Also in the couples package you will get a lunch and you can wait in the chill out room which it has been made an effort to make you feel that you travel away in a nice serene environment. It has a beautiful setting with calming music with comforatble sun type loungers chairs and unlimited cup of herbal teas that you can help yourself. I have also tried Elemis facials which I liked them a lot. And the Spa bathrooms are pure luxury. Also if you want to visit Lowry's restaurant they have nice menu offers and a very welcoming manager. Having worked in the customer service field I get how important it is but also how easy it is to forget about it and think 'why does it matter' well this review proves it does with a 4 star rating! On this visit I had a 55 minutes Deep-Tissue massage due to my increasingly fragile muscles (too much football) and I left feeling great. Deep-Tissue massages can be a little different and less relaxing as they are digging into you a little more but I did feel surprisingly supple afterwards! For the last birthday, we learnt how to make sushi at Samsi in Spinningfields which was hilarious! My mum had never had a facial either and I didn't know if she'd ever had her nails done, so I booked us in for a mini facial (you pick two areas yourself) and a polish and preen manicure each. Upon arrival, you will smell delightful incense and be seated in very comfy chairs... We had to wait in turn for the facial as we chose the micro dermal diamond facial - there is only one machine for this. Boy was it worth it though! I was even advised upon asking the nail technician that this was the best one to choose. I was nervous at first but the calming music that carries throughout the building and the confident person doing the facial, explaining everything each step of the way, is more than enough to help you relax! He explained that he would be cleansing the skin first, then applied a rough scrub to my face, and notified me he would be turning on the machine and not to be alarmed. ...Machine?! Oh you mean the quiet whirring of the box next to you with the tiny suction wand? Oh it's like it sandblasts my skin? It felt like a tiny little suction tip moving across my T-Zone! Amazing! And if you hadn't had enough of the revelation of your skin feeling like it can actually breath afterwards, wait until he shows you the container of dirt that's been sucked out of your pores! Ewwww!! But so good to see and feel how much clearer your skin is :) I went back through to have my nails done whilst my mum went in - the guy doing the facials was great and gave us all the advice we needed - you can have these facials every 11 days if you're trying to target an area of blackheads - I totally need to do this... The girl doing my nails was lovely, advised me on a colour because I was so indecisive and the bright blue looks lovely on :) If you're in need of a nails scrub up like we were, the preen and polish is definitely for you! Cuticles treated, trimmed if need be, nails polished, filed and lacquers of polish. 3 days later and they still look good :) I will definitely be back for more facials! The gym offers a good range of equipment, including two running machines, three cross trainers, four bikes, one rowing machine, two weights machines and more. There is also a weights room for those wanting to focus! After exercising, the changing rooms have powerful hot showers with Gilchrist and Soames shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. Also great hairdressers and straightners for the ladies! Want some pampering? There are various packages - a day or couple of hours etc. Facials and massages tried and tested - and I would highly recommend them. If you go for the Premier club (gym, pool, sauna etc) membership you get a complimentary spa treatments per month - so cool! Lush green apples are beautifully displayed for you to munch on after exercising or your pampering session and two choices of newspapers to read as you chill out. Cost wise - pretty good value for what you get. Love it love it!

