They hire the rudest Teens to work there, at the jewelry counter, a young girl was supposedly helping me but got frustrated when she couldn't see what I was pointing at. she proceeded to tell me she can't see what I am pointing at, clearing she could have been nicer about it.... As you know, TJ Maxx is a same kind of store as Ross and Marshalls. They all sell more or less the same things although their "strengths" are different. There are a couple of things I love about TJ Maxx. First and foremost, their store is clean and tidy. Marshalls are also well organized, but Ross is a mess! Overall, TJ Maxx employees are very polite and professional. They treat you with respect, which you can not expect at Ross. If you want household goods, like plates, pots, and pans, you must go to TJ Maxx or Marshalls. In my opinion, these two stores do not do very well in the fashion department, at least not as well as Ross does. So, if you want clothing, you would have to put up with the rude Ross employees since they have a much bigger selection. In fact, that's the only reason to go to Ross. You could drop me off here and leave me in this store to wander around all day. Finding good deals in here should be my job. I was able to find a Michael Kors down coat and full length Ellen Tracy coat for at a fraction of what it would have cost. I also found the hubby a north face ski jacket and Michael Kors down coat for over 60% less that what it normally would have sold for. Calvin Klein and Michael Kors men's polo's and long sleeve sweater pullovers are also plentiful here and so discounted. What isn't easy to find here are men's business shirts, they don't exist, so weird, or maybe that's because they are all at Marshalls? The only reason of why it lost a few stars is because at checkout one of those electronic theft sensor tags was left on. The sensor did not go off when we passed through the doors and we had to come back to get it off. Good thing we checked everything before we headed to Canada. This location also seems to be way smaller, and slightly more disorganized with fewer clothing items on the racks than other TJ Maxx locations that I have been to across the country. I am new to Bellingham and was shopping at TJMaxx. As I walked in the front door I saw a young man trying to take the security tags off of bags in the luggage department. I watched him for a bit and then decided to let someone know. I saw a older lady with short hair (possibly manager) behind the jewelry counter. She was chitchatting with a lady for a while so I finally said excuse me, to let her know about the man possibly stealing Coach purses and bags. She was very rude and acted like I was bothering her. She asked said "there's nothing we can do...don't you know you're in Washington?" I said no I didn't know that's how things work here in Washington and that I had just moved here and she completely turned her back like she couldn't be bothered with a customer and continued talking to her friend. She was very rude and I'd hate to work with her.... I don't mind if they want to give their merchandise away but no need to be rude to customers who report it. All she needed to do is be professional and say security already knew about it. I gave a two because their merchandise is pretty good. If she is a manager she should know better. read more

Not the best TJM, but not the worst either. Conveniently located not too far from the mall, they are a good place to look for clothing or accessories should you not be able to find what you're looking for at the main shopping center in town. Customer service here is hit or miss, and I feel like whomever is relegated to the fitting room must be the lowest on the totem pole or whomever happened to draw the short straw for the day. I don't ever feel excited to try on clothes here despite having cute items in my cart. Hopefully in the future they will work on having sunnier dispositions - it will certainly make customers feel more welcome and thus more likely to make purchases! read more

TJ Maxx is one of my favorite stores EVER. Wherever I am, whatever the city, I always go to TJ Maxx. When I lived in Seattle for 25 years, I was a regular at the Woodinville TJ Maxx and must have spent, oh, I don't know how many thousands of dollars there over the years. I got whole wardrobes there when I lost weight. And the Eugene, OR TJ Maxx? LOVE love love! I say this so you know that I'm a big fan of this store. Usually. Not this one here in Bellingham. Oh, it's not because of the merchandise here. It's as great as in other TJ Maxx stores, and the lay-out of the store is also great and easily navigable. Good active wear department and excellent cosmetic/beauty department. Decent women's clothing section (other stores have a larger selection), small men's section, very good home section. My gripes lie with the customer service at check-out. Two issues rankled me: 1. my two beauty products totalled $13.02. I had $13 in bills but no change. I noted this to the cashier, thinking she'd say ok, no worries, just pay the $13 and forget about the 2 pennies. (Whenever this has happened at other stores and I'm short a penny or two, I'm always told to forget about it. I should add that I always pay if forward and give stores a nickel when I owe a few cents, telling them to keep the extra pennies for whoever needs them). Not here! I had to use my credit card because I was two pennies short. A petty issue, I know, but still.... 2. more bothersome was the issue with the mini-hair blower. There were three such mini-hair blowers for sale but none had a price tag on the box. So I brought one with me up to the cashier to inquire about the price, thinking it would be easy for the cashier to check on the price by plugging in the model number into her computer. (If it was under $10, I'd get it). The gal had an associate go check on the other models on the floor to get a price (even after I said none had a tag on them). I noted that another brand had a mini travel hair blower but it had a foldable handle and it cost $14.99. This was the only other mini hair blower there, and I assumed the associate would bring it to the cash and quote me this price. But oh no! The associate brought to the cash a full-size deluxe hair blower by the same brand that cost a LOT more! Why they wouldn't charge me the $14.99 equivalent for the other mini blower, I don't know. But wow, what a scam. I said no thank you. I was not impressed by the lack of customer service by the cashiers and associates here, needless to say. And I know I'll not return to this particular TJ Maxx. read more

