The professors are always there to help you no matter what you need and the employees are very friendly. Penn highlands is a very safe place to go to school, and you will get a good quality education. The tuition is affordable (although I am there on a full ride) and the class sizes are perfect. The credits from penn highlands are very credible and transfer to other universities very well. I am studying early childhood education and am transferring for special education and my entire degree will transfer to my university without a problem. Now the bookstore prices are beyond outrageous and their employees are not the most friendly, but the college is great!

Overall, SFU is a great place for students to get an excellent education if you can afford their tuition. My favorite professor was a professor of the Franciscan Theology program. However, the students are not kind at all. I went to SFU for the 2023 fall semester and half of the 2024 Spring semester (I had to leave due to personal reasons). If you aren't overly religious, super conservative, a part of athletics (not esports, though, because you will get harassed for being on the esports team), or a part of Greek life, you will be treated horribly by most of the student body. I am 23 years old with a son, and many people thought I was trash for being at the university--especially two girls who were the president of the Pro-life club on campus.

I've sat in on classes as a model for hair cut/styling and the students were taught valuable information from their coaches! And they seemed to be enjoying themselves too, which is important in a learning environment. If you want a career in cosmetology, go to Altoona Beauty School. They will teach you the fundamentals for a successful career, unlike some other schools.

I have been going to the Altoona Beauty School for years, mainly for facials as a treat to myself…read more My facial was excellent per usual, but I was very disappointed today. I had a gift card I was planning to use, but when I was checking out the receptionist told me they got a new system and were unable to take gift cards right now and couldn't even tell me when it would be fixed.... I didn't think this was right or very professional, no sign was up nor was I told when booking the appointment. Probably not a good idea to switch systems if everything isn't up and running. I am not one to write reviews but was not very happy leaving today.

For my particular visit here was during the folk fest going on in the area. The ethnic food offered inside is nothing more than buttery deliciousness. And reasonably priced. The inside of this place looks a little dated and kind of reminds you of an old gymnasium. It is actually pretty big and will definitely suffice for any big gathering. It is also bright in here as well. So much light seems to come in here. The outside pavilion area is pretty nice as well. Great for an event during the warmer months. **One special thing about this place is that it is one of only four locations in the US that has a piece of the World Trade Center towers before pieces were not allowed to leave Ground Zero.**
