We love this TKD school! What a great thing to be able to learn this sport in such a supportive,…read moreawesome, CHALLENGING but safe environment. We came here from another school a little over a year ago, the difference has been night and day. You are pushed hard and expected to work but...and this is so important, they give you the tools you need and the confidence to do it. Instructors are up to date on current standards of the sport, they take the time to make sure your technique is good and that you are really mastering what you learn. They really take time with each student, will go out of their way to make sure you have what you need to do well, and that investment shows. It's a great space, and they've been awesome about observing safety protocols over this past pandemic season. You will be in great hands here!

AND he thoroughly enjoys the sport! This place is run by a very personable family and you won't find black belts and instructors on ego trips. Every student is trained well and receives personal attention. The instructors make sure students test for their next belt only when ready and make sure students do not forget past knowledge and forms as they go up in rank. (Recently students have come to this school from another taekwondo school in the area where that was not required and they've had to do some relearning.) The instructors are caring and kind while still demanding attention to detail, focus, and excellence from the students. I have every confidence that my son will be fully prepared by the time he is ready for black belt testing, which is a big event that only happens twice a year in conjunction with other taekwondo schools around the state. In addition to regular classes, this school also has weapons classes, fitness classes, competition classes, and full contact sparring. As students move up in rank, there are also opportunities to assist with lower level classes, which is excellent for developing confidence and leadership skills. There are many opportunities to participate in seminars and competitions every year as well. The space is large, and also has locker rooms as well as comfy areas for family members to wait or watch (and free wifi!) The prices are reasonable and there are discounts for multiple family members. Recently my youngest daughter also started at this school and she is enjoying it and beginning to move up the ranks. This place has a diverse mix of students and caters to all ages. The people are warm, friendly, and accepting of everyone regardless of ability, race, gender, religion, orientation, etc. I highly recommend this school!

My son's been going for three months now and I've seen a huge improvement in his coordination and memory, he's got a longer attention span, and he's not afraid to speak up for himself. From his very first class, they were teaching him important values such as: 1) how to stay calm and concentrate when there's chaos around you 2) how to defend yourself from physical harm 3) how to set clear goals and work towards them All the instructors have mastered how to correct the children while still keeping the class fun and light. Highly recommend!

Owners Kjn Dan and Kjn Gwen treat everyone like family and create a genuine community. The classes are fun, with a wide breadth of martial arts styles represented. The multiple martial arts (MMA) serve to keep the classes continually interesting and challenging. They teach a wide variety of skills. The MMA format is based on Taekwondo, but also draws on kickboxing, grappling, and Escrima (Filipino stick fighting). For those who want more, you can sign up for weapons classes, fitness classes, and, for kids, kicknastics and the demo team. The Lil' Dragons is a fun beginner class for the youngest children that does a great job preparing them for the later color belt system. One of the things that we truly valued about the school is their mindset and culture. They teach respect and discipline, but they do so in a way that welcomes kids and families together and invites people in. They are not like military drill sergeants who demand respect...they are great teachers who cultivate respect and discipline. It's been great to watch as kids grow up in this environment and become the next generation of MMA teachers and leaders in the school. We have watched not only our daughter grow in this area but other kids as well. The school has higher ranking students teaching younger, even if that means a 12-year-old is teaching someone who is in their 40's. It's a great way to show that they value mastery of the arts as a way to respect each other. Overall, we'd highly recommend this school to anyone who is looking. Far and away, they are the best in town.

I have attended School of Respect with my son and daughter, 10 & 13 years old for the last almost a…read moreyear now. My son has also attended the the A+ after school program and the summer camps over the last year. The School of Respect doesn't simply teach Tae Kwon Do, you don't simply earn or achieve a black belt, you BECOME a black belt. In the last year there were some students who received their black belts and I had the privelege of spending a class period listening to each of them read their essays on the meaning of that black belt. Becoming a black belt is much more than kicking and punching & much more than a sport. Becoming a black belt is about being a leader in life, being the example of virtuous character and avoiding the dangerous path. Therefore the lessons they provide also include talks about stealing, bed times, video games, respect, balance, harmony and the like. My son started Tae Kwon Do with some of these & other behavioral issues and he's had some tough lessons including not testing for his next belt. Belt testing is a privelege so students must demonstrate respect at home & school as well as the dojang and they require parent and teacher approval. Their approach to learning the physical aspects of Tae Kwon Do clearly work. I am not in the best shape myself and have had difficulty in executing some of the techniques over the last year. However with the class instruction and, not as much as I should, practice at home/gym I have been able to much more naturally & effectively execute techniques, including even a simple (not so simple!) side-kick. The results of their teaching pace and content show themselves through the changes within me and my kids. All the Masters at School of Respect do a wonderful job of teaching the kids all these aspects of martial arts through demonstration. The cost of attendance is not cheap, nor would I want it to be!, however it is not expensive either. I am glad for signing a contract! I thought very carefully about what I want for me and for my kids out of this instruction. I am incentivised to continue attending and be the best I can. Lastly, the effect it has had on both of my kids individually would be enough for me. They are more confident, respectful and mature. However going through this with them has been amazing! We train together, we advance together and our relationship is better than ever. It also gives me an opportunity to be a student with them & demonstrate what it truly means to be teachable.

Besides teaching martial arts, they also place a focus on being a kind and respectful person; being supportive of others and bringing people up rather than putting them down. The star system has allowed us to carry over those same skills at home and motivates the kids to be their best selves.
