Oh my, Where to start. This used to be my favorite Grocery store. Thank God I don't have to shop here anymore. For the past couple of years, hubby has gotten the dark chocolate fondant white cake here for his birthday. The bakery here used to be excellent. This year hubby wanted that same cake so we came to order it & I showed her the photo of it & she told me they don't make them anymore. She couldn't tell me why. So hubby looked around & saw a gorgeous "Tres leches cake with fruit" and he LOVES that so he said "I don't care I want this one" so we bought that one. However, while we were there I was also looking at the fresh baked breads & they were all really small & kinda deformed. That means the staff aren't PROOFING the dough long enough. It's not rocket science. However, pandemic slackers, no one wants to work, bla bla bla, I can imagine no one left here is smart enough to know how to bake. To Management: "The only employee that has ever been helpful & mentally capable of running anything is the employee "Ronnie" who ironically owns a food company. I bet he could run the bakery. Just a thought." Anyhoo, we get the cake home & it said: "Tres Leches FRUIT Cake" on the label, but turns out, it was a Tres Leches cream cake with no fruit. So the label was even wrong. Luckily, Hubby LOVED the Tres Leches cream cake, even better than the Tres Leches fruit cake he occasionally gets. So no harm no foul. All turned out well astonishingly. However, having only one excellent cake is not enough to make us return anytime soon. Please fix the bakery. Bring back the dark chocolate fondant white cake. read more

Shopped there for the first time yesterday 7/20/24. Looking for someplace other than Walmart. Bought a pack of ribs and failed to check the exp date. Which i should have. Just went to put them in the oven and they expired a week ago on 7/13/24 which tells me to double check everything else..apparently they don't have someone that checks their stock. $9 in the trash. Just checked the bacon I bought. Expires in a couple days. Guess I'll be eating bacon everyday so it doesn't go to waste too. The young man bagging my items spent most of his time chatting on his phone. Doubt I'll go back. Reminder everyone check the expiration dates. I usually do but was in a rush. Lesson learned. read more

I agree with Jennifer F. This store is really overpriced. I've seen outdated products on the shelf and/or dairy cases. Sale prices are kind of ok, but still high to be "on sale". I don't know how people on fixed incomes can afford to shop here. I go to one of the few alternatives in town which has better prices. As far as I'm concerned you can do away with self check. Bring back the human touch. I won't shop here unless I have to. Apparently your prices are so high is because you're paying for the new bigger store you're planning on building. Just because it's bigger doesn't mean you'll get more customers. Maybe you don't think you need us regular folks shopping here. Catering to the elite and snobs of G'ville? Sad, to say the least! This store is so frustrating. The prices are outrageous to start. It would be different if the quality was worth it like Central Market, or even Kroger, but not Tom Thumb. Just today I saw moldy produce mixed in, contaminating the other items on the shelves. They also struggle with stocking the shelves correctly, and tagging appropriate items on sale. Today they had socked the shelf wrong, and I grabbed an item that marked on sale. I put the item in my cart, and at check out they wouldn't honor the sale where all of the items were lined up. I even asked the manager why they wouldn't honor it even though they stocked it wrong, and labeled the sale price and never checked. She didn't have an answer. This store has a lot of issues. Steer clear. Walmart is even a better option. read more

Go-to grocery store, probably the best grocery store in Gainesville. Owned by Safeway. Design is a bit dated but it's renovated quite well. This location contains a deli, bakery, pharmacy, doctor's office, and also an indoor Starbucks. It otherwise contains all the standard groceries a grocery store might have, such as organic produce or freshly prepared meats. read more

10/10. The bakery is amazing. A young lady name cortny helped me get get my muffins, she was very nice. When I got a birthday cake, the lady was very patient and laughed at my jokes and made eye contact. I come here when I'm lonely. Sometimes I visit her house. read more

The best grocery store in Gainesville. Better stock than most and better selection. Best produce available. But it's not hard to be number one when there is not much competition. Stores in larger markets leave this one way behind. read more

The food here is way overpriced unless you're using coupons. I do love the pharmacy and the flowers and everything else they have in there like Starbucks in the ready food. read more

Tom Thumb (Safeway) gets nicer every year! Great produce department and bakery/deli. The beer selection is getting huge with all kinds of local beers popping up. The pharmacy is great and filled with awesome people and the health section has any kind of meds you need. They also have a completely OK floral department. They kind of just stick movies in random spots, but that's alright. It's like a tiny H.E.B. with a small section for just about everything from pet food to hallmark cards and toiletries. The prices are a little higher than other stores in town, but it's so much nicer and easier to get in and out of than Walmart and spots like that. read more

One worker did not have mask on nose. One customer did not wear a mask at all. Most people had masks. Typical small city Tom Thumb. Not as much variety as in big city, but a lot anyway. I have always liked this Tom Thumb. I wish they went a bit further in enforcing mask policy. read more

This store is always clean and stocked. The staff and management is very polite. Their sales for the most part are great but sometimes can be a little hard to follow. My main complaint is how expensive items are full price. Some items are double what they are at Walmart. I hate giving business to Wally World and try to shop the Tom Thumb sales when I can. It should be more affordable though so I can do ALL of my shopping here! read more

Good prices, good selection . We shop here all the time. Way much better shopping experience than at *. Not sure about the pharmacy only because I've had very little dealings with it, but I'm almost sure it probably as good as any in town. read more

Pretty good store, newish remodel

My go-to grocery store! Everything is clean, organized, and they have friendly staff that are always happily willing to answer any questions you may have. I love the healthy and specialty options they provide. They have great quality produce, too! I've never personally been a customer of the deli or pharmacy, but I've never heard or seen of any complaints. The flower dept. has beautiful options and also a very helpful staff who care about their customers and the products they take home! read more
