It is a very small gallery and you can view all the pieces in one go. You could just stay in the middle of the gallery and you'll see everything. Currently on exhibit is Ronante Maratas' first solo show entitled Fragile Bones. The show had its run until today, June 1st. Depending on where you go up the escalator at Serendra, don't miss out this gallery. It may be small but it packs a lot of content. They really love colorful contemporary art! And they do shows, too, and join art fairs.

Even from the outside, I already saw the interesting artworks displayed. I got curious and went inside. There were several artists on display with works in forms of paintings and sculptures. Looking further, I also saw that they were selling art toys also from various brands like Kid Robot, Bearbrick, Ouamou Toys, and other quirky art items. Going in further, I also saw that they also sell apparel and accessories from Obey, Love Army, and even Grosby Shoes! How old-school-cool is that, huh? Because I was still curious and a staff of the store invited me, I headed to the second floor where there were even more artworks and toys available. It's like being in an adult toy store! As soon as I seal a good deal and have extra dough, I'm pretty sure I'm heading back to Secret Fresh and cop a few toys to reward the crazy little art-loving girl in me.

There's always something different going on here every time I pay a visit. The artists exhibit their art work as solo or collaborations. I'm not just talking about paintings and mixed media but even designer toys! This isn't your typical art gallery because every time an artist would feature their art work, there would always be some kind of out-of-this-world "gimmick" they would come up with! It's more than art appreciation but entertainment as well! It's also surprising that the art works are selling like pancakes and all sold out in just one night sometimes. What I like most about this place is there's already a tight-knit community and is most seen during their events which I really do appreciate!

I recently found out that on the third floor of their building, a small space called Mo_Space was there specifically for the art enthusiast. The place is just really small, I bet it's just around 10 x 20 feet. I'm not good at estimating so bear with me. When I decided to drop by today, I chanced upon seeing the many sketches of Kawayan de Guia which was entitled as Bezoar (Non-Linear Drawings). Today was the last day so I was glad that I was able to see how some of the details of her art process. It is, after all, a fundamental skill that most artists have to at least have an idea on. I look forward to seeing more artists from their roster exhibit here. They're open until 8:00 in the evening, so when you feel like you need a dose of inspiration or insight after work, this would be a great place for that especially if you just work around BGC.

Located just above BoConcept, Mo_Space is an artist-owned, non-profit gallery. Most of the artists that exhibit at Mo_Space are known for their edgy, contemporary take on modern art. Big names such as Kawayan de Guia, Catalina Africa, Jeona Zoleta, Kiri Dalena and Fernando Modesto have exhibited their works at Mo_Space, whose advocacy encourages artists to freely create art, instead of doing it for the money. I love Mo_Space's location because it affords one a fairly comprehensive view of Bonifacio High Street, giving you the feeling of being 'above it all,' while still being fully immersed in the dynamic energy of Fort Bonifacio. The well-curated exhibits at Mo_Space make it a must-visit location when you are in the area, regardless of whether or not you are there at an exhibit launch.

I was on the way down from the fifth floor after buying paint brush cleaner and an exhibit caught my eye. I suddenly thought that it was time to actually enter a gallery rather than just looking through the windows. The Crucible gallery was holding an exhibit for an artist I'm quite familiar with named, Nemo. His art is very out of the box weird. The good kind of weird. He paints/sketches monster-like people or creatures but making them look friendlier (in my perspective). He uses really eye-popping neon colors and portrays them in a really funky way. His style are one of the styles I really like when it comes to art! It was a really good experience there in the gallery because the way they placed the works were so people could see his concept well and the contrasts of the different materials he used such as paper and wood. The people in charge were also kind enough to answer the questions I had. The gallery showcases a lot of artists with different styles. They always update their exhibits as well! It's a good idea to drop by and check out all the amazing art they have from time to time. It could be very relaxing!

What sets them apart from the other galleries in Serendra is that it has artworks that show the realities of the Filipino way of life. May it be in the cities or provinces. Most of which are brimming with colour! When I went there to visit them last Sunday, I got the chance to talk to their gallery assistant, Ina. She asked me about what I do. I told her that I film and photograph. She told me to send my work to them and they'll review it. As long as it fits their aesthetics, they will hang one or two of my works in their gallery. It's nice to know that they're very supportive of young artists. If you're an artist who wants to showcase his or her talents in their gallery, try your luck! It wouldn't hurt. However, if you do decide to submit photos of your artwork today, you might have to wait for it to be shown next year if it's approved. Ina told me that they're already fully-booked until the end of this year. BUT. STILL. Try. It. Out. One of Art Verite's aims is to promote art appreciation. My visit to their gallery has inspired me to think of something that I could submit already. Ohhh. The ideas keep coming in!

I just really enjoy looking at it since it sometimes captures my attention in a way I least expect. It's the reason why every now and then I find myself in an art gallery to see if anything catches my attention. Art Gallery Philippines is exactly what it says on the tin. There are plenty of pieces of art in here that can probably tickle a person's fancy. All of them are made by contemporary Filipino artists. The gallery is home to a myriad of paintings and sculptures made by Filipinos. One of the reasons why I enjoyed this gallery compared to most of the other galleries that I went to in Glorietta is that they're the only ones who gave me the permission to take photographs. Walk in and marvel at all the outstanding pieces in their collection.

On the heels of the growing craft scene in the Philippines, The Common Room describes itself as "a place where makers gather." I love it because it's true! You'll find everything here from wallets made from old comic books, hand-sewn patches, pins, perfume, plushies and succulents! When you step inside, you'll wish you had money to buy everything in the store (or maybe I'm speaking only for myself). My favorite brand they carry is called Tweed and Twine, which makes pouches out of really beautiful fabric. It's also located right next to Go! Salads, so when I'm there for my daily green smoothie, I can't resist the call of all things handmade, pretty and shiny, and have to exercise great restraint not to come out with pretty new stationery, magnetic pins, and other lovingly handmade things I didn't think I needed. I love it!

The paintings on display that day were big, too. I like how all galleries in Serendra support and showcase Filipino talent. These galleries have provided me some inspiration with my work when I feel so blocked. I was also told that their gallery show art that they have collected for decades! They also do shows here and join art fairs. They did shows in Art Expo Malaysia, too.

I love the whole layout and interiors of this gallery. The interiors are like that of a stylish loft--high ceilings, minimalist, white, and beautiful glass windows. And I love galleries that allow you to move freely. Even if you have group shows here, you don't feel overwhelmed by all these different things to see as their space has some partitions that allow the pieces to have room to breathe. During the times that I've gone both were group shows (and very well curated ones, too). If you're a fan of contemporary art, this is one of the places I will highly recommend that you go to. It's a bit far off if you're used to going to exhibits around Makati, but I still think it's a great location as it's in Katipunan, an area that generally offers a lot of possible things to do after the exhibit as well (Hint: Route 196 is close by if you want to catch a gig after).
