This Topshop has been around for a few years now (replacing it's dreadful poxy small predecessor), and I just can't even begin to describe how much I love it. What's great about this Topshop is it's size, whilst I love the flagship store on Oxford Street, it's so big it's often impossible to navigate, let alone finding something in particular, plus it's always packed. The Cardiff store is big, it goes back very far and covers three floors, but is nothing in comparison to its London counterpart. There is big selection of clothes, and the turnover is quite phenomenal, everytime I go in there I always see something new (which is very bad for my bank balance). If you're a fan of Kate Moss they always have her new ranges in straight away, the same also goes for the boutique and ranges from designers such as Christopher Kane. I often find that changing rooms can really let stores down, this Topshop however, has them aplenty, and not once have I had to queue to try clothes on (which makes a nice change). If I have one small complaint it is that the jewelry and accessories selection is minimum to say the least, however as the clothes are simply super, I don't really care.

I'm simple not cool enough for Topman. I don't get skinny jeans and cheque shirts so there's not much point. Even if I did want that then I wouldn't be too impressed by the prices. Luckily even my lovely hates this place. Everytime she's in there she looks like she either wants to cry or kill me. Apparently this is an instant way to make you feel fat and unfashionable (she's hot and size 10 so there's no reason she should feel that). My favorite bit is having to walk through the women's lingerie section on the way out!

Kids only have to shuffle across the path to get from H&M to this store so when I come in here I do actually feel about 60 years old. The layout is pants, it doesn't feel comfortable. They have huge window displays which are fantastic but the extra height inside isn't utilised. The only positive thing is that you can get into Topman without being too conspicuous - the mens tshirts are always more interesting than the girls and their size extra small is a girls size 10 - you may need to customise the neckline though. If you want the clothes but not the crowd, then head to Debenhams up the street where Top Shop have a reasonably-sized space on the second floor.

Being an absolute enemy of their mega-store on Oxford Street, this store suits me down to a T. I'm always amazed by what they can fit into the teeny tiny store: a personal shopper, Office, a maternity section, accessories, and men's and women's fashions. They also stock several lines including boutique and Kate Moss which makes the store feel unique, interesting and bang on trend. The only thing that lets them down is their slow service as they often have queues leading well into the shops. Their sales aren't too exciting, but the clothes are affordable enough that there's no need to wait!

It is probably the last really cool clothing shop left on Park Street. The style and clientele Cooshti caters for is definitely more urban that many high streets shops in Bristol. You'll find baggy jeans and some over sized t-shirts and shirts - quite unlike most shops nowadays. They also sell some seriously cool trainers which again, you'll struggle to find elsewhere in Bristol. I rarely buy stuff from Cooshti, but thats because its not really my style and unfortunately park Street doesn't have the appeal it used to for fashion/. But when I'm in the area I'll always go in and check out what they've got. It will be a sad day if Cooshti ever dropped off Park Street.

It took at least three visits before discovering that there was a women's department in the back of the shop! There's many labels on display here; Nike, Levis and Diesel to name but a few, all accompanied by a designer tag. The men and women who work here all look fantastically cool and wear their stock to the best of their ability. There's a great mix of footwear, dresses, t-shirts and hoodies with the odd one-off. Sizes are fairly small (nothing above a 14) which is disappointing, and I would say it's better for boys than it is for girls. Bit too label loving for my blood, but worth a look if street wear is your bag.

Whatever I think I have found the price of clothes is creeping up now and you won't find many of the Primark value clothes here. What I like about this shop is that its out of town and has lots of parking. Thats useful when buying homeware items that you wouldn't want to be carrying. Its also very, very big and has quite an impressive range of clothes. It does kidswear, menswear, plus sizes, workwear, a fashion section, sportswear, lots and lots of shoes, underwear, everything really. As I say fashion is a bit hit and miss but its worth a look.

The staff are friendly enough and Matalan is based on Newport road in the city of Cardiff. The number 44 and 45 buses are the best buses to get from the town centre in Cardiff. If you do like Guess clothing (lots of denim) then you will probably be pleased with this store. There is a very wide selection of clothing, and it is certainly one of the bigger stores in St Davids 2. However I personally think that the clothes are far too expensive for what they are, and as this store is always empty when I pass it I believe most people in Cardiff probably feel the same way.

Once inside the area seems quite small, especially downstairs has half of it is devoted to kids clothes. OK, it is the market for it in Cribbs, you will trip over the little blighters at any time of the week here (don't they go to school?) but young women have come here with money and intent, so they are really missing a trick. I think perhaps, as with their store in the new Cabots Circus in town, they just don't have the layout right for a good old-fashioned browse. Instead I seem to wheel in here and wheel out again without penetrating the shop. Ah well. Find this on both floors about half way between Boots and M&S.

It doesn't have much in the way of designer collections that you can get in the new store but thats ok with me. On the other end, you've got Peacocks and Primark, proudly waving the banner of the cheap and cheerful end of the retail spectrum. In the middle of this scale sits the mid-range shops, for those who like their clothes affordable, but built to last more than a month. Here lies River Island, Zara and, perhaps the best of these, H&M. H&M always seems to cater to the fashion conscious who manage to maintain their own style; the ones who haven't been subjected to the Topshop mind control ray and become worker drones to the neon green fashionista aesthetic. They offer a range of menswear that adheres to current fashion trends without becoming too ensconced in them; buy something in H&M and it'll look good throughout the year, as opposed to the three weeks when that particular fashion is in. This store is made with choice in mind, filling two massive floors of the Capitol shopping centre with their massive stock selection.
