Hi guys! I've decided to be a bit of a #beautyblogger. I've been having such a hard time finding a…read moregood nail salon and artist to do my Biogel manicure. I was looking for reviews online on google and here, and there is hardly anything available. So, I've decided to share my experiences here. Hopefully, they will be useful for someone. On Tuesday, I tried @ananekebeautysalon. I went there to get my Biogel manicure refill. They are in Yonge and Eglinton area. This place was recommended to me, and it had such good reviews on Yelp, and BlogTo. Plus, with a personal recommendation, I thought it was going to be my go-to nail salon. Maybe it's just my luck but this is not going to happen. I do not remember the name of my nail artist. Here is a list of things I didn't like. 1) She took forever to do my refill, literally over 1.5 hours. I don't do anything complicated on my hands. Usually, it's just a French manicure which I was getting this time. She kept messing up the white lines on top of the nails and redoing them. And then again. And again. And again. ‍ While I did appreciate the effort to get it right, this is the first time somebody had to redo several times half of my nails. By the end of it, I wasn't sure that the lady knew what she was doing. 2) The lady didn't file the edges of my nails properly. I didn't notice it in the salon, but I noticed it later that day when I was already on my way home. 3) She was doing such a bad job filing my nails and cut so much skin next to the nail bed on one of my fingers that it hurt for a few days. 4) On Friday, four days later, the white gel polish started chipping on several of my nails. This is ridiculous. This is biogel. It last forever and can survive alien invasion, nuclear war, and zombie apocalypse. This is the reason why I do it: biogel is the only thing that doesn't chip on my hands for three weeks. I don't know how this lady did it that it started chipping so early. Not a happy customer here. Sadly, after this experience I can not recommend this place to anybody. Please avoid it. ‍

I really wanted this to be a good experience. I called to get my birthday nails done and asked…read morespecifically if they had time for designs and extensions but the extensions had to be clear. They don't have nail stickers or add ons or don't do many designs and most importantly they don't have the clear gel I requested .They do only simple nails and offered me chrome but just a simple layer. In no point intime were the designs led to be simple when I booked. I showed about 6 different designs and none were possible. I asked ahead if they had what I needed because I am not allowed to do my nails often due to the delicacy of mine (they're super thin and should refrain from getting them done often) and the one time I go a year I was given in the end a basic gel no design no paint nothing for 71$ I was given a 10 % discount and a sheet mask. I really don't want to be upset but the whole ordeal especially since the staff was so nice but it was a giant waste of time and money. I now have to go to another salon to get them painted and maybe rip off two to get the clear tips. I'm just so disappointed and upset I don't mind spending money as long as the end result is what I asked and if your capabilities aren't there let us know I refuse to spend over 100 for a paint job over long nails I'll just get stick ons for that.

I heard this place through a fellow Yelper and they told me nice things about this place…read more I called in advanced to book an appointment and managed to get one at 1pm on Friday for a couples massage. So prior to getting there, I literally received 8 text messages to remind me of my appointment. These texts started at 9am. Okay... I get reminders, but 8 times? Not to mention they also called me an hour before to confirm. I was even sitting in the massage room and getting reminder texts. Anyways, the 'spa' is right on Yonge Street and you do have to walk up a flight of stairs to get inside. Upon entering, the receptionist gives you slippers and they walk you to the couples room. The first impressions are that the decor isn't extravagant or anything, people could argue it's due for a renovation. Once the massage started, the RMT asked me what areas do I want to be worked on. She also asked me on the pressure I would like. When she started, she used very deep pressure. Personally I enjoy this kind of deep tissue massage, though I know others may find it uncomfortable or painful. She did a full body massage and would even reach places like my lower back that I didn't know was so sore. I came out of the massage feeling the most relaxed I've been. My partner has also been saying the same thing - that massage was pretty legit! The prices are $100 per hour so it's a lot more reasonable than other places. I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for massage.