My experience was a slightly mixed tale…read more The Last Drop Hotel is a hotel and Spa situated north of Bolton, in the village of Bromley Cross, high enough up to provide lovely views over the surrounding countryside. The hotel comprises a main building with rooms to which has been attached a new, purpose-built spa and gym; several separate blocks of rooms; and finally, the "Village", a series of buildings which look like a small village, but in fact have their origins as outbuildings of the original historic farm called "Orrell Fold". It's very popular with locals, including those with Spa and gym membership. The current owners have invested in a fine new reception and bar area, as well as the Spa, and these are very nice indeed. The other public spaces retain their black-wood and white plaster "olde-worlde" look, which jars a bit. I don't know if the plan is to upgrade these as well, but they do give a rather 70s feel to the rest of the place. However, the rooms vary in terms of standard: my bedroom was in a small block, up some steps behind the kitchens. It had clearly been updated; the bed and bed linen were excellent, though the built-in wardrobe retained the original decor, including an out-of-place looking gold-edged mirror. The bathroom was nice enough but needed some TLC, including a tatty venetian blind with obviously broken slats. It was all clean, though, and the WiFi was the fastest I've experienced in a hotel (over 350 Mbps upload and download). The main problems with the room were firstly, that there was a lot of noise from the store area below the room, including banging doors and vibrations when cages of food were delivered. The hotel is popular both with wedding parties and hen nights, and noise from one of those was evident (and loud enough) to keep me awake intermittently until 3:30am. I gather from other friends staying there that this varied a lot depending on which part of the hotel you were in. Secondly, on the day of my departure, the water pressure, having been poor on the first day, was fully restored and I had a lovely shower - until I tried to turn it off. Then it poured - and I mean poured - from the bottom of the (live) electric shower unit. I had to turn on the bath taps full to reduce the pressure, lest it flood the bathroom. The reception sent a member of staff (who turned off the taps, flooding the bathroom...) and then a maintenance man, who was very nice and helpful, but had to turn off the water to the whole block of 3 rooms, since the valve on the shower unit had failed and there was no isolation valve for the shower. This meant I had to leave the room before I had finished using the bathroom, and use the public toilets instead. When I checked out, the receptionist simply apologised, but offered no recompense for what had been an unpleasant and inconvenient episode, on the basis I had been with a group and we had discounted rooms. (Had I paid the £190 headline rate, I'd have been furious.) When I pointed out this wasn't really acceptable at any price, they called the duty manager, who was very nice and sat down with me to discuss the problem. Although she could not offer even a partial refund, she did happily offer me two bottles of wine from the bar, which suited me in the circumstances. So full marks to her and her professionalism, but it simply shouldn't have happened: clearly, more investment is needed in some of the rooms, particularly the plumbing. Check-in was swift and efficient; the main evening meal was very nice, and the breakfast OK, though not much choice of vegetarian cooked items, beyond beans, mushrooms and fried eggs. The Spa is well equipped with a large main pool for swimming, a hot pool with an 'infinity' pool area outside, and a selection of sauna and steam rooms. I didn't use the gym but it did look well equipped. The hotel also has a lot of parking. Overall, I guess a lot depends on which rooms you are in, and (being a large venue) who else is staying there.

In between we had some tasty canapes in the bar area with nice sparkling wine. The dinner was pretty good, the toast with the pate was a bit stale but the lamb was well cooked and came with some tasty fondant potatoes. A breakfast butty was also served, but so soon after the meal I didn't try it - I don't understand why venues bother offering this if they can't serve it at 11pm or later. Staff seemed really nice and efficient and generally was impressed with the service and organization all night. The only thing they could do to improve on that would be to include a few signs so you know where you are going when you get to the hotel.

The luxurious interior of Bali spreads over three floor and is about the most beautiful seeting I have seen in any location in Manchester so far. Its surprisingly quiet and airy, given the busy location. You are instantly welcomed by the friendly staff and find yourself lounging on the comfy sofa, sipping a glass of Aloe Juice or tea. After your treatment you are also welcome to stay and are not ushered out for the next appointment waiting. Their treatments range from various types of massages, manicures and pedicures to facial treatments using PAYOT products. I was booked in for a full Indian head and neck massage, of 60 minutes and welcomed by Anna, who explained the whole procedure in detail. She also made sure I was not allergic to any of the ingredients used on my skin. I can be quite sensitive to anything scented so I decided to stay away from lavender or tea tree old. She was also very gentle and professional in her approach, all her movements were executed as a choreography, knowing exactly where to apply pressure. To be honest I am fairly hesitant to trust someone to give me a massage as I know how much damage can be done with the wrong technique, but felt in absolutely safe hands here.

Traditional Thai spa massage tables/boules. c. A shower in the room to save traipsing through corridors. d. Cotton sheets, not paper towels. 4. When I ask for green tea, it's served in a glass teapot so there's plenty to last the session. And the massage itself? I need a strong, stretching massage to loosen up aching limbs and when it's good here, it's very good. And it's very good a lot of the time. I can't recommend them highly enough, and in particular the manager, Mee, for running a tight ship.

Plus, the lady who treated me twice is very warm, playful, great curvy figure and the second time I saw her looked quite stunning in a midnight blue silk dress. So, yes, I would expect to return here.
