I loved this place. Walked in, and it was only the owner and his friend. I think they were surprised to have someone in the bar they had never seen before, but they quickly cleaned up the bar top, smiled, and grabbed us some beers. Both guys were super friendly, and I loved hearing about the history of the bar and Butte. Walk under the welcoming hanging sing, through the front door, and the bar is immediately left. There was a couch, jukebox, and musical instruments on the right. No tables or anything like that, but again maybe COVID. The Dollar reminds me of a place where most activity happens at the bar anyway. The bar has an old school wooden tap with a medium rail. Below there is a box footrest that sits under the round padded bar stools. The highlight of the bar, though, is the beautiful back bar. It has a large arch and intricate woodwork. A little messy right now, but the bottle shelves still stand out with the red lighting. Opposite the bar, old photos and artwork are displayed against the brick wall. The floor is a little torn up, but I'm not there for the floor; I'm there for the conversation and beer. I'm not sure I'll ever have a reason to return to Butte, but I hope the Silver Dollar Saloon is still serving if I do.

Now I had never seen one of their bacon cheeseburgers before so I asked for an extra patty and when it came, I discovered that I probably didn't need that extra Patty! Each one was nearly an inch thick so it was nearly impossible to put my mouth around both those patties and the bun and the lettuce. That's OK though, I made due. I wasn't sure I could finish that whole burger because it was gigantic, but eventually, I did manage to finish it, but I could not finish the fries, which were also delicious. If you're in the area, I think Chubbys is a good place to go and the prices aren't too bad either. I was pretty impressed. Good job, chubbys!

The noise levels were normal with only a couple people playing pool and most people were at the bar. The second time was on a Friday night when I came here with some friendly people I met at the previous bar and it was completed packed and loud. You can tell that this is very much a young person's bar and the cheap $3 well drinks give that away. They actually have a bourbon ginger lime cocktail that is actually decent for $3.25. The service is good even for how busy it was and is a good place to get a good buzz and hang out with some friends.

The bartender (owner) takes his time while making them and puts some love into them. If you like Bloody Mary's, I'm willing to bet you will enjoy this one. Will I come back? Yes! I have to since they have an eating challenge called the Double Lawdog and the Double Bigfoot Challenge. The Double Lawdog is a 2lb hot dog covered in 4 cups of chili (with fries). The Double Bigfoot is a 2lb cheeseburger with 6 strips of bacon, 4 slices of cheese and fries. If you can eat either of those in under an hour...you get a picture on the wall and a T-shirt. Think Man vs. Food. I'm going for it. I'll report back when I do.
