Sadly, tonight I was highly disappointed in the quality. It's Good Friday and everybody was out and about and they were swamped. When I approached to order they stated it would be 30 minute wait. I didn't mind it because I knew my wait would be worthwhile. Not tonight. After getting home I took out my burger to find the onions burnt to a complete crisp on the patty. The edges were so hard they crumbled. Hopefully, my next visit will be a lot better. Dream burger will still be a fave, but I'll update this review on my next visit.

The staff were friendly and helpful. You order at their kiosk, but then can sit inside or outside (including covered and non-covered areas). You can also get a cold beer or coffee from Living Waters Brewing, making for a great combo location. Overall a great experience. They don't do the usual condiments, so you won't find ketchup here, for example. Their Lucky Sauce is some sort of mayo and mustard combination without any sweetness. Some time back, my colleagues kept disappearing during lunch rush, then returning with containers of hot dogs and fries. I thought they were nuts for traversing to Home Depot to visit the food trailer parked out front. Sure, I'd noticed it before, but had not paid it any mind. Then I sampled a fry.... "Damn! That's pretty good!" As I exited the orange box months later and starving, I decided to pause and gaze at their menu. Being quite hesitant to eat a hot dog...ever...I was pleased to discover they offered burgers too. So I decided to give it a go. I was genuinely surprised at how good their cheeseburger is...and the fries were as good as I had remembered in my previous sample. Thinking perhaps it was only because I was famished that day, I went back to try it again. Once more, not disappointed. Over the last year, I've become quite a fan. I DO find myself rather disappointed on the rare days this trailer isn't there! It's painted in "Home Depot orange", making it easy to miss from the road. It parks close to the contractor's area, and is definitely worth a visit when you're wanting that quick burger fix. Forewarning...this shack has become quite popular, and they cook to order. So give yourself about 10 extra minutes to wait for your food when they're busy. But for $7-ish, and the convenience factor...it's totally worth it.

I am of course talking about arriving in a new city and embarking on a quest to find the best burger. In Nashville burger lover circles, Grillshack is often noted as one of the establishments. It's been here in East Nashville since the year 2013. Yes, same year when Breaking Bad came out and when Miley Cyrus twerked on the award stage. The spot is ran by a husband and wife duo Steve and Susan Richter, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients like locally baked buns from Charpier's Bakery and ingredients from Bear Creek Farm. The burger is executed in a highly classic way, with only the cheese, the meat and the bun combined, with all else on the side. The result is a fairly small, enjoyable burger, but with a very heavy bread to meat proportion (that is a matter of preference). The meat is a bit in the drier side and not particularly rich in flavor, but the burger is well composed and does not fall apart. There are a few tables outside to sit under a covered area and enjoy an American classic. In other words, Grillshack is a staple neighborhood local joint for those in the know and those who have a particular like towards this style: bread heavy, minimalistic and dry crispy texture to the meat. Not necessarily all bad things, but a matter of preference.
