First off, this is one of the only places I found that let me play with a group of five, which was great. The course was in excellent shape and I really enjoyed it. It's a wooded golf course and I didn't see any sand traps. The staff was friendly, though there were some hiccups with getting everyone paid and started. I wanted to check out Toad Valleys new Toptracer Flights. I booked it online but when I called today they didn't see the reservation. I was able to rebook it over the phone. The building is right by the parking lot so you won't miss it. Check in is at the bar. The bay has plenty of seating and a menu to order food like pizza and burgers. We didn't try the menu today but will next time. There's a heater in each bay. There are games and courses to choose from. The max distance is 200 yards. There is no net so players cannot use drivers or hit further than that. It's a pretty cool option for things to do in the Des Moines area. I would definitely play there again. read more

The mini golf is a fine little course - fun enough that we've returned over the years and went twice during our week in Iowa this year. Friendly staff, convenient facilities, well priced. Not a cheesy mini golf course -- no windmills or dinosaurs -- but a nice, challenging, winding course with great water features and challenges akin to a real course. read more

Family owned facility that is always in great shape. Never too crowded that you can't finish 9 holes in 2 hours. Owners/staff are friendly and treat players extremely well. Very affordable golf. read more

5:15 PM on 4/28 at the flight zone top racer- employee in orange/red sweatshirt was incredibly rude. Since it was a rainy day, we were deciding what to do. At 4:30 PM, we looked at tee times for the racer and it was wide open and stated it closed at 9 PM. We decided not to book the tee time since we were unsure of what time we would arrive. Upon arrival and entering the building, the employee was extremely rude and disrespectful asking us if we had a reserved time. We explained the situation and he said "Well, when did you try to book? 8 hours ago? if you even tried recently you would've seen were closing at 5 today". We tried remaining respectful saying that we looked only 1hour and an half ago, it might have been a technical glitch, and we're not trying to disrespect his time or efforts. We even showed him two devices that had the website pulled up showing that the times were all open and said it was closing at 9. We all work in customer service and understand the desperation to close early when it is poor weather/not busy. We were not upset by it closing early, but more upset with the disrespect and aggressiveness of the employee. We ended up having a great time anyway heading to the clubhouse where a much nicer employee offered us to play the course or the golf simulator. We frequently visit the course and have previously been members and always enjoy our time. We were just insanely shocked by the disrespect of the male employee at the racer. We will return to the course again, but hope for more respect of our time. read more

I can't vouch for the course - I'm not a golfer - but I can say event planning there was wonderful! I had my wedding there in April, and Allison George truly is the "wizard of fun". She got back to me quickly on all my questions, catered to all of our special requests, and did it all for a better value than any other place in town. Fairways and tee boxes were not mowed. Also, when colder weather begins, do not allow tee times before 10 AM to accommodate for the frost to melt. We had an 8:10 AM tee time and did not tee off until 9:20 due to frost. We didn't know until we arrived at clubhouse at 8 AM. Also, the clubhouse gentleman kept calling me "Wild Man." I had a couple questions and the immediate response I got was, "What's that, wild man?" I don't know, maybe I look like a "wild man" but stop calling people that. Look, he was a nice enough guy but it was annoying. read more

Course is in dire need of maintenance. Tee boxes are full of crab and silver crab. Fairways are burned out in many locations. Rough is uneven and not mowed. Not recommended. read more

We had our wedding here last weekend, both ceremony and reception, and we had a really great experience. Allison was great to work with, extremely helpful and attentive, I was very impressed. The outdoor ceremony space was very beautiful and aside from it being cloudy all day, I wouldn't have changed a thing. The food and atmosphere was great and our guests seemed to enjoy themselves. Toad Valley was a better value than I was able to find anywhere in Des Moines. We did hors d'eouvres only with a hosted bar and some extras and I felt it was a steal. If you're looking for something affordable but still very nice, look no further! The grounds were an amazing setting and backdrop for our photos too! read more

We booked them for a wedding reception and it ended in tears, angry phone calls and emails, and lawyers not returning phone calls about broken promises in writing to own up to mistakes made. They promised 20 tables and delivered 11. They used my rented table cloths for a wine tasting event they double booked the course for that day and still to this day deny it even though I have pictures to prove it. They cleared the food a half hour before the party was over, food we paid for. And they pressed us for payment at 9:30 before the party was even scheduled to be over (at 10pm). We confronted them, they bullied us with a lawyer, and then didn't even hold up their promise of a refund for the table cloths, unused center pieces for the missing 9 tables, or all the trouble/stress they caused. I still have emails and images supporting it all and they and their lawyer refuse to acknowledge any of it. We eventually got so sick and tired of the circus we gave up. Never again. And if they think we forgot about it, we haven't. A once in a lifetime event, how could we forget? read more

What a fun, well conditioned golf course, great value, friendly employees, darn good food, best part is: the husbands played golf and the families played Putt - Putt and other activities. Definitely a great family oriented venue. read more
