I would love to continue learning here, however the prices are way higher than I was expecting them to be. I might pop in to some classes or an event sporadically. I have a love hate relationship with Arthur Murray as a whole. My husband and I have been dancing…read morewith the franchise for a few years (this is our third studio). I thought our original Arthur Murray was expensive as after the initial new student specials, the prices were significantly more than other studios. Of course by then we were committed as my husband loved our instructor and the other students. Each studio has been progressively more expensive. This studio is 25% more than the base price we paid across the country (and no, rents aren't that different). The sale price here is significantly more than the sale prices there (to be fair, at least this studio does sales- our second one did not). The staff here is very talented (though they do have a few newer instructors that are definitely still learning). The students are nice as well though the overall vibe is less friendly/open than our first studio where it honestly felt like a family. Here, the shared bond is dance and you won't learn much about the staff beyond that. This isn't a bad thing, just different. Over all, if you choose ballroom dancing as a hobby, this is definitely one of the best places to do it. Just... know its going to be a very expensive hobby.

How many studios have enough boys to do that?? This one! This is not a "competitive" studio. You compete against yourself to do your best. The Company (high schoolers) dancers are all different body types and even skill levels. They do it all together though. The older kids are serious about setting an example for the younger dancers. I started volunteering to Stage Manage (previous life for me) about 3 years ago, so I have a solid look at back stage behavior when other adults aren't looking. I have never heard a snide remark between any of them, only support and encouragement. I've written so much about the community and that probably isn't why someone is looking at these reviews! Instruction: the director is highly qualified and continues to take classes to grow. She understands the growing body and made it her focus to learn how to support highly mobile (flexible) bodies with muscle strengthening. Since my kids are hyper-mobile, this was critical to our decision. They are doing something right - I've yet to hear of a dancer getting hurt from dance. The performances are gorgeous. This is not a recital at the community center. This is full on lights, sound (sometimes live), tickets, and a story line. The youngest dancers are part of the compelling story, not a cute aside. Yes, they are cute, and the costumes scream, "Take a picture for graduation yearbook!" If you are interested or even curious, call the studio and ask to visit a class. We are looking for the next members of our community.

From the owner: Surrendered School of Dance is the official ballet school of Paradosi Ballet Company…read more As as a ballet studio, we are different from other dance studios in that we go against the mainstream norm of the dance world by utilizing family friendly music, promoting modesty, self-worth, and inclusivity in a non-competitive yet professional atmosphere. As a dance school, our primary focus is on ballet; however, we do teach additional dance styles from time-to-time as supplemental courses to help dancers become more well rounded in the art of dance. We strive to help students to become the best dancer that they can be while doing so in a nurturing and loving environment. While our ballet studio is non-competitive in nature, we challenge each student to reach their fullest potential as an artist while doing so in a healthy and safe manner. Classes offered in our 3 ballet schools include: Ballet, Pointe, and Contemporary for students from the age of 3 to Adult.

I called The Toy Box and the spoke with the owner. She invited me to the studio the following week to try out a class & ask all the questions I needed. When I arrived I was greeted by the owner who instructs all the classes. The other women in the class greeted me too, and they all were encouraging and welcoming. The prices for classes were affordable. I signed up for 4 classes a month (once a week). That was 2 years ago and I still look forward to going to my weekly class at the Toy Box. You can sign up for multiple classes a week. The studio does not have windows and is private. Students are on their own pole for the whole hour. Classes are limted to 7 students Due to small classes the instructor is able to provide one on one instruction. Classes focus on teaching the sport of pole dance with a focus on acrobatics on a verticle pole. Individual instruction is given based on a students level: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The instructor and other students are encouraging. The other women in the classes are fun supportive and at times silly. I had hardly no upper body strength and absolutely no formal dance or gynamstic ability when I walked into the studio my first day. The instructor started me with the basics, gave me tips on what I was doing in error and making moves more difficult for myself, and encouraged me. Through pole fitness I gained muscle tone, strenght, flexibility, confidence (it feels incredible when you are able to master a challenging move and do combos). I also gained friends and a sense of empowerment. The studio has offered special event workshops that are in addition to classes for students who are interested. These workshops are at the Toy Box and hosted by Pole Fitness Champions. The most recent being Veronica Solimano and Natasha Wang (have you youtubed these women, wow!). The classes here are great for anyone who wants to learn pole fitness, improve skills they may already have and be in a supportive fun enviornment.
