We expected a partnership, not another responsibility we had to manage ourselves…read more
We chose Gunderson because of the owner's expressed commitment to helping small businesses grow and succeed. As new business owners, we were looking for guidance, education, and a firm that would help us make informed decisions. Unfortunately, our experience over the last two years fell significantly short of that expectation.
After onboarding, the owner's involvement essentially disappeared, and we were left requesting services and guidance we didn't even know we should be asking for. Kristin was genuinely helpful and began offering valuable financial insight for both our business and family, but after a few meetings, there was no follow-up.
Between monthly payments and additional fees, we spent upwards of $10,000 annually, yet still had to initiate conversations about quarterly reviews, tax planning, and financial advice. Our taxes were filed late, and bookkeeping discrepancies required our own accountant to revisit reconciliations that should have been handled by Gunderson.
The final disappointment came when Gunderson requested copies of the previous year's tax returns that THEY had prepared. After multiple attempts to schedule a call to address our concerns, we received delayed responses and were ultimately told, "Well, that is the time that works best for us," when their proposed meeting time didn't accommodate our schedule.
I understand businesses have multiple clients and competing priorities, but customer service should also mean recognizing when a client has repeatedly expressed concerns and making a genuine effort to resolve them.
We were willing to invest in professional expertise, but for the amount we paid, we expected proactive guidance, accountability, and a level of service that reflected the partnership we were originally promised. Unfortunately, we left feeling overlooked and unsupported.
