The museum does not focus on the shootout, so if you are looking for a ton of stuff from that you might be disappointed, though there is a small exhibit that describes the events of the day. He checked to see if I had the paperwork they needed, and then gave us the green light to move forward. Vivian called us to her desk. We told her we needed a title transfer and we handed over our driver's license, death certificate, court appointment personal rep papers, and title to the vehicle. She had to consult on this case. She came back and guided us through the process. We hit another spot were she needed another consult. She came back with the solution and we moved forward. We were able to transfer the vehicle into my parent's name. We spent approximately 30 minutes to get this done. Business picked up, so I was glad we got there when we did. I was very pleased with the efficiency and kindness of this office.

Today, Fort Huachuca is an important military intelligence and communications center, and the expansive installation helps manage and protect important biological diversity on and adjacent to the Huachuca Mountains. Located within Fort Huachuca, some call Garden Canyon the single most beautiful canyon in the Huachuca Mountains. This high desert landscape offers creeks, ponds, forests, waterfalls, and numerous side canyons. We go mainly for the birds, which can include Cassin's and Botteri's sparrows (best located while they are singing during July and August), Montezuma Quail, Gould's Turkey, Acorn Woodpecker, Mexican Jay, Elegant Trogon, Sulphur-bellied and Buff-breasted Flycatchers, Painted Redstart, Red-faced Warbler, Grace's Warbler, Mexican Spotted Owl, Hammond's Flycatcher, Hutton's Vireo, Bridled Titmouse, Bewick's Wren, Canyon Towhee, Song Sparrow, Black Phoebe, Pacific Wren (Southern), Black-throated Grey Warbler, and Chipping Sparrow. Common reptiles include the Yarrow's and Clark's spiny lizards, desert grassland whiptail, Sonoran spotted whiptail, Sonoran whipsnake, Sonoran mountain kingsnake, rock rattlesnake, and black-tailed rattlesnake. Mammals seen may include white-tailed deer, pronghorn, javelina, coatimundi, and black bear. At the top of Garden Canyon, a short walk and a climb up q boardwalk leads to a good view of prehistoric rock paintings. The road to Garden Canyon is closed occasionally because of military maneuvers. Brown Canyon Ranch is a very popular local hang-out all times of day. Retirees walk here early in…read morethe mornings, then come the mountain bikers, and then the hikers, runners, equestrians. Weddings and Senior pics are also popular. Day use is now $8. There is a restroom and several picnic areas by the pond to sit back and relax. To avoid the fee, park off Ramsey Canyon Road and walk the 0.8 mile to the ranch house. My hiking group does weekly loop hikes in Brown Canyon. The ranch house is open during daylight. The pond is a habitat for the endangered Chiricahua Leopard Frog. There are several trails that start at the ranch house. The Brown Canyon trail is a four-mile trail that one can take into Ramsey Canyon. The Garden Connector trail, which begins off the Buffalo Soldier Trail and SR92, ends here. The Brown Canyon Loop trail also starts here, although it's not marked. Just make sure you turn left at the horse trough two miles into the hike. This is a 4.6-mile loop. Just watch out for speeding mountain bikers. There is also a 1.5-mile Nature Trail loop with a duck pond. Dogs are allowed on these trails, but must be leashed. This place can get busy on the weekends. Watch out for rattlesnakes, javelina, coyote and deer.

If so, any Earps on the porch during the McLaury/ Clanton funeral procession may have, indeed, seen the hearses pass by on their way to Boot Hill. (The type of collision between cinematic fiction and historical lore that I just love to ponder.) The modest structure and grounds are in good repair and match well with similar little dwellings throughout the area. Adjacent to the house is a statue of Tombstone's most famous lawman surrounded by a low wrought iron fence. The property itself is enclosed by another white picket fence, and there's even a horse perpetually hitched in the front yard. (A tribute to Wyatt's racing horse, Dick Naylor?) Barriers do not impede visitors' ability to view or photograph the space in its entirety from multiple angles. If you have visited Tombstone, you know that high walls or barriers obstruct many attractions from those unwilling to pay a fee (i.e. the O. K. Corral gunfight site, Rose Tree Museum, Bird Cage Theatre, etc.); this is free! Apparently, the house can be booked as lodging accommodations, so I doubt there are any public tours due to interior modernization and the comfort of guests. For this reason, I appreciate the proprietor's willingness to accommodate the history buffs and looky loos (like myself) that undoubtedly trudge around the site's periphery daily. It's a nice little quick-stop with some exceptional photo opportunities.

The woman who was on the front desk that day was so welcoming and helpful, and cheerfully set up a temporary hold on the mail while we were packing up our old house in Prescott to move. While we were there, the carrier on our route was in the back room collecting mail to be delivered, and the woman at the front desk called him out to introduce us. He said "Wait a minute, I just saw something came in for you today!" and handed us the packet of information our insurance company mailed to the new address. Personal service at its best! These folks have never failed to be accommodating, cheerful, helpful, and thorough in their service. They even helped us work through forwarding issues with our old PO in Prescott. We thank them for their service and kindness!
