Following the tornado of May 6, 2015, and subsequent extreme hail damage 2 days later, I was in need of a new roof (among many other items). I contacted David Fries Roofing, and was put in touch with Michael. My roof wasn't an emergency; there were many people in Norman with leaks or worse that were in far greater need than I was of a new roof. So, I elected to wait a few weeks to have my roof done. When it was time, Michael emailed me (I didn't have to bother him or remind me) to set up the work. The guys were out there in 2 days, and they didn't come at the crack of dawn, which I greatly appreciated. They were there for 2 days, and were very thorough cleaning up after they left. Additionally, when the lawn was mowed, they asked that I contact them so they could come and look for additional nails they may have missed during the clean up. The roof looks fantastic. Finally, they came within the quoted price. David Fries has been in business in Norman for many years now, and although this is only my first experience with him and his employees, I can understand why. Hopefully you're never in need of roof repairs or an entirely new roof, but if you are, I can't imagine a better experience than what I had with David Fries Roofing. Very highly recommended.

In 2019, Red Plains replaced a section of pipe on the main drain leading away from my home toward…read morethe backyard fence. Over the course of several years, I had issues with the drain clogging periodically but couldn't ever figure out why. This year, my significant other and I had a different company scope the drain with a camera in the hopes of getting to the root cause of our repeated clogs. We discovered that the work Red Plains did in 2019 involved REDUCING the diameter of the drain by one inch. Plumbing 101: Drains are only supposed to get bigger as they progress away from a building to the sewer main. We calmly contacted Red Plains to see what, if anything, they could do. They said the worker who did the original work was no longer with the company and also that they couldn't guarantee work done so long ago. Ultimately, they offered no kind of recourse for us and did nothing to fix the problem they created. We had to hire a different company to repipe the drain from the reduced section all the way back to the house, about $6,500. None of this would've happened if Red Plains would've done the job right in the first place OR remediated their original "mistake", which is actually more like plumbing malpractice. Do not trust this company.

Some guys from Red Plains Plumbing came out to clear a slow washer drain but they just managed to…read moreget their snake stuck in my washer standpipe. Instead of apologizing and figuring out how to fix it, they claimed that this happened because of my drain and they would have to go straight to digging up the sewer line for $7,000 to $10,000! I told them I would not be doing that and asked for other options so they said a supervisor would call me back and left, abandoning their snake in my drain which was now completely clogged and backed up into my washer and kitchen sink... Fast forward through a couple of days of frantic calls to Red Plains which they didn't even bother returning and I called another plumber for emergency service. They were NOT complimentary and let me know the snake should not have been put through the washer standpipe and its four 90 degree turns, should never have been forced in until it knotted up, and after they removed it that Red Plains had used the wrong kind of head on the snake which was broken off inside the drain! What was just a slow drain was now a serious issue and I had spent over $700 but was much worse off than I started! I want to support small businesses like Red Plains because they're supposed to care more about their customers. Unfortunately with Red Plains, they weren't able to provide the resources, professionalism, and knowledge that a larger company would. Their office manager called and tried to help figure out a way forward but must have been overruled because a return visit to fix the problem lasted less than 15 minutes and Red Plains sent me an email saying there was nothing they could do. When I tried to find out what happened (again leaving many messages with no return calls) they just told me I should go with another plumber! Following their advice, I called a larger, more reputable company and what a difference it made! In less than the time it took Red Plains to get their snake stuck and block up my drain, the experienced plumbers found exactly where the head of the snake was lodged in the Y with a nearby floor drain, sent a camera down the floor drain to look at what it would take to remove the stoppage, and cleared the stoppage through a nearby cleanout that the Red Plains plumbers had just ignored! Instead of defaulting to the most destructive (and expensive) option, the new plumber had the tools and experience to correctly diagnose the problem and figure out a way to fix it where Red Plains couldn't. To cap it all off, Red Plains flatly refused to refund the charges for their "drain cleaning" which started this mess (be careful with all the fine print they put in their invoices which make you wave their liability for damages they do) so this was a costly lesson for me. In the end, what it comes down to is that you want to work with a company who will do what they say they will and help you even after they make a mistake. Based on what happened to me, I want to warn everyone that company is not Red Plains Plumbing. If you're considering hiring them then I hope the same thing doesn't happen to you too!

I was initially told it would be $350 to remove the toilet and fix the leak. Once the toilet was removed I was told it needed a new flange which was an additional $420. When I asked about the price I was told the initial price of $350 only covered the wax ring and closet bolt and did not cover the flange. Since a flange can be picked up at Home Depot for $12 and the toilet was already removed, incurring an additional full labor charge was unfair at best. In the end I was billed $350 to replace the wax ring and another $350 to replace the flange. As a veteran, I try to support my locally owned veteran businesses. This is one that I will not be using in the future and will definitely not recommend to anyone.

I…read moregot a text saying technician is on the way, got there 5 minutes later and he was already on the roof. He came down and say $550, which is way above average cost for this service. I asked what he thought the problem was and he suggested scoping the lines to see, for an additional charge of $250. I had an appointment shortly, so I declined. Afterward, I hired someone else to scope the lines and he said no way this line was cleared recently, call them to come back to do it correctly. I called and told them this and they sent someone else out, no mention of a charge. This guy spent more than a few minutes clearing the lines, and said he went all the way to the city line, I asked him to confirm this several times because this is the correct way to clear lines. Then he wanted me to pay again, I said no the other guy didn't do it correctly. He countered with it says on your invoice, no warranty, which is not what I was told at the time. The tenant who was present agreed, nothing was said about that. As we discussed it, the truth come out, that the first technician had already charged me for a scope which he did not preform. The $550 charge was for scoping and clearing the line, but he had not done a scope and tried to charge me for that again. Even though Mr rooter's technician admitted the last guy had lied to me and over charged me, he still insisted on charging me again, though they had not preformed the service I paid for. Then the scoper came back out, only a few days later and said the line is still clogged. I called Mr Rooter and now he had a different story. He didn't go all the way to the city line, because he thinks it's collapsed. Which is what he wrote on the invoice, with no warranty. Saying one thing to the client and writing something different on the invoice, is FRAUD. I wondered both times why I was not shown the invoice on their tablet, because they lied on the invoices. Each time the technician signed the invoice with a line, making it look like the client had seen the invoice. Likely they did this in case they are sued. After two similar experiences , it seems fair to say this is their common practice. And by the way the man I hired to scope the lines, said the opposite of Mr Rooter , he said the lines are fine and none of the problems Mr rooter claimed made it acceptable to say, no warranty, were not present. Hire someone else!
