We had a large group, and Simon was incredible at getting us organized and making everything smooth and enjoyable. It was absolutely worth the drive from Waikiki. What a great time! If you attended the Toa Luau and could not feel the hospitality and effort put out by the family here, I really cannot help you. We arrived and were warmly greeted even though road construction made us late. We purchased the Silver package which put us at a taller table on the rear of the room, but the sight lines were great and we were able to easily enjoy the show. They start off with some hands on time experiencing the various parts of the culture the show will get into later. We got to husk and open coconuts, peel tiny green bananas, peel Taro, and lots of other activities. Then they moved on to show a traditional cooking setup. The meal was tasty with lots of options on the plate and they will keep serving you whatever you might want so you will not be leaving hungry. After the meal they our on a heck of a show with all the dancers, drummers, and the quite entertaining MC. Overall it was fantastic fun and I cannot imagine a better Luau anywhere on the island. I did the Lunch Gold experience for 12pm during my recent trip to Hawaii. This was one of the best experiences I had during my entire trip. This is a must have experience that I will be recommending to all friends and family. We were a large party of 6 adults and 4 kids that perfectly fit the 10 seat tables. Before the meal, there are some games and activities to learn the culture. The staff wove crowns for my kids and even gave each of us beautiful fresh flower leis to keep. The meal was delicious, I was too busy stuffing my face that I forgot to take a picture! Each plate comes with Roasted Kalua Pork, Grilled Shoyu BBQ Chicken, Island Macaroni Salad, Pupukea Green Salad, Lomi Tomato, Rice with Furikake, local Fruits, Haupia and White Cake with Coconut Frosting. I was shocked that we were being offered refills for our plates... YES PLEASE! It really felt like I was at a huge family party. The staff were so welcoming, friendly and really made the effort to speak with us and our kids. My kids loved the show, there are some drum parts that can get pretty loud, but headphones are available for rental free of cost for kids that really saved the day for me! The show was amazing, dancing, story telling... even fire (at a safe distance of course)! With your ticket entry you also have access to Waimea Valley which has a waterfall you can swim in and a trail to hike with beautiful views... there is even a bus back at a fee if you cannot manage the hike back from the waterfall. The entire experience has clearly been very thoughtfully planned to make all guests have the best experience possible. We got the VIP seating which I recommend if you're with elderly folks or ones that have a hard time seeing, otherwise there really isn't a bad view in the house due to the stage setup. Before our meal and the performance, the performers had an activity section where they taught us some cultural dance moves and how to play some instruments. Went with my cousins and some have been to luau in the past and said this is one of the best they been to. We did the dinner reservations and it was very entertaining and our host was pleasant and hilarious. He would give us the history of Hawaii and cracked jokes which is great. Dancers were all amazing and they actually our servers too. Which is super coo. Love all the dance and my all time favorite would be the fire show. 10/10, would absolutely go again! I went to a 5pm slot on Feb. 19. It was worth the hour long drive from Waikiki, where my friend and I were staying. Everyone there was so nice and friendly! We had Gold tickets and had a good view of the stage. The event started with hands-on activities, like braiding your own head crown, getting a beautiful flower lei, trying out a Hawaiian game where you pass sticks to a partner (I believe it's called tititorea), and husking a coconut (which they later crack open for you to drink). They put on a food demo using traditional Hawaiian cooking methods. The food was good: we had kalua pig, chicken with sauce, rice with furikake (?), mac salad, green salad, cut fruit, haupia (coconut pudding), and a slice of coconut cake from Ted's Bakery (a famous bakery nearby). I don't eat pork and wish I had been able to request for it not to be on my plate, but I just gave it to my friend. The staff walked around making conversation and refilling drinks. It very much felt like attending a family party with amazing, hospitable hosts. You can request for more food if you want and don't have to get up to do so. We also had drink tickets and the nonalcoholic one we tried was very sweet but good. The show was amazing! I loved how they featured dances from different Polynesian cultures. My favorite were the fire performances. The emcee was hilarious all throughout the night! He had us laughing from the cooking demonstration until the very end of the show. I would suggest taking your pictures before it gets too dark. They have a nice yard with mountains in the background that was nice for pictures. I was hoping to get sunset pictures but the dinner/show was going on during then. I would also suggest bringing a teeny tiny bag as you'll want to have your hands free to do the activities! My only very minor complaint is that the show was really loud at times. We were near the stage and speakers, so that might be why. I wish I had brought ear plugs to protect my hearing. But I loved this luau and love how it's owned and operated by locals!!! Oh, also-you get free access to Waimea Falls with your luau purchase, and the entrance /parking to the luau is in the same place. The walk to the falls is paved and very easy. My friend and I did the walk first (about 2 hours before the start of the luau), changed into our luau clothes, then checked in for the luau. One of the highlights of our trip! What a beautiful way to see Hawaiian culture. We walked around Waimea Falls before the luau started (sadly no water at the waterfall, but the workers did tell us ahead of time). When we checked in for the luau we got told we got upgraded to VIP which absolutely a cherry on top to an already perfect luau! There were multiple activities to do before the show started which was all so fun! Got to play with poi balls and learn how to hula. All the staff were amazing!! The host really made the show too! They are a family run luau, and everyone comes together to put on the best performance. I don't remember who the MC was but his hosting was amazing, lively, and hilarious. You are served food and then get to watch the Hula dances, cultural traditions, and fire show. We were given drink tickets, which was one drink from the list of cocktails offered on the