This is a pretty cool golf course. It's huge, well maintained, and had a nice clubhouse area. The workers were very friendly and personable as well.

Timberline Golf is a top notch course in Calera, Alabama. It is conveniently located off of I-65. About a 30 minute drive south of Birmingham. The course is on a beautiful piece of land that is rolling terrain. It does not return to the clubhouse after the first nine holes. There are railroad tracks for the Dixie Railroad museum that run through the course. On weekends you might catch the demonstration steam engine pulling cars full of kids and train enthusiasts. The course is well kept and is a really good Jerry Pate design. The greens are usually in good shape and pretty fast. The yardage markers are to the front of the greens which is different from what I'm used to seeing. The course can be very tough. Holes #3 and #4 come to mind. Hole #3 is a par 5 with a narrow green that always seems especially fast. Hole #4 is a par four that plays uphill to a blind green. When you get there you find a two tiered green with a lot of slope. I played today on Customer Appreciation Day. Chilli's Grill and Bar provided free refreshments and lunch. That was very nice! The greens were not in great shape today, and that was net the norm. Timberline is a tough challenge that I really enjoy playing here.

Overall quality: 5 star golf course! Distance and location: Not that from the tee box, but coming from Bham! You're looking at a 24-30 min drive outside of rush hour. Not bad for mostly highway miles. Price: It's not a municipal walk around, so splurge a little and enjoy the tight lies and well-designed holes. Clubhouse: Friendly service, sales (30%) on decent quality clothing, nice woodwork and clean carpet, clubhouse style décor throughout...well-worth the money. Hazards: who cares, take your time and have fun! Cart Service: we experienced it twice on our round Extras: practice putting and choose their grass driving range or that which provides turf mats

Patty Melt &We came for the golf. We did not come for a culinary revelation. And yet…read more Mother's Day at Topgolf Birmingham -- sunshine, bays full of laughter, cold drinks, the satisfying thwack of a well-struck ball. We were deep into the fun when hunger hit, and I'll be honest: when we picked up the menu, our expectations for the food were somewhere between "stadium nachos" and "edible." We ordered anyway. What arrived changed the conversation entirely. The patty melt. Let me walk you through it. A genuinely great burger -- thick, juicy, seasoned with the confidence of someone who actually cares -- blanketed in a molten combination of American and pepper jack cheese. Caramelized onions, slow and sweet. A secret sauce that earns its mystery. Crunchy, creamy slaw for contrast. And then, the move: served on upside-down buns, which sounds like a gimmick but lands as genius -- the toasted crown becomes the base, the structure holds, every bite stays together. This is a burger built by someone who has thought deeply about burgers. The fries matched the moment. Hot, seasoned properly, zero complaints. Service was leisurely -- this is Topgolf, not a drive-through, and the kitchen is clearly cooking with intention rather than speed. On a perfect outdoor day with good company, the wait registered as background noise. The vibe here is already the whole point: fresh air, laughter echoing across every bay, people genuinely having fun together. The food used to be the footnote. The patty melt just became part of the headline. A rare, unreserved 10/10. Fries -- Mother's Day Visit

David , the bartender provided me with efficient and friendly service. I was able to enjoy my drink & cool off (a little) while watching the conclusion of the Stallions game on tv. Every member of the staff went above and beyond to make sure our family felt welcomed, cared for, and completely at home. A special thank you to Mark in the golf shop, who was so intentional and thoughtful. He created memories for our family that we'll cherish for years to come. We also have to recognize Darlene, Laura, Mylee, Alicia, and Gotti, who were absolutely incredible during our breakfasts and dinners. Traveling with four kids isn't always easy, but they were endlessly patient, brought games to keep the kids entertained, and accommodated every need with genuine kindness. Katlyn at the front desk was equally amazing. She greeted us with such warmth, anticipated our needs, and consistently went above and beyond to make our stay special. The property itself is absolutely beautiful, the food was delicious, and every detail was thoughtfully considered. It's rare to stay somewhere where every interaction leaves you feeling genuinely cared for, but that's exactly what we experienced at Pursell Farms. We can't wait to come back!