On this visit I was looking for a rug runner that wasn't the typical beige or plain boring style. I found a nice bright abstract pattern by a high end manufacturer for the unbelievable price of $19.99. I love coming to TJ Maxx to shop! They have new inventory almost every day I think. They don't have any regularity of their supply so if you see something you like grab 2 because odds are they won't have it again for a long time. This store is kept fairly neat. The bathrooms need more attention though as they always seem to smell and have stuff all over. There are only 2 stalls in the ladies room which gets very crowded on the weekends!. They don't have a baby changing station in either bathroom which is inconvenient. My biggest complaint is that they ALWAYS ask a million questions at the register. The most annoying is the credit card question. I hate that companies force the employees to ask these questions every time. It's very annoying. I overheard a manager lecturing to one of the employees about not asking everyone to sign up and explain the benefits. I really just find the whole thing tacky. Over all I like the store but the credit card push is a big turn off. read more

TJ Maxx is supposed to be a store where you can buy things for less money. What I find is that it actually makes you spend more money than you otherwise would have because they only offer discounted designer items. Maybe you're getting a better perceived value, but I always feel like the effort I spent trying to find the right thing amongst the cluttered junk isn't worth the savings. Also, this particular store is so far away from town and so nestled into a shopping center that I wouldn't shop there unless I happened to be there for some other reason. Also, I agree with other reviews that the bathrooms need attention. They are dingier than a highway McDonalds. Further, it's always a long line to check-out. As if I haven't wasted enough of my time trying to shop this store, I'm now herded though checkout like livestock just to be harassed about signing up for a credit card or buying their stupid reusable bag. It's simply not worth your time. They sell stuff you don't need at prices you can't afford then make you feel like you're not worth good customer service. Have some respect for yourself. read more

They have really great deals, but very horrible customer service. My daughter and I decided to try on a few things. She had 2 pants, I had 2 dresses and 1 jogging pants. When trying on clothes the older male employee shook our clothes we were trying on, to check if we hid anything. On the way out i handed him 3 items that didn't work out for us. He then asked me what items I took in and what items my daughter took in. He couldn't do basic math, if we had a total of 5 items going in and 3 items are going back to him, doesn't the 2 items in my hand add up to 5? I spent $99.99 tonight and I'm kind of regretting it because of the service i received. It's not fun being treated like a shop lifter when you're not one. read more

This is one of my favorite stores to check out when I'm in the states shopping. TJ Maxx is like a nicer version of Winners in Canada where things are more organized. They do have a great collection at the jewelry section and it is relatively cheap especially if they have them on for clearance. They have men, women, kids, shoes kitchenware, bathroom ware, toys, furniture, cosmetics and electronics section. I find that their styles are nicer and usually up to date. Make sure you check out their clearance section for some hidden treasure. Service is usually great as they are nice and friendly. There may be lineups at the cashier during busy hours. When is T J Max in Bellingham WA going to expand. With all the Canadians shopping there the store is too small for all the shoppers coming to that location. They need to double the size and put in a much larger Homegoods store like they have in Southern Calif to cater to the number of shoppers. Or even move to a better location where they can have a bigger premises and be out of that crazy strip mall they are in now, where the parking is difficult and they compete with other big box stores all in one strip mall.
