Albeit-- in a sketch area, Caravelle was an amazing find within walking distance of my hotel near…read morethe Gothic Quarter. Caravelle is quaint and modern, and the service is definitely on the more lax side. Note: smaller parties may be seated at the communal table, and this place stays busy! Be prepared for a bit of a wait. I started with a café con leche, and although I'm not usually a sweets-for-breakfast kinda person, the croffle looked too enticing online to pass up. Being a huge egg aficionado, I also ordered a side of eggs à la carte. My coffee arrived quickly, but after waiting 30 minutes, I noticed that guests who had arrived after me were already enjoying their meals... When I checked in with the waiter, it turned out my order hadn't gone through at all. I had to reorder, and while waiting, I asked for another café con leche since I was long overdue for a refill. Unfortunately, that second coffee never came--but on the bright side, my meal eventually did. The croffle was freaking divine. Crispy/flakey on the outside, and soft inside. The cream was sweet, but not overpowering, and the tart of the berries balanced out the meal. As I was getting ready to check out, the waiter asked if I had ever received my second café con leche. Embarrassed for them, I admitted that I hadn't... Realizing they'd made ANOTHER mistake, he apologized profusely and quickly asked the barista to make me one to go. To compensate for my time and patience, he generously comped my entire meal, leaving me to pay only for the initial coffee (2.50 euros). Despite the service hiccups, the food was incredible--truly one of my favorite breakfasts in Spain.

I didn't love that they put some kind of spice on the eggs (paprika maybe) - just too aggressive a flavor than I want in the am with my simple breakfast. Also the sodas here are weird, skip em - no name brand Coke Zero here.

Bernie's is one of the better options located near the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona. But it really is only one of the better ones because a lot of other "American" establishments are bad. You really make due with what you have. Their milkshakes are good. Nice and creamy but not too heavy. I had the chocolate milkshake and was a fan. My GF had their strawberry cheesecake milkshake and it was good, but tasted more like just strawberry than strawberry cheesecake. T-bone steak tasted similar to a decent american diner and it hit the spot. Their ribs are absolutely horrible though. They were overcooked, dry, bland, and slathered in a bad BBQ sauce. Do come if you miss home, but don't come expecting an amazing meal.

We couldn't eat it. - The fries were as bland as fries can be. No seasoning, and like rubber. - The patatas bravas were literally just plain steak fries. Also no seasoning but most importantly no bravas sauce or aioli. - The banana milkshake was mostly milk. Vanilla wasn't bad. - Banana split was pretty good, but it's hard to mess up scoops of ice cream and toppings. The woman who took my order wasn't rude by any means, but she was cold and almost seemed bothered to be dealing with an American even though I spoke mostly in Spanish. If you're really desperate for American food in Barcelona, I guess you can find worse, but if you have time, I'd go elsewhere. For what it's worth, the atmosphere was cool. Good music and aesthetic. Place was clean.

In fact, if you watch Rick Steve's clips on this Mercat, he spends time at El Quim and that's one of the reasons I decided to select the sautéed baby squid with sunnyside eggs - that's just incredible. Rick's advice is golden for me, he's on target like 99.9% of the time. Of course, the gambas and the oxtail with potatoes are also very popular so we ordered those as well. The oxtail meat was so tender and the sauce was perfect for sopping up with the complimentary bread. Make sure to have some white wine and sangria - it'll highly complement your meal. The service was friendly but brisk, there's often a long line for seats but we got seated immediately. Not too much of a language barrier and one of the employees spoke Filipino so we were good. This place is Muy bien or masarap!!

The food stall is popular, so we had to hover around and wait for people to finish to snag a seat. The waiters offer menus in both English and Spanish. Back in 2019, I got their egg plate with shrimp, and it was tasty but not a ton of shrimp. This time we got the oxtail risotto and this was amazing. It was creamy, tasty, and pretty filling. Really thin shreds of oxtail but the mushroom flavor was everything. We also got the meatballs but honestly I regretted it after seeing the person next to me order the gambas. The meatballs were fresh, broke apart easily, but didn't have a ton of flavor. As in writing this, I'm still regretting not ordering those gambas lol Pricing wise, it's on the pricier side but the attention to detail and quality more than justify the cost. If you are looking for a budget friendly meal, this probably isn't it but if you don't mind spending a little bit more, I think it's worth a try. El Quim been featured in some food shows on Netflix and was a spot my dad also recommended, and it definitely lived up to the expectations. My only recommendation would be is to order more seafood, especially that gambas!

Fun little American beer bar style place in Barcelona…read more I've been here twice, and enjoyed both times! The beer selection is vast and great, I've enjoyed their wheat beer, as well as lagers. The wings are good too, my favs were garlic Parmesan, buffalo & buffalo mild. I love that they offer free water lol This is a great place for groups of about 4-8 anything more and you may not be able to fit on the same table. It's a fun pregame place, and I recommend it.

This is definitely a great spot for anyone into American beer hall vibes while in Barcelona - plenty of seating and TV's throughout to watch games or other things. You order up at the counter, and we just got a pitcher of beer when we went later at night, as the food service had ended. I do kind of wish we could've had the chance to still get some food, as other tables that had some from earlier looked really tasty. Nevertheless, the vibes were great and the beers hit the spot here. What more can I say?! It was bright, airy, and comfortable inside - perfect for hanging out! I think this is a great option - especially for American tourists, but also for just anyone that wants to have a spot that's chill and fun to hang out at. I definitely recommend!
