I went a few days ago to schedule an appointment for the next day, and I got put in for an hour later instead. That was fine, but when I actually got to the appointment, it was rushed, and I ended up with a very uneven, choppy haircut. Like, I asked for layers to make it easier to grow out and I ended up with blunt layers with no blending, and a lot of them weren't even level. Definitely the worst professional cut I've ever gotten; I think I would have been better off asking a friend to cut my hair.
That being said, it was very fast - maybe twenty minutes or so - and cheap, and the hairdresser had been harassed a by a walk-in customer at the start of my appointment who was not only very confrontational about not being able to get a haircut immediately without an appointment but also was wearing a knight's templar cross, so I'm willing to excuse a bit of a rush job under those circumstances.
I went in early March 2020, too, and that time I got a good, fast haircut for the same price. I think the person who cuts your hair matters a good bit; the lady who cut my hair last year blended layers and everything well, and had good advice for haircuts growing out short hair (the cut kept a decent shape for a year and a half!) but the man who cut it the other day definitely didn't know how to blend layers, although he seemed to do a good job on the men who got haircuts before me.
TLDR; fast haircuts, good price, and all my split ends are gone, but I'm definitely borrowing hair shears from a friend to do some layer-blending triage this weekend. read more
