I wasn't overly impressed with what was on offer at the Blakemere Craft Centre. The place itself is…read morequite quaint with a lovely cobbled stone square and an attractive seating area but to be honest that's about all I can say on the positive side. The place has a real artificial feel. The numerous shops sell mainly cards, crafts and antiques but the merchandise is all very samey and a bit tacky. There are a few activities for kids such as pottery painting and a falconry and the Village café serves a decent enough cake. It's the first time I've been shopping and have only spent £3 on a coffee. I won't be rushing back.
Nice place for an afternoon out. No undercover parts so if its raining you will get soaked! There…read moreis a kids play area there which is open til 5 so good for the kids and for a break for you! Not loads of shops, but theres a few good ones. Good for crafty bits. It is however expensive, we paid £15 for a blanket rabbit for our daugher, but she's now 18months old and still carries it round with her so well worth the money!

River Island

I thought this would be too trendy for an old codger like myself. Definitely wrong there and glad I…read morechecked it out. There is an excellent variety of choice to suit most people, the prices are quite reasonable and the staff attentive although I have to agree with lou2497; sometimes too persistent! I particularly like the fact that I wasn't made to feel out of place in a young person's shop which, after all, is what River Island is.

You can rely on River Island to be right up to the minute fashion wise and have amazing items. It is a fantastic place for teenagers and young people as well as having some sophisticated pieces for older people. The staff are reasonably friendly and will approach you to ask if you need any help (sometimes a little too mithering). A good selection of gimmicky gifts in store at the moment, just in time for Christmas. great!!

However much like Wigan we found this store quite small in comparison to some of the others we've visited in places like Liverpool, Manchester and Blackpool. Happily for me neither found anything they hadn't already seen in other branches so my wallet remained unopened and intact. If you're in Warrington then have a look but if you really want the full Primani experience then head for Liverpool or Manchester instead.
