She's a young, energetic and exceptionally knowledgeable sommelier (soon to be) who gave us a wonderful education on local wines and winemaking as well as introducing us to some great local vintners and a lunch (we took a morning tour) at a truly spectacular local restaurant (included).
Unlike what I've experienced in California, on the Pagus tour you are the only ones at the wineries and you get the full attention of the vintners, yet with very little sales pressure. When we visited - Christmas 2017 - the dollar was almost even with the Euro and the wine prices, were amazing. You can buy right there or ship home if you like... or both. BTW, I'm just a middle income guy, so for the well-heeled I'm guessing it's an even bigger bargain.
The vintners put out a spread of local fare to go with the wines, such as bread, meats, cheese and chocolate. Yumm. I can't imagine how the tastings and tour could have been more enjoyable. I highly recommend it and that you request Sofia if at all possible. Oh goodness... I almost forgot, the wines are AMAZING. If you love a good Amarone, Ripasso or Valpolicella - don't skip this one!
