My other dentist used like huge syringes and gave me 5 shots to numb a molar for a filling. This was 10 days ago so I know the big difference. Focused on Money/Greed: Don't Go: Cares More About Billing X-Rays Than Patient Care…read more I had a terrible experience with Dr. Michell today. I was referred to him by my primary dentist, who took a complete set of X-rays just last week. Dr. Michell insisted on taking new X-rays just to "put them on his computer." I offered to email my recent ones, but he refused and claimed he would just bill my insurance. I pointed out that insurance wouldn't cover duplicate X-rays and I couldn't afford out-of-pocket costs, but he couldn't explain why his X-rays were any different. When I declined the extra X-rays, he blatantly told me he couldn't treat me without them. If he couldn't make extra money off unnecessary X-rays, he wasn't interested in examining me. He casually said, "Nice meeting you," and walked out. On top of that, my appointment was at 4:30 PM, but I wasn't seen until 5:15 PM. Complete disrespect for patient care and my busy schedule.

Oddly enough, only two days before, I saw some ask for a recommendation for a root canal in a…read moreneighborhood Facebook group and many people have these guys rave reviews. Good to know, noted for future reference. Last night, I started having a toothache but being a stubborn kind of guy, I thought I would gut it out and everything would be just fine. I certainly didn't want to spend my last holiday vacation day going to the dentist. Just in case it got worse, I sent a FB message via Messenger around 1AM looking to get a response by the time I woke up in the morning. Surprisingly, someone responded within a few minutes. Well done, social media and a late night almost instant response. Scored points with me for sure. But I didn't sleep very well because of the toothache so at 5am, I set up an appt with my regular dentist online through his website. I called him an hour before just to make sure we were good but it turns out he was out of town and his staff didn't update his availability. Great! Went to the notebook on my phone and looked up the guys who got all the kudos and accolades. I looked up their reviews (all positive), looked up where they went to school and when they graduated (local guys), and etc. Someone on FB Messenger told me that the office was open at 9am and if I wanted to set up an appointment, they would be happy to take care of me. I called them after finding out my regular dentist wasn't in town and they gave me an appointment for three hours later, on a Sunday! I went in and they followed good social distancing practices, the place was clean, and the doc, Junoh Kim, walked me through everything that was going to happen, during, and after. He answered all my questions with pleasure and patience, no attitude, no judgement, no preaching, which is always appreciated. There wasn't anyone after me but he took his time, didn't rush through the process, and it was generally a good experience, considering it was a visit to the dentist on a Sunday during Thanksgiving weekend. I definitely recommend KW Dental and not that I look forward to the next visit, but I know that I will feel comfortable going to these guys in the future. 2020 is a weird year and businesses are all being affected so wanted to make sure to call these guys out for their good patient services.

They're dishonest and look for things you don't have in order to charge you exorbitant prices. I came here to get my teeth treated. The dentist seemed hesitant in his diagnosis, and the hygienist was even worse. I don't have the best teeth, but I do maintain good daily hygiene. The hygienist recommended a deep cleaning because I had tartar and plaque. The cleaning cost $795. Then the supposed budget coordinator arrived, and the treatment for my teeth would cost $12,185. At another place in the same area, the treatment would have cost me $5,533. Even so, I paid half the cleaning, $395, to start, and they only cleaned half of my mouth, on the right side, both upper and lower. During the week, I got two second opinions from other dentists and called dental insurance companies and plans. The result: I have no plaque, no tartar, and a cleaning wasn't necessary right now. I had a broken tooth, and these dishonest people at Gentle Dental wanted to put a crown on me for $3,050. The other two dentists recommended the following: you have 70% of your tooth still good; it's best to preserve it by getting a filling that, with care, will last and keep part of your natural tooth. Think a thousand times before going to Gentle Dental. I recommend Corbin Dental Bayside. Like all businesses and practices, there is always room for improvement. This update is really a…read more3.5 rating but because good medical professionals like good hairdressers are often hard to find + trust. 4 is more appropriate. Like many reviewers have wrote, the wait times has been increasing this is regardless if you come early, on time, or late. We have all been on occasion done so for any appointments, myself included. However, what is bizarre is sometimes the miscommunications at this office. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Sakhaee is pretty good. But I think and this is just me, if you schedule an appointment with a specific doctor, hygienist or whomever. If that medical professional isn't at the office, wouldn't you give the patient a courtesy heads up? Would you go to a substitute gynecologist if the person you have been going to for years isn't available on the day of your appointment? Would you trust your car to any mechanic? I would argue that the mouth/teeth is one of the most intimate areas where if you do find a doctor and/or hygienist that you have gone to and known for years. You would shutter trusting it to anyone else. And the two other times where I rolled the dice was as expected. Once was with a recent dental graduate (OUCH!) and the other was also less than stellar. My most recent roll of the dice I had to explain that due to previous experiences with poor hygienists, I now have PTSD from it and only book with my hygienist that I trust. I couldn't afford to reschedule so yet again I rolled the dice. This shouldn't be how coming in for teeth cleaning be where you book weeks, months in advance. But the fault here isn't the doctor nor the hygienist who wasn't available at the day of your appointment. The fault here is where the receptionists which seems to change guard every so often for one reason or another fail to let patients know ahead of time. Twice I had to reschedule until I couldn't because like most/all of us. We have work commitments or other commitments that needs attending too. And for that reason, now I'm forced to have to call in before my future appointments just to make sure my hygienist is indeed working that day. A lot of reviewers also mentioned overbooking slots. This happens in any industry including the airline industry. That is purely a business move and I am happy to see this practice thriving. I just feel that improvements should be made accordingly to the influx of more and more business. The waiting area while it is small, it was never meant to fit 15 people. It has always been that size. Though the waiting area may be exasperated by the overbooking of slots. Sometimes that can't be helped and you wouldn't want a lesser experience when you go to the dentist so rushing patients in and out isn't the answer here either not only for safety's sake. For now and for the past few years, I'd say Dr. Sakhaee's practice is still among some of the better ones in Queens and definitely around this neighborhood. I just hope improvements and tweaks for the better comes sooner rather than later...
