The original claim was delayed, and after being resubmitted, it was denied on August 28 due to missing documentation. My insurance confirmed that all necessary resubmission details have been sitting in the office's provider portal. Despite calling repeatedly over the past several months, the office staff continues to state they haven't received anything from insurance and refuses to check the portal, most recently telling me to wait another 72 hours. I am posting this so office management or the treating dentist can step in, access their provider portal, and upload the required documentation so my claim can finally be reimbursed. The frequent switch was a result of my dissatisfaction with one or more of the following pain points: incompetency (sometimes led to rework which was painful) due to lack of training/practice; excessive costs due to aggressive recommended services; lack of passion and has no motivation for continuous improvement. As an engineer I have a desire and pursuit for perfection, and I once doubted if it was unrealistic to find a dentist with all success criteria until I met Dr. Thai about 10 years ago. She's the exact opposite of the things listed above: Received education from one of the nation's top dental schools, and highly skillful in many specialties in the world of dentistry; has a positive mentality, honest & frank in a friendly way, and always tries to explain the procedure in detail and sets the right expectation; jumps out of the comfort zone and continues to learn new skills by joining study groups and attending conferences during her spare time; most importantly, Dr. Thai truly cares about the patients, treat them as friends and tries to make decisions based on their best interests. If not impossible, I think it's challenging to find all these virtues on a single dentist. In the past 10 years, my family (2 adults and 3 kids) has been solely relying on her to maintain our dental health. My personal dental case is very complex, and I need a lot of procedures done over a long timespan. Dr. Thai lays out a conservative plan to preserve my natural teeth as much as possible, which I truly appreciate. My son once fell and broke his teeth & lip badly. I had to call Dr. Thai on a weekend and see if she could help by any chance. She immediately prioritized our needs at the time of emergency, and came in to treat my son with several stitches and a splint. To me, Dr. Thai is not just a dentist. She's more like a relative, part of a big family that helps take care of each other. I've followed Dr. Thai from Palo Alto, to Saratoga, and now to San Jose. I do have to say they have missed reminder calls and one time we had to reschedule a cleaning for a later date my son wasn't even on the schedule when we arrived, but they did gladly accomodate him.

A disappointing experience with my dental cleaning…read more This was my third visit to Dr. Sanayei's office. I originally changed dentists because my previous dentist had retired, and I had also moved to the Villages. At my previous dentist's office, they would apply lidocaine (numbing gel) to my gums when needed, which made the cleaning much more comfortable. Unfortunately, my experience today was very different. Instead of the hygienist, another doctor performed my cleaning. The procedure lasted about an hour, and unfortunately, he was very rough. I experienced significant pain and discomfort throughout the cleaning. During the procedure, I asked if they had any lidocaine or numbing gel available. I was told that they were out and was given an apology. After the procedure, I asked the front-office staff why they didn't have it available. I was surprised when I was told that they have actually never had it and that she would bring the matter to the office manager. I understand that dental cleanings can sometimes be uncomfortable, but I believe patient comfort should be an important consideration. If an office advertises itself as a state-of-the-art, newly renovated practice, I would hope that patient comfort and the overall patient experience would be given the same attention. I just wanted to share my experience because I was very disappointed with today's visit. I hope the office will take this feedback seriously and consider ways to make dental cleanings more comfortable for their patients.
