Sitting in a parking lot while it's 90 degrees out yet there's only 2-3 other individuals in the entire building. Customers have no way to express concerns nor communicate with the veterinarian in practice here. There are so many ways this business could attempt to open to humans if they actually cared to and it definitely comes across as lazy. If I wasn't taking my pet here since her birth I would be making a change.

And again at pick up time we were provided with 4 pages of care instructions. It is obvious how much she cares about the cats she takes care of. She is a certified Vet and charges WAY less than most Veterinary Clinics. She even checked for ear mites at no cost. When you enter the house "clinic" I wish I would have taken a picture of a write up about Anne. It explains why she is able to charge such a low price and about her commitment to taking care of the cats. She is committed to helping spay and Neuter farm cats so they do not over populate and get killed on the road or fill up animal shelters. She also takes care of house cats too. I also heard she can administer any of the shots a cat may need as well. If you are in need of cat services and don't mind a short drive this is a place you must consider. Be aware there may be a wait, I think we needed to schedule an appointment 4 months out. Not sure if she handles emergencies.

My regular vet, Dr. Becker, was out…read moreof town the day my cat was sick so I called Maquoketa Veterinary Clinic and scheduled an appointment with the receptionist. Since I had to work that morning, my husband dropped off our cat. When I called in, I told the receptionist that I wanted to talk to the vet when she examined my cat and before doing any kind of procedure or tests. About an hour and half after my husband dropped off the cat, I called to see when the vet was going to look at my cat. The receptionist said they had catheterized my cat and got a urine sample. At that point I had not spoken to Dr. Kallenberger to okay any procedure let alone give my cat anesthetic. Later that evening my cat died. I believe that my cat died because of the anesthesia. This vet did not speak to myself or my husband to get a history of my cat's illnesses or allergies. I also was not informed about the risks of anesthesia. I feel Dr. Kallenberger acted irresponsibly and I would look elsewhere for pet care. I would recommend Dr Becker in Maquoketa or PetMed in Dubuque.

Safe, sound, and resting peacefully (Pictured below in her favourite spot). Note: We were able to snag someone's cancellation by calling on Monday. Otherwise, it appears appointments are a month + out as of 3/2022. Intake was amazing as staff met everyone coming in that day at the door and assisted with initial paperwork. Our kitty was just past her follow-up shot regimen for rabies and distemper, which the clinic provided at a minimal cost. Overall, our bill was just over 90$ which included nail trimming/capping (10$), shots, spaying, pain medication, overnight stay, as well as a microchipping fee (25$). This is far, far less then the range of prices we were quoted at other local animal veterinarian/hospitals. (Anywhere from 250$ to 1050$, just to *spay* alone.) Although a bit of a drive for those living in Hiawatha/Marion/North CR, the cost and level of care make it worth your time. If you choose to utilize IHA for your pet healthcare needs, please be sure to add a little extra when you pay to help keep this local non-profit going.
