and after my 3 minute consultation! Which I didn't need! I already had that done. I came in for a procedure as mentioned above. Then when trying to see the doctor, which was the whole reason why I took the day off to get here. And ofcourse the doctor was not ' available ' although the waiting room was dead! I also witnessed them gossiping in Russian about other patients and even myself ! What they didn't know is I am fluent In Russian. And once I spoke it to them, they were shocked and embarrassed! As they should be! I would NEVER waste my time to come back here, and I would'nt give them a dime! I called my family doctor right away and filled the staff in on my unfortunate experience and they assured me they wouldn't refer Any more patients in that direction! Ever again! Excellent experience with Dr. Jennifer Upitis and everyone at the clinic. My teenage daughter was already taking Epirus for her acne but wasn't seeing the results until Dr. Upitis put her on a higher dose. Her acne cleared up 3 months later, just as the doctor told us to expect on our first visit. Our appointments were easy to schedule in a timely manner and we never had to wait longer than 10 or 15 mins before being seen on the day of our appt. The nurses on staff were available to answer any general questions we had regarding her treatment along the way. We also had any specific questions we needed answered by the Dr. relayed in a timely manner. Very helpful as there are things that come up along the way or that we forgot to ask during the visit. Terrific experience all around and would highly recommend! read more

For a standard cosmetic procedure, this place seems to be a very inefficient use of your time. First, I had to get a doctor referral to get an appointment. At my appointment I saw the doctor for LITERALLY 2 minutes to tell me what I was getting treated (which I already knew when I called in for an appointment). Then they sent me to the cosmetic portion of their practice which said they could book me in for a treatment in a few weeks at my expense. So basically I wasted an hour in their clinic to be no further ahead, plus had to pay for childcare and for parking at the clinic to make the appointment. I didn't get a satisfactory answer when I asked why they made me get a referral and to come in only to see a doctor for 2 mins particularly when referrals aren't required for the procedure and I had to pay out of pocket for it anyway (any other place it's just walk in) - seems like an OHIP money grab to me. I'm sure this place is great if you want Botox injections but if you have a legitimate skin condition do not go near this place. When I booked my appointment I made sure to tell the "doctor" what my condition was and she said no problem. When I spoke to her she didn't even know what my condition was, ( had no idea about what causes it and it is very common) tried to sell me 2400 dollars worth of chemical peels to cure it. There is no permanent treatment, it can't even be cured! Only controlled through laser and prescription ointments. Oh and bonus! I'd give it zero stars if i could I had a referral from my doctor for this clinic, and it was REJECTED BECAUSE I HAD SEEN ANOTHER DERMATOLOGIST IN THE PAST YEAR. When I called to ask for clarification, they told me to leave a message and the manager would get back to me. I never received that call. I called back several times before I got a hold of a receptionist who basically told me that the doctors have a right to see whomever they want and that they feel that if you've seen someone else, you should follow up with that person. When I told her that I had followed up with them several times to no avail, she repeated the policy, said "there's your clarification" and hung up. So basically, if I'm unhappy with my doctor I'm expected to live with my condition for a full year without seeing ANY other doctor just to be accepted here. I called on Oct 13, 2015 at 6:30 PM to make a consultation for cosmetic fillers. I found the secretaries to be be uninformed and rude. I called the main phone number which I guess is there general medical dermatology line and the secretary had no idea what I meant by "fillers". I specifically had to ask for the cosmetic clinic. When I was transferred over I asked for a consultation on a Saturday. The cosmetic clinic secretary rudely told me that the doctors do not work weekends and it is estheticians only. I tried to explain that the website did not specify that, as it only says open Saturdays 9-3 by appointment only. She interrupted me and repeated the same thing, talking to me like I was 10 years old. Anyway, I didn't make it past the secretaries to know that this clinic is not the place for me! read more

My son goes here for chemical peels for his acne. Everyone is so kind and wonderful. Ana or aesthetician was amazing but today we found that Ana was no longer with the clinic. She was amazing. Only complaint is that we purchased a pack of 5 peels and supposed to get a 6th free but doesn't look like we're getting 6 peels. A bit of confusion I think more than trying to scam. After waiting weeks for an appointment, I was extremely disappointed with the outcome! I have gone off birth control pills after 10 years and my face has become extremely inflamed and filled with acne in designated areas of my face. When the doctor came in, he did not even look at my skin with a magnifier or analyse the infected areas to ensure there were no infections. He simply spoke to me for one minute and prescribed an anti-inflammatory for three months! He then let me know that the front desk would help we with the rest and was out of the room as quickly as possible. When speaking to the front desk, I was instructed to go see the 'medical' aesthetician for 'treatment'. They then tried to sell me on $300 worth of products! I made an appointment to seek medical attention - Not see an aesthetician and buy products that were purchased at a beauty supply and sold with a 300% mark-up! When I told them I wasn't interested to purchase the products, the aesthetician was very evidently annoyed... Of course! She just lost a sale! This clinic is purely sales driven and needless to say, I will not be going back. read more
