We think we found the right parking area, but not 100%, prepare for a long walk to get to any real viewing area. We did go later in the morning, so on us as it was hot, hot, and hot. No facilities so plan accordingly - hit restroom on way, plenty of water (plenty) as we had no cell service. Prepare for a little hump in wide open, bring sunscreen, wide brim hat, maybe a snack, etc. Common sense stuff for locals, but us northerners need constant reminding as the walk back was starting to get brutal as we should have brought more H2O, better head cover. Definitely will be back (earlier) as there is a lot of potential during the right time of day, year. We saw blue herons nesting, egrets, cormorants, and verdin, red-wing blackbirds. Growth of vegetation blocked a lot of viewing.

I like the fact that there is playground equipment that's age appropriate. Nice place to come to see geese, ducks and other birds all around. My friend went here and saw the "Burrowing owls". They named two of them:) There were about 5 of them all together. Just wish there was more shade near the water area, it's hot out there in the sun! Will definitely visit again. There is a group workout of Saturday mornings at 7 am that is great too.

I offered them our peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and got them water went to the store and got them some more food and snacks but I just highly recommend you don't let your kids play here or bring them here. It is overpopulated with homeless people and it's just a little bit nerve-racking because they aren't Going to move or get up for you if you ask them to or if they see you they just stay there laying on the benches and the splash pad is covered in dirty muck water!! :(

There was a decent amount of litter and the picnic tables were broken and certainly in need of replacing. Other than that they had a great time. I do like that there is plenty of equipment and even a side for the smaller kiddos so they don't get trampled by the bigger kiddos. My 21 month old loves this park and all of the different stuff she can go on. I will say you might think it's in the 'ghetto' as the neighborhood surrounding it can be questionable, but we come here often and have never seen anything weird. People are friendly or mind their own business. The grounds are kept nice. Big trees and lots of green grass. Perfect for picnics and walks. I do think there is more trash around sometimes in the play area l because of piggy kids, but it's usually a few things and we just pick them up and throw away. Littering disgusts me:) Also I have never been here when it was too busy or crowded so it doesn't seem to happen too often unless perhaps someone is throwing a party and if so the locals have many friends and relatives.

There are trees along the way that provide a bit of shade. It also seemed relatively safe, even under the bridges, as there didn't appear to be people hanging out there.
