Do not go there ! unless you just need a filIng. He has no knowledge of bridges or crowns after waisting thousands of dollars I have to pay on other doctor to redo his work. It's sad to see doctors who look at you just let me another dollar. read more

Our family moved to Oregon a few years ago and tried out a few local dentists. The first West Linn dentist practice we tried (with a large, ultra- modern office) sent us running out the door, due to their phony and dire diagnoses. After that, we were lucky to find Dr. Curtis. He and his staff give much more realistic assessments. I have not yet had serious dental work performed at this office (which is a good thing!) But have had the pleasure to have my teeth cleaned by two different hygienists. No doubt about it, this office has the best and gentle hygienists. read more

If I could give no stars I would although I admit the hygienists seem competent and friendly. My family all went to Dr Curtis for some years although we didn't love the work he did on our teeth because two of us have had on-going residual pain afterwards, but he's local and convenient. However, we had an absolutely horrible experience with their billing practices: the children and I hadn't been in for some months because I had been out of state most of the summer caring for a family member. While I was gone they served my 14 YEAR OLD son with small claims court papers over a bill less then $500!!!! AND my husband had just been in their office the week before having his teeth cleaned, but NOT ONCE did they mention an outstanding bill on our account or ask for payment which he would have happily and apologetically taken care of. They did however happily work on his teeth and set up an appointment for him for a crown WITHOUT one word about an outstanding bill. I worked in dental offices for years when I was younger and not once did we treat a regular patient with such disorganized indifference. Their front office is disorganized and they are happy to hand your minor court papers (COURT PAPERS!!) while merrily chatting with you in their chair. We can not in good conscience recommend this dentist or practice to anyone. read more

Just moved to the area from CA, and I was referred to Dr. Curtis from my insurance. Had checked out Yelp and liked how nearby he was downtown. Needed to be seen for a cleaning and to address some pain I was having in a tooth, figured I needed a filling. Was able to schedule an exam, cleaning and have the filling done quite quickly (all done in the same appt). Dr. Curtis was friendly, professional and my tooth is now pain free. No scammy tricks trying to scam me into any unnecessary procedures (had an experience like that prior with another dentist in California). Great experience overall. Everyone hates the dentist but as a patient, I've always felt that Dr. Curtis genuinely has my best interest in mind. He gives you honest feedback, presents all options and tells you what it will cost before any work is done. He answers his phone after hours when I have a problem. Dr. Tom Curtis is a Dentist that tells you the truth about your concerns. He saved me from having two crowns replaced by a previous dentist. He is honest, tells you the truth! I did NOT need them replaced. The atmosphere of his staff is friendly and professional. My dental hygienist is Denise, and she does an excellent job of cleaning my teeth, and giving me good advice. I have always had a severe fear of the dentist for as long as I can remember... such a strong fear that I had not seen the dentist is over 8 years. Unfortunately I was now having toothaches and needed to go to the dentist ASAP! My friend recommended Dr. Tom Curtis of West Linn to me so I made the call. They were able to get me in right away and even handled all my insurance questions for me! From the moment I walked through the door the wonderful staff helped me feel at ease! I have now had my dental work completed and they were really able to help me work through my fears. I am actually looking forward to having my next cleaning appoinment which says a lot! My first visit was great! I elected to change my dentist because the other dentist had very limited office hours and I found myself with a broken tooth!! If it were not for the bill I just received after 5 years from this dentist's shoddy work I would not have to take the time to write this post. I paid cash each step of the way (in advance) and was left with the loss of a tooth that I had insisted was infected. He insisted there was no infection. I was desperate and petrified of losing any teeth and he knew I was willing to pay whatever it cost to fix my mouth. Now I have to take this man to court to stop his underhanded billing. It isn't the cost to me, that was ever the issue, to the contrary, I went to him ready and willing to pay whatever was necessary to preserve my teeth. He advertises that he does 'cosmetic' dentistry. I paid thousands of dollars that ended with the loss of my anchoring tooth to the partial I already had. My words to him 'I will pay whatever it takes to keep these teeth.' I did not accept his dismissal of the infection and took a friend who insisted she be there because her deceased father was a DMD and she was furious at what she was seeing. Thank God I found a specialist, oral surgeon and Prosthodontist who were able to give me a the beautiful smile I went to him for in the first place. Money was not the issue but both the emotional and physical pain he caused. After 50k cash to restorative cosmetic professionals my teeth are beautiful. read more

I've had several procedures from cleaning to a root canal and have complete confidence in Dr. Tom and his entire staff. I like the fact that his name is on the door so you know who will be personally caring for you, unlike corporate clinics and franchises. I'm on a limited budget and don't have dental insurance so like to know the cost of services before rendered. The way I understand it, you pay the same amount that is paid by dental plans for each procedure, I've always received accurate estimates with no "up-sell". I don't think you could find a more competent, honest, affordable dentist and would recommend him to anyone. read more

On the positive side, the front office was welcoming and informative. The actual dental work seems to have been done well. However, the hygienist took what seemed like an endless number of x-rays which were not adequate for Dr. Curtis, leading to taking many more. I never saw any of them; all were reviewed behind my back. When I went in for a root canal many more x-rays were taken with the dentist finally taking some to get a satisfactory angle. So many were taken that they ceased removing the protective apron from my chest. Again, all were reviewed behind my back. There was obvious ineptness. The office had my insurance information a significant amount of time before procedures were done. I paid what they calculated would not be paid by insurance only to receive another bill later. Even though the dental offices are in a modest facility, the prices are hardly commensurate! This office may not give you an estimate of the costs you may anticipate, as in my case and is done with other dentists. Beware! I will anxiously return to my regular dentist. read more
