*Cross posted to Google for visibility*…read more Casa Borinqueña is seriously something special. I stopped in and ended up chatting with one of the owners--he was so kind and clearly loves what he does. He walked me through the menu and pointed me to some favorites, which made the whole experience feel really personal. I got the Bori fries and the mofongo cups (one "chicken," one "beef"), and everything was incredible--rich, savory flavors, crispy plantains, perfectly cooked plant-based meats, and that mama sauce tying it all together. When I asked about desserts, he even gave me a cinnabon bun to try, and it was unreal--warm, soft, perfectly sweet. Already planning my next trip back. I can't wait to try more.

Nonetheless we ordered the alcapurria, mofongo cups with mojo mushroom and impossible beef, sancocho, and cinnamon buns. We were so hungry that we ate it in the car and forgot to take photos. My favorite is the mushroom mofongo. The sauce was truly the best part. Its definitely one of those foods that you have to eat right away because its not good reheated. All of the food was pretty good especially being vegan. I am not vegan but I enjoy good vegan food. The woman behind the counter was nice and made great suggestions. The place overall was a small and cute. Its definitely more of a take out spot. The decor was very culturally and lgbtq inclusive which I loved. Have to go back for the rice!

The food is outstanding. The pastelillos are perfectly crispy on the outside and packed with flavorful filling. Honestly, anything you eat here is amazing the sides, the daily soups, the daily specials... everything is fresh, well-seasoned, and made with love. You can really tell they care about quality and about their customers. If you are in the area, please go support this wonderful local business and tell her LaTanya sent you! I was happy and excited to try fare and loved looking at the decor as I waited. They have chairs outside for you to chill and wait for your order because they do fry the pastelillos on the spot! Staff was helpful and you can see they are passionate. I ordered the 2 pastelillos with 1 side. I chose the beef and cheese and the mofongo jawn that has the mofongo and pernil. My side was the pickled yucca. I have to be honest! I loved the sizes and filling of the pastelillos. They do not skimp here on the fillings. The dough is light and perfectly crisp. The Mofongos jawn was a bit dry to me and although the garlic seasoning was good it was just too overpowering. All I tasted was garlic and I love garlic but that was super garlicky. The beef and cheese was good but a bit on the salty side. The yucca was well seasoned and delicious. It was given cold as a salad I was looking for it to be warm, the traditional way. It was still Bomb! I heated it up and the spices and pickling are certainly on point. I'll be back try some vegan options and the arroz con gandules. You can feel the