menu, but to add on a piña colada for example, was $5 extra. I got the Lilikoi Sour, I believe. I liked my drink, and thought it was perfect to sip on. Now the food? Incredible portions. A generous plate includes pulled pork, chicken, mac salad, greens, a hawaiian roll, and a scoop of white rice. On the side was a few fruit, coconut jello, and a slice of coconut cake. Everything was so authentic and that pulled pork was delicious! The dances were full of energy and the fire show was my favorite, especially their youngest one doing the fire show I was amazed at everyone's skill. You can stop in at the Dole pineapple plantation, hike to a waterfall thru the botanical garden and then the best luau experience with the friendliest staff. The ticket allows you access to Waimea Valley so definitely take advantage of that!! go early and explore the valley- this is my one regret as we didn't take the time to do that. we booked the 5pm luau, got there around 5:15pm and found that the front gate was "closed"- we were very confused as there were no signage about the luau and thought we were in the wrong place. we ended up going past the closed sign & parked in the parking lot, walked up to the visitor center, and started seeing groups of people dressed up for a luau so we figured we ended up in the right place. we checked in and were greeted between a very friendly staff, who welcomed us with Lei's and walked us to our table. the bar had specialty cocktails & you could also ask for well drinks. since we were a little late, we missed the pre show activities. we made it right in time for the start of the show (I won't give anything away!!). We really enjoyed the hospitality of the group, our MC had the best jokes and energy, and kept the good vibes going the whole night. we loved how informative and entertaining the luau was, we learned a lot about polynesian culture and really felt the alpha spirit!!! there are a ton of luau options in Hawaii and i'm very happy that we chose this one. read more

Came across a lot of great reviews on Toa Luau when I looked for luaus in Oahu. I have nothing to compare it with since this was my first luau but it was a really great experience. I originally picked the 12:30PM one but that got cancelled. I rescheduled to the 5PM show. About an hour from Waikiki, it's located in Waimea where the valley garden and falls are. We did not hike anymore since we've been here a few days before. There are three packages to choose from: silver, gold and VIP. The differences are on the seating area and the amount of drink tickets included (they have both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options). Got the gold one which was close but not too close to the front. When you check in, you are given a flower lei and they escort you to your seat. Shortly after, the cultural activities begin. These were fun as they were interactive. You get to participate in coconut weaving, opening a coconut, trying poi, and many others. Kava ceremony follows. After this, you'll head back to the dining area where dinner will be served. Food was very good. A Polynesian show follows. The host of the show was so funny and lively. A lot of dancing and great performances including a fire knife show from this year's winner. Energy was high and very much palpable. Everyone in the audience enjoyed. There's a photo opportunity with the performers at the end. Great experience, definitely worth the money. The experience lasted about 3 hours with doing some activities out in the lawn before they started the show. It came with one drink and the seating we got was towards the back but it's high chairs so we had a pretty great view. I believe anywhere you seat in the Luau has a good view of the stage. The food was great, especially the pork and chicken, and they make sure you never leave hungry. They even noticed when one of us was low on food and offered to bring more without us asking. I got the gold package deal, which provided me seating that had pretty great view of the stage and my little one was able to watch the stage also. Each ticket provided 2 drinks, either alcoholic or non alcoholic. Of course you can purchase more tickets if needed. The cast was amazing. They were all friendly, attentive, and funny. At the beginning of the luau they had stations of different activities that every guest can take part of, such as husking a coconut, making coconut milk, helping prepare for meals with unripe bananas, making headbands and etc. Then you gather around the fire and get told a story and watch how the food gets cooked, however you do not get to try the food due to the cooking not being up to health standards (shucks), but it was still great to watch and learn. After the activities, they serve us the luau food. There was salad, chicken, kalua pork, bread, Mac salad, rice, fruits, haupia, and cake. The little one got her own plate of chicken and rice, which she loved. All the food was amazing. They offered seconds if you wanted. After the dinner they provided a great show, which included different styles of dancing throughout the different islands and included the crowd to join. Overall, it was a fun and great learning experience. Would definitely recommend. Tip: Go early to hike the Waimea Valley and explore the nature. They had technical difficulties and the host had us doing annoying things to pass the time. They had a lot of filler stuff I didn't need to see. I don't care whose birthday it is or whose anniversary it is. Cut 30 min from your show not to Bore most of the audience. Little kids were falling asleep. Most people who come to this are an hour away and have done beaches and other taxing things before come to the luau. read more

Toa Luau is an amazing luau in the Waimea Valley in Oahu. It's located close to north shore and is about 45 minutes to an hour from Waikiki. When you are here, they make you feel as if you're the guest of the Toa Luau Family. They have exceptional food, the entertainment is top notch, and the people were incredibly nice. From the moment we got there, we were immersed in the experience. My wife and family had a blast as we ate, learned about polynesian culture, and we enjoyed the experience. Another gem is that your meal/admission also includes the admission into the Waimea Valley Botanical Gardens. If you opt to come here early, then you can take the easy 0.75-mile walk/hike to the waterfall and swim. They provided lockers and life jackets. IMO - this is worthwhile and it's another reason to leave the Waikiki area for this Luau that's located closer to North Shore. If you do swim here, then I'd recommend bringing water shoes. I'm writing this review because coming here was one of the highlights of my trip to Oahu. People ask me where I like to go, and this is one of my top recommendations.
