This is a hidden gem. I would even say that this is the best Mexican food in Georgia. I really like…read morethe Mexican guacamole because it's full of flavor and freshly made. my friends and I came upon this place when we were on our way to New Orleans. I'm so glad that we were all really hungry because we would never have stopped by this place. The interior is really nice. Lots of decorations reflective of the Mexican culture, and lots of wood, which gives this place a very homey feel. I ordered the sliced beef quesadilla, Mexican guacamole, and fried ice cream. The quesadilla was full of flavor, and really good. There is generous serving of beef and it is smothered in melted cheese. Two slices were enough for me, I saved the other two for dinner later that evening. As far as a fried ice cream, it was a little too heavy on the whip cream, but they know how to fry ice cream right here. It's coated with corn flakes, and not breading, so there's a sweeter taste to the coating of the fried ice cream.

Yes, they have that lunch menu on the back of their menu, but ignore it -- it's for the frightened. (Well, it's also excellent, especially the chimichanga, so order from it if you like... it's just as delicious!) Look INSIDE for the best dishes! Carne asada, carnitas, chimichangas that aren't piles of grease around deep fried bean burritos, ceviche, fajitas, burritos made with fresh frijoles refritos, chiles rellenos made with real poblano chiles.... the list goes on and on. I have to mention the sopaipillas made with real honey, and a flan that will literally melt in your mouth. Clean, bright, well maintained, La Pareja has a homey atmosphere, welcoming staff, quick service, and NO television blaring in the background! Also (if you must) there's free wifi for customers. The service was great--we were seated right away and had just the right amount of time to look over the menu and order drinks and food. The restaurant offers a solid selection of classic Mexican dishes. As soon as we sat down, we were served complimentary chips and salsa. We also added cheese dip and chunky guacamole to start. The cheese dip was a bit watery, which made it tricky to scoop, but it still had good flavor. The chunky guacamole was made with big pieces of avocado, onion, and tomato, all topped with lime juice--simple and fresh. I ordered the Carne Asada Tacos, which came with a side of salsa. They were slightly dry but still tasty. Overall, it's a solid spot for Mexican food if you're visiting Carrollton.
