A quick visit to my health plan's website turned up this facility tucked away off of Main St. in the Bedroom of the High Sierras (that's Bishop, California to you and me). I pulled into a deserted emergency room parking lot around 5:45am on a Saturday morning in May, 2014 and rang the after-hours bell at the check-in window. A triage nurse acknowledged me at once, took my vitals, punched some personal info into the computer and turned me over to the admitting nurse. The first-time patient check-in went surprisingly fast and I settled into a chair in the waiting room where I had barely enough time to text a status update to the missus back at the Creekside Inn. The male nurse confirmed my identity, examined the ear canal and decided on the peroxide fizz/irrigation regimen. The female doctor concurred and after a couple washes, rinses and some digging, my right ear (the one prone to these things) was back to clear-as-a-bell hearing. I was back in my hotel room before 7:00am After over 30 years of spending the night in Bishop on the way to and from Lake Tahoe, it's nice to discover something new. True, it's not an overlooked gem of a restaurant, but it's comforting to know it's here if we need it.

This clinic is a joke. The only reason I gave them 2 stars…read moreis that if you're lucky enough to get an appointment when you need it, they are usually quick to get you in & out. I went there for prenatal care for my most recent pregnancy. They never checked for obvious issues that could come up, esp with my history and risk factors. The secretaries think they're doctors qualified to make decisions about patients' health. The actual doctors take their sweet time getting back to patients in need of help. I'll spare you the gory details, but will add that they REFUSED to provide me with anything close to necessary postpartum care. If you have a choice, I recommend trying Ridgecrest or even Reno if you can... I wish I had had a home birth.

I love this clinic: attentive staff (thank you, Lori) and my doctor, Dr. Kim, is great. She's kind,…read morecompassionate, and very competent. My first interaction with her was for a uterine biopsy. I was very nervous, as I have a low threshold for pain but an intolerance of epinephrine, which is used in the anesthetic injections. She and her staff went out of their way to assure me that no epinephrine was in the shots (the nurse showed me the bottle!), and Dr. Kim made sure I had no pain whatsoever. It was quick and painless, and for that I'm deeply grateful. Results followed promptly and were explained in detail. All other visits have been great.

I was in Mammoth Lakes for what was to be 8 days and 7 nights of vacation with our kids, their spouses, and six grandkids. All was well until I discovered that the CPAP cushion in its package, brought from home, was not correct to my travel device. That first night was awful. I woke up exhausted and more. Luckily, I searched medical supply businesses within a 2-3 hour drive and found Air-Way Medical in Bishop, CA. Susan answered the phone and was able to understand my predicament and offer solutions even on that Saturday. I arrived before their posted closing time and with my prescription faxed to her, I went away most appreciative and thrilled to get to stay and enjoy our family's annual getaway. Her pricing was reasonable and her concern and initiative were so appreciated. Thank you! I will not forget this and recommend anyone in a similar situation, as I was, to shop there. I know that I will. Patients newly diagnosed with sleep apnea should consider Air-Way Medical in Bishop for their CPAP needs and recurring supplies.

I do recognize that giving such short notice to cancel is not ideal. In retaliation, they cancelled my upcoming cleaning appointment without notifying me. So I showed up, hearing whispers between the staff in the back (no one is ever at the desk to greet you). Then Dr. Overholtzer comes out and says I should seek care elsewhere. Fine. But to purposely not notify me of this prior to showing up was just petty. Also the 'consults' were over the top. It's really weird to have your dentist want to do a therapy session with you & not just take care of your teeth.
