We tent camped at White Oak River Campground this past weekend. The places has its pros and cons…read morebut for me the cons outweighed the pros so we won't be going back. Cons first so I can end on a good note: CONS - The campground is REALLY close to the highway and an overpass. You will hear the cars all night long if you are tent camping. All.Night.Long. We didn't sleep very well; I would say not at all but we doze off a few times. (5 people in our group, 1 person said they slept ok. That same person drank more than anyone else - pack a pint of Beam and you may sleep too!). - There are 1, maybe two full time campers with what appears to be full time residents. They PARTIED hard, loud music until 3-4 am. Totally unacceptable for the campground manager to allow this, and to be a part of it. Yep, he partied with them; we think he lives right behind the office in a camper too. PROS - Now for the good stuff: - There's a wonderful stream/river that runs along the campground; we got a spot on the turn which we really liked. - There are several lakes that are awesome! I taught my wife to cast a fly and there are no/few trees around so she was able to not get snagged up and she really enjoyed it. My daughter lost a nice bass in the lake nearest the camping area. We saw 4 other nice bass caught on worms. Bait can be bought south of the campground a mile or so on the left. - It is pet friendly; we bought our dogs and enjoyed walking the grounds with them. - Bathrooms are pretty clean and have showers. If you are looking for a quiet spot to chill and sleep well, this may not be the best choice. They'll never be able to fix the road noise, but if they can get the mgmt under control and address the noise at night it would be a 4 star place.

It seems that the owners of this place has done what North Carolina has become so famous for. It's called the nickel and dime shuffle. Plan on being charged a service fee when you get here. 10.00 processing fee for most transactions you make. You would think that with all the extra fees they charge your site wouldn't flood, one heavy rain and you'er are in a Sneads Ferry lake. On to the three stars. The site isn't secured. people drive through the camp ground all night long. the Boat ramp is suppose to be private but it's not. Charter boat captains use and abuse the boat ramp at an astonishing rate. On Holidays locals use the( AKA Private) boat ramp which means they come through the camp ground. The Air B&B is another practice some were uncomfortable with. Temporary people passing in an out of the area on a nightly bases is unsettling. I under stand this is a camp ground a transient place, but its not secure and anyone can come in an out of the area at any time of the night.

Amanda was so incredibly sweet every time we talked to her. They have light but sturdy picnic tables at each lot that you can easily move around as needed and the same with the fire/grill rings. We cooked steaks on the grill ring and they turned out great. We loved meeting people inside the dog-park as well. Lots of really cool dogs get in there and run and play. We'll definitely be back.

Then having the gas station and the main hwy also made this spot perfect for me. The people I sold out to are keeping the rv at the park. They thought it would be perfect for them to. The park is extremely well-kept and the residents keep their lots tidy. Its super well organized too (except for the arrows on the lot number signs which are kinda backwards). All the same, the spaces are nicely sized and the Circle K and Dollar General being right beside the campground makes the stay even better without long drives to the store. I didn't go around a time that New River gate was in peak rush hour but I imagine it's not too bad unless you are a super early riser. I recommend ya'll book your next stay here.

I wanted to take a bath after a long day of walking, but the tub stopper would not stay down, so that was disappointing. Breakfast was not good at all. I tried it the first day but after that, I didn't even bother and opted to eat my leftover dinner from the night before in my room. I was shocked and grossed out that when I went to use the microwave, it still had the previous guests pizza in it. Which makes me wonder how well they actually cleaned my room prior to my visit? I mean I would think that checking for food left behind would be high on the priority list. Aside from those few things, it was decent for what I paid, but I would choose a different hotel next time.

This place is right on the water. The unit was clean and comfortable. My girlfriend and I would just crack the door to listen to the ocean at night. We didn't need the extra bedrooms, but I imagine it would be a nice for families. There's a full kitchen so we just brought food, but there are a handful of restaurants within driving distance, and at least one that's walkable. We booked through Treasure Realty's website. There's no doubt in my mind that I'll be coming back to this unit again. Highly recommended.
