After reading reviews we had great expectations for Titash.
Booked a table for 7.30pm and on arrival there was a queue of diners waiting to be seated (good sign we thought)
We weren't seated until around 8pm. The restaurant was busy and noisy and as mentioned in other reviews it was camped.
It took a while before someone came to offer drinks and poppadoms etc.
As we hadn't been given a drinks menu they gave us some more time but it ended up being about 20 minutes before someone came back.
Drinks arrived but the Cobra draught beer was completely flat so ended up with bottled beer which we had to chase to get.
Poppadoms arrived.
We then ordered our main dishes.
Then the tables next to us were filled by a group of 16 men who some of which turned out to be the noisiest, rowdy, most obnoxious diners we'd ever been seated near.
Although it was only 4 or 5 of them making the row the noise really was unbearable.
A couple next to them and us asked to be moved but as there were 6 of us there were no other seats so we couldn't do that.
Other diners were receiving their mains but had ordered after us and we thought they had lost our order.
We finally got our food at 9.40pm and were hopeful it was worth the wait.
Sadly the food was disappointing too, 2 tikka massalas, 3 madras and a dhansak.
Having eaten at many Indian restaurants over the years the food was bland and not the standard we would expect.
The bhajees were over cooked, madras were lacking something in the flavour, tikka massalas had way too much coconut making them excessively sweet and the dhansank didn't have that spark it should.
The group of men finally left and even the staff were relieved, we had about 20 minutes of quiet before we left.
We normally leave a tip but on this occasion we didn't.
Genuinely our worst dining experience ever. read more
