She's conveniently located on Branch Avenue less than 10 minutes from the metro where I park to go into DC everyday. I made the appointment and confirmed online. I arrived on time and she offered to let me sit in the kitchen to finish the food I'd brought. She did have a head in her chair at the time, but I wasn't over surprised. It was a cold, rainy Thursday evening. She got me in quickly and shampooed and conditioned me herself to sit under the dryer (of course) and then she quickly wrapped one client before me and got me in the chair. All-in-all I was out in under 2-1/2 hours and I consider that a complete win. My hair was LAID and I absolutely loved my curls. Whitney does an excellent job with natural hair. I don't need a whole silk press because my hair, while curly, is fine (3c/4a) but she still did a good job of determining the heat setting from my iron (I always bring my own now) and was willing to use my heat protectant, which I appreciated. 10/10

Upon entering you will find a modern salon with a little bit of an Asian flair in decor. Very clean and calming. The waiting area is clean and neat and features a coffee machine and a refrigerator with a selection of refreshing drinks. Honestly I've never waited long because appointments run on time. That search led me to Marcia's Hair Salon, and I've been a loyal, grateful customer ever since. This salon has been nothing short of a gold mine. From the moment you walk in, the energy is different--welcoming, warm, and immaculate. The décor is stunning, and they even have a beautifully curated section just for children. You can feel that every detail was chosen with love. The owner, Marcia, is a beautiful soul who makes you feel seen and valued. She always greets me with a warm hug and a smile, like family--and that speaks volumes. She clearly takes pride in her business and treats her clients like royalty. Now let me talk about Linda, my stylist--and truly, a hair artist. I wear braids, and I can either show Linda a picture or just explain a concept, and she brings it to life--sometimes even better than I imagined. Her gift goes beyond technique. She's intuitive, visionary, and deeply skilled. Other stylists in the salon often come to her for guidance, which tells you just how respected she is. Linda is gentle, kind, and absolutely phenomenal. She's not only elevated my hair's health and strength, but she's also touched my heart in ways that go beyond the chair. In a moment of real personal hardship, she extended kindness and generosity that I'll never forget. That tells you everything about her character. I never leave dissatisfied. My hair is healthier than it's ever been. The experience, the energy, the service--all top-tier. I won't go anywhere else, and honestly, I don't need to. This is home. If you're looking for a place where you're treated like more than a number... Where your hair is handled with care, creativity, and true expertise... Where the people are as beautiful as the styles they create... Marcia's Hair Salon is the place. 10/10. Deserving of all the glows, all the praise, and all the flowers.

I hate to write these types of reviews. Doesn't mean I won't write them, I just hate to do it…read more This review is on Robin, NOT the salon itself. I scheduled a 9am appt for today with Robin after being referred by a friend. I had been really excited to get my hair braided and I trusted my friend's recommendation. I was sent a link to book with Robin directly and I quickly confirmed the booking. This morning I made my way to the salon, admittedly having a bit of trouble locating the salon. It's in a shopping center behind the McDonald's for anyone who may need that info.... as a first time client, I sure did. Anyway, I arrived at 9:05. Grabbed my keys, my phone, my mask, and hurried inside. There was a stylist in the salon working on a client who kindly greeted me. I informed her I had an appointment with Robin at 9, and she escorted me to a seat and assured me Robin would be right back. Well, that turned into a 10 minute wait, and I decided to ask the other stylist if she knew where Robin was. She didn't, but told me Robin may have gone to grab a bite to eat which is totally understandable. I waited a few more minutes before checking my email to see that Robin sent a cancellation email of my appointment at 9:02. I told the other stylist this, and she gave me Robin's phone number (which is NOT on her website). I called Robin, left a voicemail apologizing for my short delay and assured her I'd be patiently waiting. After a few more minutes I called my friend who referred me to ask if this was normal of Robin. I told her I was a few minutes late due to not finding the location, the GPS takes you past the storefront! Not great... She told me it wasn't, and tried to contact Robin thinking it may have been an emergency. I waited almost an hour, before contacting another one of my friend's who actually ended up knowing Robin to ask her if she had a different phone number. She didn't, and she decided to contact Robin herself. No answer. I thanked the stylist who was working for her help, but told her I would be leaving. It's almost 11am, and after a phone call and email to Robin I haven't heard anything back, nor am I interested in hearing back. Robin did, however, replied to my friend to say that she had waited 10 minutes, then cancelled my appointment and left. Some issues here: I received the cancellation email at 9:02 am... There's no contact number at all... Robin's website and booking rules state that she has a 15 minute grace period. So, her leaving at "9:10", is still 5 minutes earlier than her posted rules and she wasn't there. I don't like for my time to be wasted, and I won't ever attempt to book with Robin again. I booked with another salon down the street, and the owner assured me they would be there, and gave me an even better price. I look forward to this appointment.

We are the largest consumers of hair products, and as someone who has been natural since 2014, I can tell you: finding a stylist is no easy task. Meeting a new stylist for the first time can be an amazing experience... or a total nightmare. Yesterday, I had the amazing kind. From the moment I stepped into her beautifully decorated salon, I was treated with respect and dignity. She listened to my concerns (my edges were thinning and my hair was dry), and we scheduled exactly what I needed. When she came outside to greet me, I instantly felt my anxiety melt away. And yes--they say how a stylist wears her own hair is a sign of the service you'll get. Well, hers was flawless. She's professional, knowledgeable, and knows exactly what she's doing. She gave me hair care tips, a gorgeous cut and color, and an energy that's contagious. Let's just say--when I left, I wanted to do a backflip (but I value my hair and my back too much to try it). My TWA is together. I now have a stylist I can trust, and that means everything. If you want someone who listens, cares, and will make you feel like royalty, go see her. You'll walk in like a princess and leave out like a queen. I promise you--your hair, your confidence, and your spirit will thank you. #TWA #Platinum #NewStylistWhoSlays
